RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 8 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 10 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST)

 

On a request from Trainer S.Ganapathy, permission was granted to Trainer Karthik G to saddle his charge SCENIC WARRIOR in the 2nd race, at his (Trainer S.Ganapathy’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 – THE GATEWAY OF INDIA PLATE : (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 4

 

BELMONT (A.Sandesh) was inclined to lug-out in the straight. Trainer C.D.Katrak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, QUEEN was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 – THE MAHARAJA OF MORVI TROPHY : (About) 1400 Metres – Runners -  3

 

SCENIC WARRIOR (Fr’co F.DaSilva) lost about 3 lengths at the start.

 

ZORAAVAR (Imran Chisty) lugged-out in the early part of the straight. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

STARRY EYES (A.Sandesh) lugged-out approaching 200 metres and took the running of ZORAAVAR (Imran Chisty) who was steadied. Trainer C.D.Katrak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

RACE NO.3 – THE  STAR FORTUNE PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 6

 

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (PORT BLAIR) reported that his mount leaned inwards in the straight. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey T.Mahesh (CATHARSIS) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excessive of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

After the race, MABLE was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the left stifle. PORT BLAIR was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4 – THE  MATHRADAS GOCULDAS TROPHY : (About) 1400 Metres – Runners 6

 

At the start, SILVER STREAK (Imran Chisty, dr.2) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to MANYATTA (App.S.Mosin, dr.3) and at the time STAR OF GIBRALTAR (App.Sandeep Jadhav, dr.4) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to MANYATTA.

 

Soon after the start, WINSTON (I.Pasha) shifted in and went across PAPAKURA (T.S.Jodha) and then again shifted in and took the running of SILVER STREAK (Imran Chisty), who in turn shifted in and hampered the running of ALAINDAIR (A.Sandesh) and in the process SILVER STREAK shifted out as the gelding was steadied and went on to MANYATTA (App.S.Mosin) who in turn went out on PAPAKURA. As such, Jockey I.Pasha has been reported to the Stewards for Careless Riding.

 

The Stewards interviewed Jockey I.Pasha and having heard him and having viewed the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of careless riding  which was on the borderline of dangerous riding. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 5th December, 2013 to 15th December, 2013 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race). Further, Jockey I.Pasha was severely cautioned for the future. 

 

RACE NO.5 – THE  GAME PLAN PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 8

 

ISADORO (T.S.Jodha) and ELECTRA (Dharmendar) were slow in the stride, losing about 3 lengths and 6 lengths respectively. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to give his charge ELECTRA more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

The explanation of Jockey Neeraj Rawal (ANCIENT WARRIOR) that his mount did not get a clear run between 400 metres and 300 metres was noted.

 

ISADORO (T.S.Jodha) hung out severely in the final 200 metres. Trainer S.S.Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

After the race, SAMAY BALWAN was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind pastern. ISADORO and GOTTAWEARSHADES were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 – THE  RACE OF HOPE GOLD CUP: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 6 

 

WAR  HORSE (Imran Chisty) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

At the start, JOSEPHINE (S.Sameer, dr.4) was converged upon as SHEER CLASS (A.Sandesh, dr.3) jumped awkwardly outwards and MIGHTY KING (Dashrath Singh, dr.5) jumped awkwardly inwards. 

 

After the race, JOSEPHINE, WAR HORSE and SHEER CLASS were found to be sound,  JOSEPHINE had a cut injury at the right hind fetlock and WAR HORSE had an abrasion on the right side of mandible. 

 

RACE NO.7 – THE NYAYO PLATE : (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 12

 

SHIVALIK STORM (A.Sandesh) was fractious and reluctant to be stalled. As such, the Starting Stall Certificate of the gelding has been revoked.

 

Jockey S.Shinde (HIMALAYAN QUEEN) reported the loss of his whip near 100 metres, the reason being that his whip got entangled with the knot in his rein.

 

Trainer C.D.Katrak and Jockey S.Shinde were questioned regarding the running and riding of HIMALAYAN QUEEN. The Instructions were to take a good jump, sit wherever possible as it was an educational run. In the preliminary questioning, the Trainer stated that he had informed the Jockey not to use the whip as the filly was soft and immature. The Trainer was satisfied with the ride of the Jockey in the race and was in fact critical of the Jockey for having used the whip. The Jockey confirmed the Instructions and stated that he was asked not to use the whip in excess.  The Stipendiary Stewards will be enquiring further into the matter and  will submit a report shortly.

 

After the race, SHIVALIK STORM, HIMALAYAN QUEEN and MELINDA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8 – THE SEASON’S BEST PLATE : (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 9

 

After the race, PRINCESS LOVE, VIVA ZAPATA and BELLA FIGURA were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th race viz. JANIS JAY, ROSIE SUNSHINE, ALAINDAIR and ISADORO, and the special sample of MIRACLE OF MERCY (5th race), SHEER CLASS (6th race) and VIVA ZAPATA (8th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : CONFIRMATORY REPORT IN RESPECT OF ch g “PLAYER” (WINNER) IN RACE NO.196 – THE TOBLER PLATE RUN ON SUNDAY, 6TH OCTOBER, 2013 :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 17th November, 2013 interviewed Trainer Jayantilal K.Gor regarding the Confirmatory Analysis Report dated 13th November, 2013 from LCH, France, in respect of the sample of urine taken from ch g PLAYER (Winner) in Race No.196 – The Tobler late run on Sunday, 6th October, 2013 which read as under :-

 

“…..It is hereby confirmed that the sample, which has been analysed as set out above, contains 16B-HYDROXYSTANOZOLOL” 

 

A copy of the above report was handed over to Tr.Jayantilal K.Gor and he was asked to continue his own enquiries and to lead evidence, if any, to prove mitigating circumstances, within 15 days and to also attend the enquiry to be held by the Stipendiary Stewards and the Sr.Veterinary Officer of the Club, as and when he would be required to.

As per the Medication Rules,  the Stewards of the Club decided to disqualify PLAYER (Winner) in Race No.196 – The Tobler late run on Sunday, 6th October, 2013 and to revise the order of placing of the race as under :-

VIVA CAPRI   -        FIRST;          AMAYA                   -        THIRD;        

ANNABETH    -        SECOND;      STORM LIGHTNING  -        FOURTH

 

Further, considering PLAYER has been reported positive for an Anabolic Steroid, which is banned by the Government of India except for therapeutic use with prior permission from the C;ub’s Sr.Veterinary Officer, the Stewards of the Club decided to ban PLAYER from racing up to 30th April, 2014.

RE : POSITIVE REPORT OF THE RANDOM SAMPLE OF URINE TAKEN FROM ch g “PLAYER” ON 19TH OCTOBER, 2013 :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 17th November, 2013 interviewed Tr.Jayantilal K.Gor regarding the positive report dated 7th November, 2013, from the H.F.L. Sports Science Laboratory, New Market, UK, in respect of the random sample of urine taken from his charge PLAYER on 19th October, 2013 which read as under :

 

 “THE CONFIRMATORY ANALYSIS WAS PERFORMED USING DOCUMENTED HFL METHODS, WHICH IDENTIFIED THE PRESENCE OF 16B-HYDROXYSTANOZOLOL, A METABOLITE OF STANOZOLOL, IN THE URINE SAMPLE”  

 

At this meeting, Trainer Jayantilal K.Gor was handed over a copy of the above report and was requested to inform the Sr. Veterinary Officer of the Club, in writing, within five days of opening the envelope that identifies the sample, whether he wishes to sent the split sample for confirmatory analysis to The Hong Kong Jockey Club Lab  or L C H, France, for Confirmatory analysis and also the name of the witnessing analyst, if any, failing which the Stewards shall treat the report of the primary laboratory as conclusive.

 

Tr.Jayantilal K.Gor was also asked to conduct his own enquiries and to lead evidence, if any, to prove mitigating circumstances, within 15 days and to also attend the enquiry to be held by the Stipendiary Stewards and the Sr.V.O. of the Club, as and when he would be required to.
