Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha was questioned with regard to the comparative performance of his charge STYLISH STROKES in this race which the gelding won as compared to its previous run in Race no 211 run on 15th October 2011 he had finished 11th. The Trainer explained that the gelding has run after a gap of 2 months and the long break may have helped the horse. He added that it was the maiden victory of this 5 year old horse and there was no common horse. Further, the gelding had run decent races prior to its poor run in Race no 211. To another question, he stated that the horse has soundness issues with his back. He said that the company was poor this time as only two horses in this field have been on Board and he had given a chance to the horse however he was at longer odds. The explanation tendered by Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha was noted.

RE : RACE NO.72 – THE WILD EAGLE PLATE (DIV.I) RUN ON 15TH DECEMBER, 2011 :
Trainer H.J.Antia has been fined Rs.3,000/- for contravention of the Calendar Notification regarding use of Bandages in respect of his charge MCQUEEN.
------------------------------
APPEAL FROM JOCKEY Y.S.SRINATH IN RESPECT OF 1) SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE W.E.F. 15/12/2011 TO 25/12/2011 (BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE) FOR UNSATISFACTORY RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “PRONTO STAR” IN RACE NO.15 – THE GRAND PASSION PLATE RUN ON 17/11/2011 AND 2) SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE W.E.F. 26/12/2011 TO 12/01/2012 AND A FINE OF RS.25,000/- FOR MISBEHAVIOUR/MISCONDUCT IN THE STEWARDS ROOM :
The Board of Appeal divided the appeal in to two parts, one being the suspension of Jockey Y.S.Srinath’s license for unsatisfactory riding on PRONTO STAR in Race No.15 and the second being the suspension of his Jockey’s license for misbehavior/misconduct in the Stewards Room.
The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 18th December, 2011 having considered all the documents and papers that were submitted and having heard Jockey Y.S.Srinath and having deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds decided to allow the first part of his appeal i.e. his suspension of Jockey’s license by the Stewards of the Club for unsatisfactory riding on his mount PRONTO STAR and refund the deposit.
As regards the second part of his appeal against the decision of the Stewards of the Club to suspend his Jockey’s license for misbehavior / misconduct in the Stewards Room, the Board of Appeal having considered his appeal decided to reject the same. Accordingly, the decision of the Stewards of the Club stands. Since Jockey Y.S.Srinath was granted a stay on his punishment till 18th December, 2011, his Jockey’s license shall now stand suspended w.e.f. 22nd December, 2011 up to 1st January, 2012 (both days inclusive). Further, the Board of Appeal felt that the punishment meted out by the Stewards of the Club in this regard appeared to be lenient considering that this was not the first time he was rude and arrogant in the Stewards Room. The Board of Appeal felt that the punishment meted out to him should be enhanced.
The Board therefore gave him a show cause asking him as to why the punishment meted out to him should not be enhanced.
The Chairman of the Board of Appeal explained to Jockey Y.S.Srinath the above including the reasons for giving a show cause to him and gave him time to come before the Board of Appeal with his submissions / response to the show cause. He was requested to withdraw. Jockey Y.S.Srinath was ready with his response and he was recalled and his submissions were heard. The Board of Appeal having deliberated on the matter and having applied their minds decided to enhance his punishment by increasing the fine from Rs.25,000/- to Rs.75,000/- and by imposing a suspended sentence of four days suspension on him. If he was found guilty of the same offence during the next two years then the aforesaid suspended sentence of suspension of four race days would immediately come into force and effect and which aforesaid punishment would be in addition to any other punishment which the Stewards may impose on him for any subsequent act of his as regards the aforesaid.
