ADDITIONAL REPORT/S:
RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RIDING OF JOCKEY S.ZERVAN ON “APACHE” IN RACE NO.261 – THE SAHACHARI FOUNDATION CUP RUN ON 13TH MARCH, 2014 – AFTER A STEWARDS ENQUIRY, APACHE WAS DECLARED A NON STARTER :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 16th March, 2014 interviewed Jockey S.Zervan in the above connection. They considered all papers and documents and having heard all the submissions made by Jockey S.Zervan, including his letter dated 15th March, 2014 in reply to the Show Cause and after viewing the video recording of Race No.261 as also the incident of the whip fall, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey S.Zervan. The Stewards noted he waited far too long to make his move in the straight, which he himself admitted. Even when JACK FROST came alongside up to his quarters, he still kept waiting and thereafter lost his whip at a crucial part of the race and the fall of the whip looked suspicious. The Stewards noted that Trainer P.Shroff also concurred with the Stewards view that Jockey S.Zervan had made his move late which may have cost him the race. The Stewards noted Jockey S.Zervan’s past record wherein action was taken against him for similar offences.
However, taking an overall view and keeping in mind that there was no drift in the odds of APACHE, the Stewards decided to give him the benefit of grave doubt for the charge of “unsatisfactory riding” although the horse was declared a Non-starter and held him guilty of injudicious and over confident riding which may have cost him the race. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 5th April, 2014 to 27th April, 2014 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).

As per the Medication Rules, Trainer Mansoor Shah was required to inform to the Sr.Veterinary Officer of the Club, in writing, within five days of opening the envelope that identifies the sample i.e. latest by 11th March, 2014 whether he wished the split sample of your charge HIDDEN ASSET to go to The Hong Kong Jockey Club Lab or L.C.H., France,, for Confirmatory Analysis and also the name of the Witnessing Analyst, if any, failing which the Stewards shall treat the report of the Primary Laboratory as conclusive.
