On a request from Trainer Shyam S.Habbu, permission was granted to Trainer P.Shroff to saddle his charges CLINTON (1st race) and CARUSO (3rd race), at his (Trainer Shyam S.Habbu’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(64) – THE M.N.NAZIR TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 6
CELESTIAL CALL (Dashrath Singh, dr.2) jumped awkwardly outwards on to STAR MOUNTAIN (App.Sandeep Jadhav, dr.3), who went on to MARENGO (Shrikant Kamble, dr.4) who in turn went on to MON AMI (A.Sandesh, dr.5) who further went on to LAKE PARADISE (Suraj Narredu, dr.6). Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures with his charge CELESTIAL CALL before next accepting to race the gelding.
Jockey A.Sandesh (MON AMI) reported that his mount was too keen after the jump and the pace being slow, he found himself in the front bunch. He said that he would have preferred to sit off the pace but could not do so. The explanation was noted.
After the race, MON AMI was found to be sound.
RACE NO.2(65) – THE JACQUELINE TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 4
VITTORIA (Daniel M.Grant) was slowly away, losing about 2 lengths at the start.
Jockey Dashrath Singh (SILK CUT) reported that his mount was hanging in throughout the race and brushed the rails at about 300 metres. Trainer Bezan Chenoy has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race gelding.
After the race, SILK CUT was found to be sound.
RACE NO.3(66) – THE FAIZ JASDANWALLA TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 7
At the request of Trainer C.D.Katrak, LITTLE LOVE was examined at 0900 hours on 15/12/2012 and was found to have urticaria on both sides of neck and flank, as such the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The trainer is required to obtain a Fitness Certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
At the request of Trainer S.S.Shah, FEAST OF LOVE was examined at 1015 hours on 16/12/2012 and was found to be sore by the right fore leg, as such the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After being loaded SILVER STREAK (A.Sandesh) played up and flipped backwards and got stuck in the rear gate. The gates were opened and the horse was taken out. SILVER STREAK was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. In view of the above behavior, the Starting Stall Certificate of SILVER STREAK has been revoked.
After the race, CARUSO was found to be sore by the right fore leg. Also, the gelding had a cut injury at the right hind fetlock. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.4(67) – THE MAHARASHTRA, GUJARAT & GOA AREA TROPHY: (About) 2000 Mts – Runners – 6
SUN SALUTATION (Dashrath Singh) started drifting out from the 1600 metres and rejoined the field at about 1000 metres Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
Jockey P.Trevor (DANCING SPLENDOUR) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
App.Prabhu Naidu (QUEEN’S CAMP) reported the loss of whip at about 300 metres. He explained that he was trying to change his whip hand and the whip got entangled in the reins. He has been cautioned to be more careful in the future.
After the race, SUN SALUTATION, QUEEN’S CAMP and PERFECT STRENGTH were found to be sound. SUN SALUTATION had a gum injury.
RACE NO.5(68) – THE GRACIAS SALDANHA MEMORIAL MILLION: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 12
At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards’ Enquiry was held in this race The reason being, passing 250 metres, TURF LIGHTNING (Liam Patrick Jones, placed fourth) shifted in under use of the whip on to NEFYN (Dashrath Singh), who shifted in on to MOUNTAIN REGIMENT (Amyn Merchant) who in turn shifted on to SCARLET PIMPERNEL (S.Zervan) who was racing along the rails and was squeezed out and lost position. Thereafter TURF LIGHTNING kept shifting in under use of the whip and caused interference to NEFYN.
After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and viewing the video recording of the race, the Stewards decided to disqualify TURF LIGHTNING (placed fourth) and to revise the Order of Placing as under :-
STAR TRAINER - First AMADEUS - Third
RANTHAMBHORE - Second ANCIENT WONDER - Fourth
The Stewards after the last race interviewed Jockey Liam Patrick Jones for dangerous riding on his mount TURF LIGHTNING and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 30th December, 2012 to 15th January, 2013 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).
STAR TRAINER (Suraj Narredu) was eased at about 800 metres, whilst running in between ANCIENT WONDER (A.Sandesh) and DOVERS HILL (C.Rajendra). The incident was accidental.
ANCIENT WONDER (A.Sandesh) was steadied at about 350 metres, whilst racing between DOVERS HILL (C.Rajendra) and WEIZHOU (P.Trevor). The incident was accidental.
BLUE SKY (Neeraj Rawal) was steadied in the final 250 metres whilst racing between DOVERS HILL (C.Rajendra) and WEIZHOU (P.Trevor). The incident was accidental.
ANCIENT WONDER (A.Sandesh) was inconvenienced in the final stages of the race whilst racing in between AMADEUS (R.Hughes) and STAR TRAINER (Suraj Narredu). The incident was accidental.
RANTHAMBHORE (C.S.Jodha) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, DOVERS HILL was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, STAR TRAINER was observed to have a cut injury above the left hock. SUCCESSOR and MOUNTAIN REGIMENT were found to be sound.
RACE NO.6(69) – THE GITANJALI INDIAN 1000 GUINEAS (GR.I): (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 10
SHOWIN’OFF (P.Trevor) was fractious in the stall. Trainer S.S.Attaollahi has been asked to take remedial measures.
GOLD GLAMOUR (Liam Patrick Jones, dr.4) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to NEONA (A.Sandesh, dr.5), who in turn went on to SONG DYNASTY (Y.S.Srinath, dr.6).
SHOWIN’OFF (P.Trevor) jumped out awkwardly towards the inside.
HALLE (Dashrath Singh) hung out in the final stages of the race. Trainer S.K.Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After travelling about 50 metres from start, while trying to settle the filly, PORTIA (R.Hughes) shifted in and went on to SONG DYNASTY (Y.S.Srinath). The incident was accidental.
Jockey Dashrath Singh (HALLE) reported the loss of whip at about 300 metres from the winning post. This being the second occasion that he had lost the whip during the current Mumbai Meeting, he has been fined Rs.1,000/-.
The Sr.V.O. reported that GOLD GLAMOUR was pulled up after crossing the winning post. On examination, the filly was found to be sore by the left hind leg. Also, the filly had a cut injury at the left hind fetlock. First Aid treatment was given and the filly was sent to the Equine Hospital by Horse Ambulance for further management. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
GOLD GLAMOUR (Liam Patrick Jones) was placed fifth and ART OF ENCHANTMENT (David Allan) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.
RACE NO.7(70) – THE P.D.BOLTON TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 8
App.Prabhu Naidu (EMERGING STAR, dr.8) has been fined Rs. 2000/- for coming in sharply after jump out.
After the race, DELACROIX and SMART STRIDER were found to be sound.
RACE NO.8(71) – THE UTTAM SINGH TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 13
After being stalled, SILVER LINING (P.Trevor, dr.2) collapsed in the gate. The filly was treated immediately but could not be revived. Due to the above incident, LET IT FLY (App.Nikhil Bhujbal, dr.3) also played up. LET IT FLY was unloaded and examined by the Club’s V.O. and found to have suffered bleeding gum injury and bleeding cut injuries just below the right stifle, as such she was certified unfit to race. Both the horses were withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainer Narendra Lagad is required to obtain a fitness certificate for LET IT FLY from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race the filly.
Jockey Malcolm Kharadi (EDGE OF GLORY, dr.14) has been fined Rs.2,000/- for coming in sharply after jump out.
Jockey Kavraj Singh (SUKI SUKI) reported that his filly was inclined to run out in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
BEER HAND (A.Sandesh) did not get a clear run in the straight.
After the race, SUKI SUKI, ALEJANDRA and EDGE OF GLORY were found to be sound.
The post race urine sample of the winner of 3rd, 5th, 6th & 7th race, viz. CARUSO, STAR TRAINER, VIJAYS PRIDE and ISHPINGO, as also that of RANTHAMBHORE & AMADEUS (5th race) and SHOWIN’OFF, PORTIA & NEONA (6th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
