RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED  6 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 10 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 11 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST.  

 

RACE NO.1(251)  – THE A.HOYT PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 14  

 

At the start, LUCKY RED (V.Chandrakant, dr.3) shifted out after an awkward jump and went on to PLATED (T.S.Jodha, dr.4). ARMIEL (Hanumant Singh) began awkwardly.

 

TOPTRICK (A.Ashhad Asbar) hung out in the straight. Trainer Anil Kumar has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

After the race, PORT BLAIR was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, WILLTELL was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(252)  – THE  SECRET TREASURE PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 6  

 

Trainer P.Shroff and Jockey S.Zervan were questioned regarding the running and riding of MONTEZUMA. Trainer P.Shroff said that he had told the Jockey that there would be no pace in the race, however, he should not go to the front but settle him  behind a horse and give him a chance since he was carrying 61 kg. and to ride his race from there.  When asked about his observation, Tr.P.Shroff stated that the Jockey expected HIDDEN GOODNESS to come back on him and in that respect he had misjudged the race, he should have made his move sooner than he actually did. Jockey S.Zervan confirmed the instructions and added that the distance of mile and longer is more suitable for the horse but the pace was slow in this race. The video recording of the race was viewed and it was pointed out to Jockey S.Zervan that he should have made his move earlier than he did. Jockey S.Zervan had no further explanation to offer. The matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit. Consideration of the mater was deferred to the next meeting of the Stewards.

 

After the race, HOME ADVANTAGE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, HIDDEN GOODNESS was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind bulb of heel. MONTEZUMA was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(253) – THE P.A. d’AVOINE TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 12

 

At the start, STAR GAZING (Akshay, dr.4) was tightened as ASAHI (Vikram Walkar, dr.3) jumped awkwardly outwards and carried STAR GAZING outwards and at the same time SUN SALUTATION (J.Fortune, dr.5) shifted inwards.  

 

Near 600 metres, ROCKING (Altaf Sayyed) shifted out due to the bend and hampered the running of TAAL AMMI (S.Sunil).

 

After the race, TAAL AMMI, WIND CRAFT and ROCKING were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(254) –THE  GOLD STAR PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 10

 

STRIKING GIRL (Shrikant Kamble) jumped out throwing its head thus losing about 3 lengths at the start. Since the filly had behaved in a similar manner in her previous outings, Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials,  before next accepting with her to race.

 

LIGHT MY WAY (P.Trevor) was tightened and eased off due to lack of room, in the early part of the race.

 

Passing 1400 metres, IBIS (T.S.jodha) was tightened while racing on the outside of SONG OF PRAISE (A.Sandesh) and was steadied and lost position.

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (JEN’S GLORY) reported loss of his whip near 100 metres.

 

STRIKING GIRL (Shrikant Kamble) was inclined to lug out in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, LIGHT MY WAY was found to be sound, but having a bruise at the left fore fetlock. Also, the gelding had lost its left fore plate. KALINGA STAR had a gum injury. VINCERO, SONG OF PRAISE and STRIKING GIRL (examined on 15/03/2013) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(255) – THE  HAUNTING MEMORIES TROPHY:(About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 8

 

Near 800 metres, SHARAARAT (A.Sandesh) leaned inwards and tightened VISIONIST (App.Prasad), who in turn went in on to ANAHI (P.Trevor). Jockey A.Sandesh has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.  

 

After the race, WINGS OF GLORY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and also had an abrasion on the tongue. The gelding is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, DELACROIX was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ANAHI and SHARAARAT (examined on 15/03/3013) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 (256) – THE  FLASHING STAR PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 10

 

Soon after the start, MONSIEUR STRAUSS (Shammi Khan) was steadied due to lack of room.

 

Near 700 metres, GRAND MARCH (App.Prasad) raced keen and in trying to settle, the gelding went out on to MONSIEUR STRAUSS (Shammi Khan) who carried HOME FACTOR (R.Shelar) outwards.

 

Approaching 600 metres, SHABDEEZ (Vikram Jodha) was hampered for a run as HOME FACTOR (R.Shelar) shifted in. Jockey R.Shelar has been cautioned.

 

Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar (REIN IN SPAIN) reported that his mount did not get a clear run between 400 and 300 metres.

 

After the race, REIN IN SPAIN was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind fetlock. SHABDEEZ and TITLEIST (both examined on 15/03/3013) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(257) – THE  P.A.d’AVOINE TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 13

 

At the Start, ORIENTAL MASTI (T.S.Jodha, dr.10) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to MZURI (A.Ashhad Asbar, dr.9).

Between 300 metres and 200 metres, Jockey S.Zervan (WOLFGANG) fumbled with his left rein.

 

Jockey D.K.Ashish (AIGAION) has been fined Rs.2,000/- for improper use of the whip wherein he used the whip with his left hand as his mount shifted inwards and went across the field on his inside.

 

After the race, SU O MOTO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, WOLFGANG was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, CANDID FURY and GATES OF HEAVEN were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(258) – THE  NADIA MARY HOMI WADIA CUP: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 10

 

The bridle on SWASHBUCKLER (Malcolm Kharadi) displaced during the race and the bit was lodged on the left cheek of the gelding. As such, Trainer P.Shroff has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that BEAU ROYALE  was examined at the stables on 15/03/2013 and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9(259) – THE  A.HOYT PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 14

 

At the start, SUN HOT (Kavraj Singh) jumped awkwardly outwards and caused a chain reaction wherein SUN HOT went on to ICE EMPIRE (Akshay) who went  on to GOTTAWEARSHADES (Hanumant Singh) who in turn went on to DREAMLINER (P.Trevor).

Soon after the start, ELABORATOR (R.Shelar) hung outwards and raced along the outer rails, taking no practical part in the race. Trainer Ivor Fernandes has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (SUN HOT) was observed not to have persevered with his mount throughout the straight, as such he has been fined Rs.10,000/-.

 

After the race, ASTROMIA, QUEENS KISS, BE COOL, MOUNTAIN TREASURE, FOLLOW ME, SARISKA, SUN HOT, DREAMLINER and ELABORATOR  were found to be sound. SARISKA had a gum injury.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th race viz. HIDDEN GOODNESS, JEN’S GLORY, ANAHI and SO TRUE, and the special sample of MONTEZUMA (2nd race), WINGS OF GLORY (5th race) and SU O MOTO (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
