RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1400 METRES, 5 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 9 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer N.B.Chenoy, permission was granted to Trainer Bezan Chenoy to saddle her charge SVELTE LADY (4th race) at her (Trainer N.B.Chenoy‘s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Vinayak, permission was granted to Trainer Suresh Chavan to saddle his charges LAKE CHIEF (5th race) and PRIDE OF THE HILLS (9th race), at his (Trainer Vinayak‘s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer P.Shroff, permission was granted to Trainer Shaym S.Habbu to saddle his charge TOLSTOY (9th race) at his (Trainer P.Shroff‘s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (142) – THE  FERRARI PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 11

 

At the start, MAGDALENA (Stephane Pasquier, dr.1) shifted out and made contact with KASKAZI (Daniel M.Grant, dr.2).

 

Jockey D.S.Rathore (PERFECT MOMENT), when questioned, stated that he found his mount uncomfortable during the race. The Sr.V.O. was requested to examine the gelding and he reported that no abnormality was detected.

 

Jockey Shammi Khan (HONEY BEE) has been reprimanded for shifting course outwards in the straight for no apparent reason.

 

KASKAZI (Daniel M.Grant) was inclined to lug out in the straight. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, QUICK RETURNS was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, DISTANT PROMISE and HONEY BEE (examined on 20/01/2012) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (143)  – THE  A.F.S.TALYARKHAN TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 8

 

At the request of Trainer S.S.Shah, ANAHI was examined at 0730 hours on 19/01/2012 and was found to have fever. As such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the filly from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

As the start was effected, ZOOM ZOOM (P.Trevor) ducked the front gates and lost about 2 lengths at the start.

 

MISTER MEDDLE (Zameer Sayeed) whipped around after the start and did not take part in the race. Trainer D.J.Surti has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey V.Phadke (SONG OF SPARROW), when questioned, stated that his mount held the bit and tried to run outwards and in trying to control his mount, the filly lost position approaching 600 metres.

 

After the race, SONG OF SPARROW was found be sound but having a cut injury at the right hock. FOREST LEGION had a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.3 (144) – THE  GENERAL OBAIDULLAH KHAN TROPHY: 2400 Metres - Runners – 4

 

TITIAN (Stephane Pasquier) and MARAUDER (Imran Chisty) lugged out under pressure in the straight. Trainer Nina M.Lalvani and Karthik G. have been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race their respective charge.

 

Jockey Stephane Pasquier (TITIAN) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to drift out in the straight.

 

After the race, TITIAN and MARAUDER were found be sound.

 

RACE NO.4 (145)  – THE  BOOKIE’S DELIGHT PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres - Runners – 8

 

On arrival at the start ARIANE  was observed to have lost her left hind plate. On examination by the Club’s V.O. the mare was found to have a bleeding injury at the left hind bulb of heel. As such, ARIANE was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the filly from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

REIN IN SPAIN (C.Rajendra) was ridden in check in the early part of the race and approaching 1200 metres, while being settled, the filly shifted out and hampered the running MAJOR WAGER (A.Sandesh), who lost position.

 

AWESOME SIMLE (Imran Chisty) kept an erratic course under the use of the whip and approaching 200 metres, shifted in and inconvenienced HOCKENHEIM (Harish). Jockey Imran Chisty has been cautioned.

 

Jockey S.Zervan (VIBGYOR) has been severely cautioned for improper use of the whip, wherein the Jockey had used the whip once on the neck of the horse in a forehand position.

 

After the race, MAJOR WAGER was found to be sound but having a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.5 (146) – THE  FIDDLE FADDLE PLATE (DIV.III): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 15

 

BAT YAM (Zameer Sayyed) was reluctant to be stalled. ZEKI (Akash Agarwal) and BLITZING (A.Sandesh) jumped out and did not raise an effective gallop, thus losing considerable ground at the start. Trainers Altaf Hussain, Narendra Lagad and Sanjay Kolse have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

FOLLOW ME (C.S.Jodha) lugged-in in the final 250 metres and in the process inconvenienced JACQUELINE SMILE (Imran Chisty) who was steadied. Thereafter, FOLLOW ME put in an awkward stride and was unbalanced momentarily. The Sr.V.O. was requested to examine the filly and he reported that no abnormality was detected. Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, SOLI DEO GLORIA was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race,  BLITZING and BAT YAM (examined on 20/01/2012) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 (147)  – THE  A.F.S.TALYARKHAN TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 10

 

MIDNIGHT LADY (R.Shelar) began awkwardly.

 

Near 300 metres, SHOWERS OF HEAVEN (Zameer Sayyed) was steadied as TURF LIGHTNING (Imran Chisty) lugged inwards. Trainer Karthik G. has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

KRYPTON (Shrikant Kamble) lugged out in the straight. Trainer M.K.Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.              

 

Jockey D.S.Rathore (MYLASTWISH) has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to continue making an effort in the straight.

 

After the race, KRYPTON and MIDNIGHT LADY  were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7 (148) – THE  FIDDLE FADDLE PLATE (DIV.II):  (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 15

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh was declared to ride on two horses in this race by Trainers Jayantila K.Gor and Sanjay Kolse on YALGAAR HO and RIDING ONTHE STORM respectively. After enquiring, Trainer Jayantilal K.Gor has been fined Rs.1000/- for declaring Jockey Kavraj Singh without his consent.

 

DESERT EAGLE (M.A.Roushan) began awkwardly and fly jumped, losing ground at the start.

 

Jockey P.Trevor (FAST AND FURIOUS) has been reprimanded for shifting in before the Red Marker.

 

MASTEROFTHESKY (Y.S.Srinath) lugged out in the straight. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

After the race, RIDING ONTHE STORM was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The colt has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MASTEROFTHESKY was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8 (149) – THE  AVANTAGE PLATE:  (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 19

 

In the early part of the race, REINSTATE (Akash Agarwal) was ridden in check due to crowding of the field.

 

Soon after the start, MARINE ZONE (T.S.Jodha) shifted in and in the process hampered the running of HEIRESS (Shammi Khan). Jockey T.S.Jodha has been cautioned.

 

Near 1000 metres, FLOODS OF FORTUNE (M.A.Roshan) shifted in and made contact with BANANA BOY (Kishore Kadam) and travelling some distance further again shifted in and made contact with BANANA BOY, who in turn made contact with CLASSIC RULER (Amyn Merchant).

 

Soon on straightening for home, GOLDEN MEMORY (S.Zervan) shifted out to progress in the race and hampered the running of REINSTATE (Akash Agarwal).

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the comparative performance of GOLDEN MEMORY and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, BANANA BOY  was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, STAR OF ZOLTAN and FLOODS OF FORTUNE (examined on 20/01/2012) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9 (150) – THE  FIDDLE FADDLE PLATE (DIV.I):  (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 15

 

At the start, BLESSED (Shammi Khan) fly jumped, unbalancing its Rider and losing ground. PRIDE OF THE HILLS (Akshay) fly jumped, losing ground at the start.

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (LUCKY MISBA) has been cautioned for shifting inwards soon after the start.

 

HEAVENLY PRIZE (Vikram Jodha) hung inwards during the race and near 1000 metres, tightened HOME ALONE (C.Rajendra) who in turn went on to PRIDE OF THE HILLS (Akshay). As HEAVENLY PRIZE was steadied, the gelding went out on to OASIS GOLD (Y.S.Srinath). Trainer S.K. Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, OASIS GOLD was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, HEAVENLY PRIZE was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.10 (151) – THE  BYCULLA CLUB TROPHY:  (About) 2800 Metres – Runners – 2

 

Approaching 200 metres, NATIVE KNIGHT (P.Trevor) and CLARION CALL (A.Sandesh) made contact with each other. 

 

After the race, CLARION CALL was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 1st, 7th and 8th race, viz. MAGDALENA, MOUNTAIN REGIMENT and GOLDEN MEMORY and the special sample of QUICK RETURNS (1st race), FOREST LEGION (2nd race), OASIS GOLD (9th race) and CLARION CALL (10th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substances.
