RACE DAY REPORTS
THERE WERE NO FALSE RAILS
RACE NO 1 (140) THE DOUBLE BULL PLATE (DIV.II): (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – Runners – 7
At the request of Trainer Sanjay Kolse, DANCING JENNY was examined on 0830 hours on 16/09/2011 (race day) and was found to be sore by the right fore leg. As such, the filly was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn from the race on veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
At the start, LADY GENEREUSE (P.Kamlesh) began awkwardly and in the process inconvenienced ADAMS PRINCE (C.S.Jodha).
Jockey M.A.Roushan (THIS IS IT) reported that his mount raced erratically during the race and negotiating the bend the filly travelled wide. Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.
After the race, ADAMS PRINCE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and also had an abrasion at both hind fetlock. The gelding is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, THIS IS IT was found to be sound, having an abrasion at the left hind pastern.
RACE NO 2 (141) THE DOUBLE BULL PLATE (DIV.I): (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – Runners – 9
The explanation of Jockey Kavraj Singh (IVORY MINT) that his mount tried to veer to the outside and therefore lost ground at the start was noted.
Near 300 metres, GRANT PARK (A.Sandesh) was held up for a few strides.
Trainer H.J.Antia was questioned regarding the poor performance of CIRCUS RING. The Instructions were to be well up. Tr.Antia added that the horse was right there till 400 metres or so and then fizzled out. Jockey B.Prakash reported that his mount did not improve in the straight. The explanation was noted.
After the race, IVORY MINT, CIRCUS RING & FREANY were found to be sound. GRANT PARK had a lower gum injury.
RACE NO 3 (142) THE MYSORE RACE CLUB CUP: (ABOUT) 2400 METRES – Runners – 3
An Objection was lodged by Jockey P.Trevor, rider of STAR ALLIANCE ( placed 2nd) against Jockey S.Zervan, the rider of CAMACHO (placed first). The reason that after 800 metres, CAMACHO (S.Zervan) started coming on to him because of which he had to ease up his mount and at about 600 metrres he had to check his mount and this cost him a certain race.
After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.
Near 500 metres, STAR ALLIANCE (P.Trevor) was steadied and ridden in check as the former was tightened when CLARION CALL (Kavraj Singh) shifted inwards. Jockey Kavraj Singh has been fined Rs.2000/-
Jockey S.Zervan (STAR ALLIANCE) has been fined Rs.3000/- for riding an over-confident race and cautioned for the future.
After the race, STAR ALLIANCE was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind bulb of heel.
RACE NO 4. (143) THE ENAKSI PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres. Runners – 7
At the start, FORWARD CHARGE (Ladjadj Stephane) drifted out and went on to MIDSUMMER KNIGHT (Akash Agarwal) who in turn jostled with SAN RAFAEL (C.Rajendra).
At the start, SAN RAFAEL (C.Rajendra) jumped out awkwardly and went on GREAT WHITE (D.K.Ashish).
Soon after the start, GREAT WHITE (D.K.Ashish) shifted in and inconvenienced SAN RAFAEL (C.Rajendra). Jockey D.K.Ashish has been cautioned.
Near 1000 metres, ARISTOCRATIC (P.Kamlesh) shifted out as the horse was being steadied and caused TAKESTWOTOTANGO (Neeraj Rawal) to travel wide and in the process inconvenienced GREAT WHITE (D.K.Ashish).
After the race, MYSTIC TEMPLE was found to be sound.
RACE NO 5. (144) THE GOODWILL PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres. Runners – 8
At the start, AUGUSTUS (Vikram Jodha) tried to veer to the outside.
Approaching 800 metres, WORD OF HONOUR (Amyn Merchant) shifted ground inwards and made contact with MUMBAI KING (Aadesh Kumar) who shifted in and made contact with VENEZIANO (P.S.Chouhan) and in the process MUMBAI KING lost position. Jockey Amyn Merchant has been cautioned.
VENEZIANO (P.S.Chouhan) hung out in the straight and in the process hampered the running of WORD OF HONOUR (Amyn Merchant). Trainer Zadmal Singh has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.
After the race, VENEZIANO was found to be sound, having a cut injury at the right hind cannon.
RACE NO 6. (145) THE FINE ARROW PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres. Runners – 8
EYE OF THE STORM (Shrikant Kamble) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Near 1300 metres, GOLDEN GRACE (M.A.Roushan) shifted in and went across ARABIAN EAGLE (Aadesh Kumar). As such, Jockey M.A.Roushan has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
Jockeys Shrikant Kamble (EYE OF THE STORM) and C.S.Jodha (SADDLERS RULE) were observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on their respective mount. Jockey Shrikant Kamble has been fined Rs.3000/- (second offence) and Jockey C.S.Jodha has been fined Rs.1000/-.
Jockey M.A.Roushan (GOLDEN GRACE) reported loss of whip near 300 metres. This being the second instance of loss of whip during the current Pune Meeting, he has been fined Rs.1000/-.
After the race, GOLDEN GRACE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. Also, the mare had a cut injury at the left thigh. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, EYE OF THE STORM & SOLAR ANGEL were found to be sound. EYE OF THE STORM had a gum injury.
RACE NO 7. (146) THE GOODWILL PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres. Runners – 8
At the start, BORDERLINE (C.S.Jodha) veered outwards.
OUT OF MY WAY (P.S.Chouhan) kept an erratic course in the final 200 metres. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, COCCINELLA, OUT OF MY WAY and FOLLOW THE DREAM were found to be sound. COCCINELLA had lost its right fore plate.
RACE NO 8. (147) THE ROSHAN ARA PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres. Runners – 11
HIGH SOCIETY (D.K.Ashish) lost about 2 lengths at the start.
At the start, STERLING SILVER (Shrikant Kamble) drifted out and made contact with AWESOMENESS (Kavraj Singh).
Near 1000 metres, AWESOMENESS (Kavraj Singh) kept an erratic course due to which ORITO (Y.S.Srinath) shifted out and went on to STERING SILVER (Shrikant Kamble) who in turn went out on to BOLD DANCER (M.A.Roushan). Jockey Kavraj Singh has been cautioned.
Passing 800 metres, ALWAYS SMILE (C.Rajendra) lugged out and in the process of correcting his mount, the gelding shifted inwards due to which STERLING SILVER (Shrikant Kamble) was tightened and lost position and as the filly was steadied, she made contact with ZARACHA (C.S.Jodha). Trainer HJ Antia has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, BOLD DANCER was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, ZARACHA was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind coronet.
RACE NO 9. (148) THE ACCADEMIA PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres. Runners – 12
WINCHESTER (C.Rajendra) dislodged the rider on the way to the start and bolted. After consultation with the Trainer, the horse was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order.
At the start, DOCTOR NO (Akshay) shifted inwards and took the running of ITSDAWNOFRACING (A.Ashad Asbar) who was checked. Jockey Akshay has been cautioned.
Approaching 800 metres, TAG ALONG TOMMY (M.A.Roushan) clipped the heels of MONARCHOS (J.Chinoy) and stumbled.
Passing 600 metres, TEODOR (Akash Agarwal) lugged in and took the running of TAG ALONG TOMMY (M.A.Roushan) who was checked and dropped back and in doing so hampered the running of ITSDAWNOFRACING (A.Ashad Asbar). Since the incident was accidental, no action was initiated.
ARSHAVIN (A.M.Tograllu) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Suresh Chavan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
Jockey J.Chinoy (MONARCHOS) has been asked to continue making an effort till past the Post on his mounts in future.
After the race, TAG ALONG TOMMY, WINCHESTER & MONARCHOS were found to be sound. TAG ALONG TOMMY had a cut injury at the right hind fetlock.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2nd, 5th and 9th race, viz. APPLAUD, ARCTIC MINSTREL & ASHWA PRAHAR and the special sample of ADAMS PRINCE & KIMAYA (1st race), CIRCUS RING (2nd race), ARISTOCRATIC (4th race), AUGUSTUS (5th race) and COCCINELLA & FOLLOW THE DREAM (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : NON-MAINTAINANCE OF VETERINARY LOG BOOK BY TRAINER SANGRAMSINH N.JOSHI :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Friday, 16th September, 2011 interviewed Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi in the above connection and having heard the submission made by him the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of not maintaining a Veterinary Log Book thereby contravening the Calendar Notification dated 27th August 1989 in this regard. However, keeping in mind that he had admitted his guilt and apologized for the same, the Stewards took a lenient view and decided to fine him a sum of Rs.15,000/- and to severely caution him for the future.
RE : STEWARDS ENQUIRY IN RACE NO.97 – THE GRUEZI PLATE RUN ON 28TH AUGUST, 2011 – JOCKEY NEERAJ RAWAL, RIDER OF “FORTUNE HUNTER” – CARELESS RIDING :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Friday, 16th September, 2011 interviewed Jockey Neeraj Rawal in the above connection and having heard the submission made by him and viewing the video recording of the race, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Neeraj Rawal, held him guilty of careless riding on his mount FORTUNE HUNTER. In that at about 800 metres, FORTUNE HUNTER shifted out and caused interference to AMBROSIA (Malcolm Kharadi). Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license for 1st October, 2011 for careless riding on his mount. Further, he was warned to be more careful in the future.
RE : RACE NO.139 – THE DEDICATION PLATE RUN ON 11TH SEPTEMBER, 2011 – JOCKEY D.S.RATHORE, RIDER OF “ARABIAN ROCK” – REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR CARELESS RIDING :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Friday, 16th September, 2011 interviewed Jockey D.S.Rathore in the above connection and having heard the submission made by him and viewing the video recording of the race, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey D.S.Rathore and held him guilty of careless riding on his mount. In that, ARABIAN ROCK shifted out near 500 metres and took the running of MISCHEVIOUS Z (Dashrath Singh) who clipped the hind heels of ARABIAN ROCK and stumbled. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license for 1st October, 2011 (permitted to ride work/mock race). Further, he was warned to be more careful in the future.
RE :ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “TAANUSH” IN RACE NO 113 RUN ON 4TH SEPTEMBER 2011.
The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Sangramsinh.N.Joshi and Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi in the above connection. Tr.Joshi stated that he had instructed Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi to settle the horse in a 5th/ 6th position and to do his best in the straight. He further stated that the jockey had taken an undue lead from the 1400 meters which he had subsequently informed the Stipendiary Stewards.
Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi confirmed the instructions and added that the horse was sluggish in the initial part of the race and therefore he alerted the gelding to maintain his position. Thereafter he found himself on the extreme outside of the field, as such, in order to avoid travelling wide, he kept niggling the gelding into a front position close to the rails. Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi was informed that he had failed to follow the Trainer’s instructions resulting in the gelding taking a long lead through the uphill and finally having nothing left in the final stages of the race.
Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi, he was fined a sum of Rs. 2000/- and warned to be more judicious with his riding in the future.
RE : WITHDRAWAL OF TRAINER SURESH CHAVAN’S LICENSE W.E.F. 14/09/2011 AND NOT TO GRANT HIM THE SAME TILL 13/09/2013 – ENQ. INTO THE COMPLAINT BY THE OWNERS MR.& MRS.SAYEED ARKATI AGAINST HIM :
Trainer Suresh Chavan has appeal against the above decision of the Stewards of the Club. The Board of Appeal has granted a Stay of the above punishment until Trainer Suresh Chavan’s appeal is heard.
