RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 6 METRES  AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 10 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 12 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

CHANGE OF JOCKEYS:

 

Jockey Y. S. Srinath failed to fulfil his riding engagements for the day. As such, the Stewards permitted the following change of Jockeys:

RACE NO.1(44) –THE MACHIAVELLIANISM PLATE: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners - 5 

 

At the request of Jockey T. S. Jodha the saddle on his mount CARE FREE was adjusted at the Starting Gates.

 

After the race, DAZZLING EYES was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(45) – THE MURIOI PLATE: (About) 1800 Metres – Runners - 5

 

Jockey C. S. Jodha (GLORIOUS EYES.) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence, he has been fined Rs. 3,000/-.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of SUSSEX PRIDE in this race and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

RACE NO.3(46) –THE DHUN P.KOTHAVALA TROPHY:(About) 1400 Metres – Runners- 9 

 

After the race, BEWITCHED, BOADICEA and LOVELY KUDI (examined on 15/12/2017) were trotted and found to be sound. BOADICEA had a cut injury at the left hind coronet.

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that at the request of Trainer M. K. Jadhav, PARDON MY DUST was scoped on 15th December, 2017 and was found to have EIPH Gr. III. Being a first time bleeder, the gelding is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.4(47) – THE BEAUTIFUL STRANGER PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres –Runners- 10 

 

Trainer Narendra Lagad has been fined Rs.1,000/- for racing his charge RISING CONCERT with bandages on both fore legs without obtaining prior permission for the same.

 

TAREEF (S. A. Amit) reared up as the start was effected thus losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

ARC OF PASSION (Amyn Merchant) jumped out slow losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, REALITY (Bhawani Singh, dr.10) jumped inwards and made contact with RISING CONCERT (App. N. B. Kuldeep, dr.9), who in turn shifted in thereby inconveniencing DANCE OF FIRE (T. S. Jodha). After the race, App. N. B. Kuldeep reported that he had lost his left stirrup soon after the start and was unbalanced and thereafter he regained the same passing the 600 metres.

 

After the race, Jockey T. S. Jodha (DANCE OF FIRE) reported that his mount hung out in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

An enquiry has been initiated  into the running and riding of DANCE OF FIRE  and BOHEMIAN  in this race and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the improved performance of BEE QUIRKY in this race and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, WHOOPSIDAISY and DANCE OF FIRE (examined on 15/12/2017) were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(48) – THE BEAUTIFUL STRANGER PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres –Runners- 11 

 

POINT THE STAR (App. Raghuveer Singh) jumped out throwing its head thus losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

ADAM’S CREATION (A. Imran Khan) lost its footing and stumbled after the start resulting in losing about 6 lengths at the start.

 

At the start, POINT THE START (App. Raghuveer Singh) was observed to have taken a fly jump. After the race, App. Raghuveer Singh reported that due to the above, he had lost his stirrup which he regained immediately.

 

At the start, GNOSTIC EYES (App. Shahrukh Khan, dr.5) jumped inwards and made contact with DECCAN KING (App. M. Ayyar, dr. 4).

 

After the race, Jockey D. S. Daman (BLITZKRIEG) reported that his mount hung out in the straight. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, ADAM’S CREATION was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, SARRAZIN and TOP WIZARD (examined on 15/12/2017) were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(49) – THE ALDEBURGH PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 12

 

At the start, MAKE IT SHINE (S. G. Prasad, dr.5) jumped outwards on to SPONTANEOUS EDDIE (App. Raghuveer Singh, dr.6) who had to be checked.

 

Soon after the start, BIDSTONE HILL (S. S. Baria) shifted in and went across MAKE IT SHINE (S. G. Prasad) and ZABISCO (Amyn Merchant) who had to be steadied. Jockey S. S. Baria has been cautioned.

 

Passing 400 metres, MAKE IT SHINE (S. G. Prasad) was observed to have drifted out and finished the race on the extreme outside. Since the mare had behaved in a similar manner in the past, Trainer Vijay Kasbekar has been asked to take remedial measures and to show his charge to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a Mock Race, before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching 200 metres, SUPER ICON (App. R. Ajinkya) shifted out and carried BACKSTREET BAY (A. Imran Khan) outwards. App. R. Ajinkya has been cautioned.

 

Passing 150 metres, SPEED OF SOUND (P. Trevor) shifted out and bumped SUPER ICON (App. R. Ajinkya) who had to be checked. Thereafter, SPEED OF SOUND further shifted out and made contact with BACKSTREET BAY (A. Imran Khan). Jockey P. Trevor has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Approaching 100 metres, Jockey A. Imran Khan (BACKSTREET BAY) was observed to have lost his whip. This being the first instance, no action has been initiated against the Jockey.

 

After the race, SUPER ICON and ZABISCO were found to be sore by the right fore leg.  Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, SPEED OF SOUND and MAKE IT SHINE were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(50) – THE ABEETA PLATE : (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 10 

 

JIMBO (App. K. Nazil) was reluctant to reach the starting point. Trainer Asad Siddiqui has been asked to take remedial measures.

 

At the start, CRYSTAL BALL (B. Nikhil, dr.2) jumped outwards on to BENEZEER (A. Imran Khan, dr.3), who in turn shifted out on to DOMINATION (S. Mosin, dr.4) and at the same time JIMBO (App. K. Nazil, dr. 5) jumped inwards thereby tightening DOMINATION (S. Mosin dr. 4) who had to be steadied.

 

Soon after the start, INDIAN SERENADE (Dashrath Singh) shifted in and went across JIMBO (App. K. Nazil) and tightened BENEZEER (A. Imran Khan) who had to be steadied. Jockey Dashrath Singh has been cautioned.

 

Passing 400 metres, GLORIOUS LAND (App. Raghuveer Singh) shifted out and carried DOUBLE NINE (P. S. Chouhan) outwards. After the race, App. Raghuveer Singh reported that his mount hung out. Trainer Adil Dajee has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Passing 300 metres, ALMOST MAGICAL (Bhawani Singh) shifted out on to BENEZEER (A. Imran Khan) who in turn shifted out on to JIMBO (App. K. Nazil). Jockey Bhawani Singh has been cautioned.

 

After the race, BENEZEER was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ALMOST MAGICAL was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind fetlock. INDIAN SERENADE, GLORIOUS LAND and CRYSTAL BALL were found to be sound in the trot.

 

RACE NO.8(51) – THE RAPIDASH PLATE : (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 11 

 

At the request of Trainer Faisal A. Abbas, NIGHTFALL was examined at 1105 hours on 14/12/2017 and was found to be sore by the left hind leg with swelling on both hind legs. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, ROOSEVELT (A. Sandesh) was observed to have overreached and clipped KALINA (App. H. Zeeshan) and was unbalanced thereby dislodging the rider. Due to this incident, KISS FROM A ROSE (R. Ajinkya) was inconvenienced.

 

Approaching 1000 metres, HARMONY OF THE SEA (A. Imran Khan) was observed to have stumbled and had to be steadied.

 

After the race, HARMONY OF THE SEA was found to have a cut injury at the left fore cannon. The filly was examined again at the stables in the morning on 15/12/2017 and found to be sore by the left fore leg.  The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, POKERFACE and KALINA were trotted and found to be sound.

 

The urine samples of the winner of the 2nd, 5th, 6th and 8th race, viz. GLORIOUS EYES, BLITZKRIEG, BACKSTREET BAY and MOONSHINE, and the special sample of DAZZLING EYES (1st race) and DANCE OF FIRE (4th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “BROTHERSOFTHEWIND” IN RACE NO.5 – THE SMT. PADAM & RTN. DARSHAN CHADDA, A CHADDA FAMILY CHARITIES & ROTARY CLUB OF MUMBAI DOWNTOWN SEALAND TROPHY RUN ON 19th NOVEMBER, 2017 – JOCKEY S. S. BARIA SUSPENDED BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS W.E.F. 22/12/2017 TO 24/12/2017 FOR INDIFFERENT RIDING :

 

Jockey S. S. Baria submitted a letter dated 11th December, 2017 stating that he did not wish to appeal against the above decision of the Stipendiary Stewards and would like his punishment to start earlier.

 

In view of the above, Jockey S. S. Baria’s license now stands suspended w.e.f. 16th December, 2017 to 17th December, 2017 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).
