RAILS WERE PLACED AT THE ORIGINAL POINT
RACE NO.1 (274) – THE P.R.MEHTA TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners - 3
After the race, LAKE GENEVA was found to be sound.
RACE NO.2 (275) – THE J.P.VAZIFDAR TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 5
At the request of Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait, ILLUSTRIOUS was examined at 1030 hours on 18/03/2012 (Race Day) and was found to be sore by the right fore leg, as such, the mare was certified unfit to race and withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The mare has to be passed fit to race by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
At the start, STAR TREASURE (Kavraj Singh, dr.4) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to STAR OF VENUS (Hanumant Singh, dr.3), who in turn went in and made contact with CHECK HER OUT (S.Sunil, dr.1) Iwho herself had shifted out at that stage.
Trainer H.J.Antia and Jockey Hanumant Singh were questioned regarding the running and riding of STAR OF VENUS. The instructions were to be in a good position after the jump and to do his best. The Jockey stated that he went to front, and rode out. When asked for the reason why he looked back repeatedly in the straight, Jockey Hanumant Singh stated that he turned back to see as to how far ahead he was from the field as he had not been in front of late. Trainer H.J.Antia said that he was satisfied with the Jockey’s effort considering his caliber. The matter was reported to the Stewards.
The Stewards interviewed Trainer H.J.Antia and Jockey Hanumant Singh in the above connection and having heard them and having viewed the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Hanumant Singh and held him guilty of riding an incompetent race. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 7th April, 2012 to 14th April, 2012 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).
After the race, STAR OF VENUS was found to be sound. The mare had lost her right fore plate.
RACE NO.3 (276) – THE RIYASAT PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres - Runners – 9
Jockey Neeraj Rawal (KASKAZI) reported the loss of whip near 300 metres. This being the fourth instance that Jockey Neeraj Rawal had reported loss of whip during the current Mumbai Meeting 2011/12, the matter was reported to the Stewards.
The Stewards interviewed Jockey Neeraj Rawal in the above connection and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, as per the Calendar Notification, decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 7th April, 2012 to 8th April, 2012 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race). Further, he was warned to be more careful in the future.
Jockey N.S.Parmar (STAFFAN) reported the loss of whip at about 50 metres from the winning post.
Jockey P.Trevor (PERSIAN) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. The matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit. Consideration of the matter was deferred.
After the race, YUVILLE and RIDING ONTHE STORM were found to be sound.
RACE NO.4 (277) – THE J.RUSTOMJI SOPARIVALA TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres - Runners – 13
At the start, DREAM WEAVER (P.Trevor, dr.12) jumped awkwardly inwards and took the running of QUEEN OF VENUS (Amyn Merchant, dr.11).
After the race, NEW HEIGHTS, WAVES OF MAGIC and STORMY WIND were found to be sound.
RACE NO.5 (278) – THE DADY ADENWALLA TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 9 – NO REPORT
RACE NO.6 (279) – THE J.RUSTOMJI SOPARIVALA TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 14
MERCK (Deep Shanker) lugged out in the straight thereby placing its Rider at a disadvantage. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
DONATA (D.K.Ashish) which was racing greenly, ducked out near 100 metres and hampered the running of ASAHI (A.Sandesh).
TACHYON (P.Trevor) was inclined to lay-in in the straight.
After the race, IZARRA, DONATA and MERCK were found to be sound.
RACE NO.7 (280) – THE FORBES BREEDERS’ JUVENILE FILLIES CHAMPIONSHIP (GR.3):
(About) 1600 Metres–Runners– 7
At the start, SUN SALUTATION (Y.S.Srinath) jumped awkwardly, losing ground.
Near 200 metres, HALLE (A.Sandesh) shifted out under the use of the whip and inconvenienced PORTIA (S.Zervan) who traveled wide. Jockey A.Sandesh has been cautioned.
Jockey S.Zervan (PORTIA) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
After the race, ANGEL CHILD was found to be sound.
ANGEL CHILD (N.S.Parmar) was placed fifth and NIGELLA (C.Rajendra) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.
RACE NO.8 (281) – THE DADY ADENWALLA TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 9
SPRINGBANK (D.K.Ashish) was reluctant to proceed to the starting gates and also to be stalled. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter before next accepting with her to race.
Soon after the start, EQUIANO (Amyn Merchant, dr.8) shifted in before the Red Marker and caused interference to SPRINGBANK (D.K.Ashish), who in turn jostled with CRÈME DE LA CRÈME (App.Nikhil Bhujbal). In this incident, Jockey D.K.Ashish lost his whip. As such Jockey Amyn Merchant has been fined Rs.4000/-.
Soon after the start, BLESSED (C.S.Jodha, dr.6) shifted in and carried SPRINGBANK (D.K.Ashish, dr.5) inwards. Jockey C.S.Jodha has been cautioned.
After the race, EQUIANO and MOONSCAPE were found to be sound.
RACE NO.9 (282) – THE SHAPOORJI PALLONJI BREEDERS’ JUVENILE COLTS CHAMPIONSHIP (GR.3):
(About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 8
After the Acceptance stage, Trainer Shyam S.Habbu informed that due to oversight he had accepted with his three charges viz. CATHARSIS, JUSTICE & WINSTON and requested for permission not to declare the same. As per the norms, Trainer Shyam S.Habbu has been fined Rs.5000/- (for CATHARSIS), Rs.10,000/- (for JUSTICE) and Rs.15,000/- (for WINSTON) for failing to declare his three charges.
At the start, BLUE ACE (C.Rajendra, dr.7) jumped awkwardly outwards and carried HATCHIKO (B.Prakash, dr.8) outwards.
Jockey C.Rajendra (BLUE ACE) was observed to have used the in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being the third offence with regard to the use of the whip, the matter was reported to the Stewards.
The Stewards interviewed Jockey C.Rajendra in the above connection and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 7th April, 2012 to 8th April, 2012 (both days inclusive) for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount BLUE ACE (permitted to ride work/mock race).
Jockey S.John (BORSALINO) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount and a further sum of Rs.3000/- for using his whip in an improper manner, wherein he has used the whip with excessive frequency and force.
RED BARON (B.Sreekanth) was placed fifth and ICE PICK (David Allan) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.
RACE NO.10 (283) – THE MEMORIES OF YOU PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 14
BAYBLUES (M.A.Roushan) refused to be stalled despite all efforts, as such, the filly was withdrawn from the race before coming under the Starter’s Order. EXPELLIARMUS (P.Trevor) was restless in the stall and kept kicking the rear gates. Trainers Sanjay Kolse and Faisal A.Abbas have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
ASHWA APOLLO (App.Prasad) dwelt when the gates were leleased, losing 3 lengths at the start.
Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi (XENIA) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
After the race, SWEATY BETTY, JACQUELINE SMILE (examined on 19/3/2012) and ONLY FOR JIM (examined on 19/3/2012) were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th race, viz. DREAM WEAVER, WINTER WIND, MAPLE STAR, DESTINED TO GLORY and BLUE ACE, as also that of PORTIA and HALLE (7th race) and BORSALINO and HACHIKO (9th race) and the special sample of YUVILLE (3rd race) and JACQUELINE SMILE (10th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substances.
