RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 5 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES , 9 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 11 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES LEADING TO 5 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

On a request from Trainer Nosher Cama, permission was granted to Trainer Nirad Karanjawala to saddle his charges POKERFACE & FINE TUNE (3^rd race) and MYRCELLA (5^th race), at his own (Trainer Nosher Cama’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(151) –THE LT.COL.GOVIND SINGH (VRC) TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 6

Soon after the start, MORISEIKI (A.Sandesh) shifted in thereby tightening PRINCIPESSA (N.S.Parmar) who had to be steadied. Jockey A.Sandesh has been cautioned.

From the 300 metres onwards, ASTOUNDING BAY (App.Yash Narredu) was observed to have maintained an erratic course. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Jockey Robbie Downey (SILVER KING) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his third offence during the current Mumbai Meeting, he has been suspended for 2 Race Days i.e. from 7^th March, 2019 to 10^th March, 2019 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).

RACE NO.2(152) – THE BRAZIL CUP: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 12

ETERNAL MEMORIES (Neeraj Rawal) planted in the stall and took no part in the race. In view of this and a similar behavior of the filly in her previous start, Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting with her to race.

At the start, WHOOPSIDAISY (App.A.S.Peter, dr.3) jumped outwards on to LAMBRETTA (App.A.Prakash, dr.4).

At the start, SYLVESTER (A.Sandesh, dr.8) jumped outwards on to STORMBORN (App.P.Shinde, dr.9), who in turn shifted out on to TIANJIN HONEY (T.S.Jodha, dr.10).

Soon after the start, LAMBRETTA (App. A. Prakash) shifted out thereby inconveniencing POWER OF THOR (App. Vishal N. Bunde).

Approaching 800 metres, SYLVESTER (A. Sandesh) shifted in and made contact with DEAN’S GOLD (S. Zervan) who had to be steadied. After the race, Jockey A. Sandesh reported that his mount hung in despite his efforts. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

The Sr.V.O. reported that STORMBORN stopped after passing the winning post. On examination, the gelding was found to be sore by the left hind leg. After first aid treatment and bandaging, the gelding was sent to the Equine Hospital for further examination. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

RACE NO.3(153) – THE DR.GOVIND R.GURBAXANI MEMORIAL TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 8

In the process of being backed-in, ORACLE (P.Trevor) leaned on to the left flap of the front gate due to which the flap got partially closed and thereafter the gelding lashed out whereby the flap spring was left unserviceable and the same was replaced with the new set. Subsequently, the gelding was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified him fit to race.

At the start ORACLE (P.Trevor, dr.7) jumped inwards on to TRUE GRIT (Neeraj Rawal, dr.6)

Passing 400 metres, FINE TUNE (P. S. Chouhan) shifted out under pressure thereby forcing PRICELESSGIRL (D. A. Naik) outwards. After the race, Jockey P. S. Chouhan reported that his mount hung out under pressure. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

Passing 250 metres, POKERFACE (B. Nikhil) shifted in and went across COLOMBIANAPRINCESS (App. Malam Singh) who had to be checked. Jockey B. Nikhil has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

After the race, COLOMBIANAPRINCESS was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, ORACLE was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind pastern and hock.

RACE NO.4(154) – THE LONGCHAMP MILLION: (About) 1200 Metres –Runners- 5

After the race, MS BOSS was trotted and found to be sound.

RACE NO.5(155)– THE INDIAN NAVY TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners- 8

At the start, SO SPLENDID (App.H.Zeeshan, dr.3) jumped inwards and brushed the haunches of JULIO CESARO (App.S.A.Amit, dr.2).

At the start, MYRCELLA (P.S.Chouhan, dr.4) jumped outwards on to DIVINE POWER (N.S.Parmar, dr.5).

Approaching 1000 metres, JETFIRE (A.Sandesh) shifted in on to MYRCELLA (P.S.Chouhan), who in turn shifted in thereby tightening JULIO CESARO (App.S.A.Amit) who had to be checked. Jockey A.Sandesh has been cautioned.

Due to a tightly packed field, JULIO CESARO (App.S.A.Amit) was held up for room and had to be checked passing 800 metres.

An objection was lodged by Jockey A.Sandesh, the rider of JETFIRE (Placed Second) against DIVINE POWER (N.S.Parmar, Placed First). The reason being, in the last 400 metres, his horse was moving well and overtook DIVINE POWER who bumped him. Thereafter, in the last 300 metres, DIVINE POWER again bumped him as a result his horse got unbalanced and he was running with Blinkers and hence was unable to see the movement from inside and gave up.

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.

After the race, OFFICER IN COMMAND and JETFIRE were trotted and found to be sound.

RACE NO.6(156) – THE FLYING BRAVE PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 12

At the request of Jockey R Ajinkya, HEXAHEDRON was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified him fit to race, however, Jockey R.Ajinkya was still not comfortable in riding the horse. After consultation with the Chief Stipendiary Steward, HEXAHEDRON was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into this matter and will submit a report shortly.

After the race, App.Vishal N.Bunde (PADMAKOSA) reported the loss of whip near the 200 metres. This being his first instance, no action has been initiated.

Immediately after the start, ARAVAN (Amyn Merchant, dr.7) shifted in and went across BLITZKRIEG (App.D.R.Shubham, dr.6) and bumped CECELIA (App.G.Amit, dr.4) thereby forcing it inwards, who in turn bumped ZEEMO (App.K.Nazil) unbalancing the latter. In view of this behavior, Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

At the start, ABRAXAS (App.Aniket Karande, dr.9) jumped outwards and at the same time JULIANO (App.M.Ayyar, dr.10) jumped inwards and the made contact.

At the start, UNIMAGINABLE (App.P.S.Kaviraj, dr.11) jumped outwards on to THEA O THEA (App.S.A.Amit, dr.12). Thereafter, BEE QUIRKY (App.Niranjan S.Parmar, dr.13) shifted in due to which THEA O THEA was tightened for room and dropped back.

Soon after the start, UNIMAGINABLE (App.P.S.Kaviraj) shifted in and bumped JULIANO (App.M.Ayyar) who was unbalanced. App.P.S.Kaviraj has been fined Rs 3,000/-.

Soon after above incident, BEE QUIRKY (Niranjan S Parmar) shifted in under urgings thereby starting a chain reaction wherein UNIMAGINABLE (App.P.S.Kaviraj) was inconvenienced and JULIANO (App.M.Ayyar) and ABRAXAS (App.Aniket Karande) were tightened for room and had to be checked, due to which ARVAN (Amyn Merchant) and CECELIA (App.G.Amit) were inconvenienced and had to be steadied. Thereafter, BEE QUIRKY further shifted in causing ZEEMO (App.K.Nazil) to be checked. After questioning, Apprentice Niranjan S.Parmar has been suspended for 2 Race Days i.e. from 7^th March, 2019 to 10^th March 2019 (both days Inclusive) for carless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race). Further, he has also been referred to the Riding Instructor to improve his riding skills.

An objection was lodged by App.Malam Singh, the rider of SPEEDO (Placed Second) against UNIMAGINABLE (App.P.S.Kaviraj, Placed First). The reason being, passing 150 metres, UNIMAGINABLE came on to him and caused him interference and took his ground whereby he had to check his mount and switch him to the outside and this cost him a certain race.

After considering the submissions made by App.Malam Singh who was accompanied by Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha and App.P.S.Kaviraj, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgement, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.

In the above connection, the Stewards directed the Stipendiary Stewards to initiate action against App.P.S.Kaviraj for careless riding on his mount UNIMAGINABLE. Accordingly, the Stipendiary Stewards decided to suspend App.P.S.Kaviraj from riding in races for 2 Race Days i.e. from 7^th March, 2019 to 10^th March, 2019 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).

After the race, BLITZKRIEG was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s Sr. V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, ARVAN was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Being a second time bleeder, the gelding is not to race for the stipulated ban period of eight weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, ABRAXAS and PADMAKOSA were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1^st, 2^nd, 4^th and 6^th viz. ASTOUNDING BAY, SYLVESTER, DANDI MARCH and UNIMAGINABLE, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
