PUNE MEETING 2011 SPECIAL RACE DAY, SATURDAY, 17TH SEPTEMBER, 2011.

RACE DAY REPORTS

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES WIDE FROM 1600 METRES TO 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 4 METRES WIDE UP TO THE WINNING POST. FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE TILL 1000 METRES, WIDTH ABOUT 4 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Asad Siddiqui, permission was granted to Trainer Hosidar Daji to saddle his charges VIVA ZAPATA & BLUE SWALLOW in the 6th and 7th race respectively, at his (Trainer Asad Siddiqui‘s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO 1 (149) THE ADAM’S TREASURE PLATE (DIV.II): (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – Runners – 8

 

ZEKI (Ladjadj Stephane) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

MOUNTAIN FLORA (T.Atul) was slow in the strides, losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Near 900 metres, MOUNTAIN FLORA (T.Atul) put in an awkward stride while racing on the inside of THRILLER (Amin Merchant) and brushed the rails.

 

Jockey A.Sandesh (SWEETER THEN LIFE) reported that his mount lugged out during the race. Trainer Amjad Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

In the final stages of the race, ELECTRA (Aadesh Kumar) shifted in and inconvenienced BEEMER (Nirmal Jodha). Jockey Aadesh Kumar has been cautioned.

 

After the race, CATALYST was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind fetlock, ELECTRA had a cut injury at the left hind pastern and SWEETER THEN LIFE had a cut injury at the right fore cannon. ZEKI and SWEETER THEN LIFE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 2 (150) THE ICARUS PLATE: (ABOUT) 2400 METRES – Runners – 4

 

On questioning, Jockey B.Prakash (OCEAN PRINCESS) stated that coming into the straight and till passing the 200 metres marker he was ahead of STAR OF GIBRALTOR (C.Rajendra) but in the last 100 metres, his mount gave up and STAR OF GIBRALTOR had headed his filly and there was nothing left in her. He admitted that he had eased up his mount in the last few strides as his mount was not improving and his was a beaten horse.  He has been cautioned to ride out his mounts past the Post in future.

 

After the race, ENLIGHTENMENT was found to be sound having a cut injury at the right hock.

 

RACE NO 3 (151) THE J.E.HUGHES TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – Runners – 7

 

TALK OF THE TOWN (P.Kamlesh) jumped out awkwardly throwing its head, thus losing ground at the start. Trainer Adil Dajee has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

INCOGNITO (Dashrath Singh) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer M.K.Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, ILLUSTRIOUS was observed to have an abrasion at both the hind fetlock. TALK OF THE TOWN and INCOGNITO were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 4. (152) THE COL.KAIKHUSHROO MANECKJI BHARUCHA MEMORIAL TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres.  Runners – 9

 

At the start, VIBGYOR (S.S.Baria) threw its head around and did not raise an effective gallop.

 

Near 300 metres, GENERALISSIMO (Akash Agarwal) shifted out and went across SABA (A.Sandesh) who was steadied.

 

Jockey Shrikant Kamble (TELL ME MORE) reported that his whip got entangled with the rein near 300 metres.  

 

After the race, TELL ME MORE was observed to have an abrasion at the left fore fetlock and ORIENTAL DAWN had a gum injury. TELL ME MORE, STAR TREASURE and BEYOND STARS were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 5. (153) THE NIRMAL RUIA GOLD TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres.  Runners – 6

 

At the start, CIEL INDIENNE (B.Prakash) was inconvenienced due to crowding and lost position.

 

Near 300 metres, PEPE JUNIOR (A.Sandesh) was tightened as STAR FUTURE (P.kamlesh) lugged in. Since STAR FUTURE was reported to have broken a blood vessel, no action has been initiated in the matter.

 

Trainer C.D.Katrak was questioned with regard to the performance of STAR FUTURE coupled with drift in odds. Trainer Katrak stated that the horse was not looking good in the Paddock. In his opinion, the heat was telling on him and therefore he had not tipped the horse to others. Trainer Katrak stated that the horse is dry coated. He added that the horse was in contention till coming into the straight and then he may have bled and trailed off. He further added that the horse had broken a blood vessel earlier also. He said that during the Invitation Cup weekend at Mumbai in March, the weather was hot and the horse had run poorly. An enquiry has been initiated to investigate the matter further and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, STAR FUTURE was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Also, the gelding had an abrasion at the left hind fetlock. The gelding is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, CIEL INDIENNE was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 6. (154) THE GREAT SECRET PLATE:  (About) 1200 Metres. Runners – 9

 

VIVA ZAPATA (J.Pradeep) was reluctant to be stalled despite all efforts. As such, the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainer Asad Siddiqui has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, SCARAMOUCHE was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO 7. (155) THE ALEXANDRESS PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres. Runners – 9

 

Passing 1800 metres, ARZAAN (S.Zervan) lost position due to which NUMISMATIST (J.Chinoy), who was following, was hampered for a run and was steadied and lost position.

 

Jockey A.Sandesh (TAANUSH) reported loss of whip near 300 metres.

 

ASLAN (Y.S.Srinath) lugged out in the final stages of the race and inconvenienced PRINCE BRIJENDRA (S.N.Chavan). Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt. Nevertheless Jockey Y.S.Srinath has been cautioned for not making sufficient effort to correct his mount.

 

Jockey P.Trevor (RADICAL MACKIE) has been fined Rs.3000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

After the race, SACRED RELIC was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, PRINCE BRIJENDRA was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind fetlock. ASLAN was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 8. (156) THE ADAM’S TREASURE PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 9 – NO REPORT

The post race urine sample of the winner of 1st, 5th & 6th race, viz. THRILLER, STAR TRAINER & RANTHAMBHORE and the special sample of ZEKI (1st race), STAR TREASURE (4th race), STAR FUTURE (5th race), ROSALIND (6th race) and VISIONIST (8th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
