He added that he was as surprised as any other person, with the performance of his horse. RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “APOCALYPSE” IN RAE NO.76 – THE KEJRIWAL TROPHY (DIV.II) RUN ON 18TH DECEMBER, 2011 – TRAINER MANSOOR SHAH AND JOCKEY F.IRANI :
The Stewards at their meeting held on Sunday, 15th January, 2012 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry. The Stewards interviewed Trainer Mansoor Shah and Jockey F.Irani and having heard the submission made and having viewed the video recording of the race, decided :-
a) to severely warn Jockey F.Irani for feeble handling of APOCALYPSE in Race No.76. Jockey F.Irani was told to treat this as a final warning and a repetition of similar riding, he would be liable for severe action
b) to fine Trainer Mansoor Shah a sum of Rs.10,000/- for giving misleading evidence in the enquiry.

RE :ENQUIRY INTO THE APPARENT IMPROVED PERFORMANCE OF “EXUBERANCE” IN RACE NO.120 – THE THUNDER BIRD PLATE (1400 METRES) RUN ON 5TH JANUARY, 2012 AS COMPARED TO HIS PREVIOUS START IN RACE NO.79 – THE G.ESSAJI TROPHY RUN ON 18TH DECEMBER, 2011 WHERE HE WAS UNPLACED:
The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Mansoor Shah in the above connection. He said that in the previous race run over 1600 metres on 18th December, 2011 EXUBERANCE had jumped awkwardly bumping the horse on his outside, it was a strong field of 3-year olds including SERGEANT PEPPER and KING JULIEN. EXUBERANCE was the oldest horse in the field of 8 runners. That was his first attempt at a 1600 metres race. The horse had travelled in about 5th or 6th place after jumping awkwardly and lugged out in the straight and that he had been informed to take remedial measures to correct the gelding. This was confirmed in the race day report. In that race, the first two horses were 8 ¾ lengths ahead of the third horse.
Trainer Mansoor Shah said that he had put up a more experience and a stronger rider on EXUBERANCE this time in Race No.120 run on 5th January, 2012 in an effort to stop the gelding from hanging out but the horse was still inclinded to shift outwards. He said that this time the horse was drawn better in Gate-1 and went straight from the barriers to obtain a better position in the race, possibly as he had a field of horses on his outside in this event. He said that the drop in class assisted the gelding; it was of a shorter distance and for 5 year olds and over. Mr.Shah thought the horse had a place chance in the race.
An examination of Mr.Shah’s Medication and Work Log Books confirmed that there was no change to the preparation given to EXUBERANCE leading up to both races.
The explanation was noted.
RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF “HIGHWAY EXPRESS” IN RACE NO.100 – THE FRIDA KAHLO PLATE RUN ON 29TH DECEMBER, 2011:
The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Dallas Todywalla in the above connection. He said that this filly has performed consistently in the past, she was always on board, however, in Mumbai she was not looking well, she had lost her coat. Even in Race No.44 which was the first run of the filly, she was not looking well and yet she had run a decent fourth and after that race, he had kept the filly in light work and kept her fresh and she eats her feed well but her coat did not improve and he raced her again at the Owners’ wish and was hoping that she may squeeze it in this time also. To another question, Trainer Dallas Todywalla admitted that in all her past races the filly was ridden by Jockeys who had a whip but this time the filly was carrying top weight and he put up a 5 kg allowance claiming boy who did not have a whip which could be another reason for her poor performance. He said that after the race he had the filly scoped and the report was clean. He said that he had informed the Owners that he will not race the filly again until she improves her coat.
After scrutinizing the log books and viewing the video recording of the race, the explanation tendered by Trainer Dallas Todywalla was noted.
