RE: ENQUIRY
INTO THE LOSS OF REINS BY JOCKEY P.S.CHOUHAN ON “BRONX” APPROACHING 100
METRES IN RACE NO.100 – THE YOGENDER SINGH TROPHY (DIV.II) RUN ON 17TH
SEPTEMBER, 2018 :
The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they
had questioned Jockey P.S.Chouhan in the presence of Trainer Nosher Cama, in
the above connection.
The video recording of the incident of loss
of reins by Jockey P.S.Chouhan on BRONX in Race No.100 including the blow up,
was viewed in various angles.
To a specific question, Jockey P.S.Chouhan
said that whilst collecting his reins, it had slipped from the right hand. He
said that he was changing his whip hand from the left to the right.
Having heard the submissions made and having
viewed the video recording of the incident of the loss of reins, including the
blow up picture, the Stipendiary Stewards were not completely satisfied with the
explanation tendered by Jockey P.S.Chouhan and keeping in mind the odds and the
Jockey having lost the reins at a crucial part of the race, reported the matter
to the Stewards for such action as they may deem
fit.
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday,
18th November, 2018 interviewed Jockey P.S.Chouhan in the above
connection. The Stewards of the Club heard the submissions made by Jockey
P.S.Chouhan and viewed the video recording of the incident of loss of reins.
The Stewards noted that BRONX was the favourite in Race No.100 and that
Jockey P.S.Chouhan had lost the reins at a crucial part of the race. However,
having deliberated the matter, the Stewards of the Club decided to give him the
benefit of the doubt in this case and he was cautioned to be more careful in
the future.
