RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT THE ORIGINAL POINT.

 

On a request from Trainer S. S. Attaollahi, permission was granted to Trainer P. Shroff to saddle his charge WEST BROOK in the 6th race, at his own (Trainer S. S. Attaollahi’s) risk and responsibility.

 

RACE NO.1 (65) – THE MARCHETTA TROPHY  - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS -  10

 

At the request of Jockey F. Norton (MI ARION), the saddle used on his mount was readjusted in the paddock.

 

At the start, RECIPROCITY (S. A. Amit, dr.2) jumped outwards onto TICANTO (M. S. Deora, dr.3) who was marginally slow to begin causing the latter to be steadied. Jockey S. A. Amit has been cautioned.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of RECIPROCITY (S. A. Amit) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, TICANTO & RECIPROCITY were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (66) – THE P. D. AVASIA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 4

 

After the race, Jockey R. Ajinkya (BUCKLEY) reported that his mount was hanging – in in the straight. The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the running and riding of BUCKLEY (R. Ajinkya) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, BUCKLEY was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3 (67) – THE YAWAR RASHID TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS -  5

 

It was observed that the saddle used on ZARAK (K. Nazil) shifted forward during the race. On being questioned, Jockey K. Nazil stated that since the saddle shifting forward he had no control and lost his balance, as such, he had to pull him out and stop riding. This being the first instance of faulty saddling during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, Trainer S. Waheed has been fined Rs.2,000/.

 

After the race, ZARAK was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore, as such, the gelding has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.4 (68) – THE UTTAM SINGH TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES –RUNNERS- 7

 

At the start, LION KING (M. S. Deora, dr.1) jumped outwards thereby bumping and taking the ground of MIDAS TOUCH (Amyn Merchant, dr.2) who had to be steadied.

 

At the start, METZINGER (App. N. Bhosale, dr.3) leaned outwards at the same time GIANT KING (Yash Narredu, dr.6) shifted in under urgings thereby tightening ANGELO (P. S. Chouhan, dr.4) and IDEALISTA (Neeraj Rawal, dr.5) drawn between them causing both horses to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey Yash Narredu has been fined Rs. 3,000/-.

 

Approaching the 1500 metres, it was observed that LION KING (M. S. Deora) veered out and in the rider’s effort to control his mount the bit was displaced. Trainer Shazaan Shah has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

Passing the 300 metres, ANGELO (P. S. Chouhan) shifted in and went across IDEALISTA (Neeraj Rawal) who had to be steadied. Thereafter, ANGELO (P. S. Chouhan) was observed to have maintained an erratic course. After the race, ANGELO was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore. The gelding was once again examined at the stables on 15th January 2024 and was found to be sore by right hind, as such, the gelding has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.5 (69) – THE GOOL S. POONAWALLA MILLION  (Grade 3): (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 4

 

PYRITE (K. Nazil, dr.3) refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts, as such, the filly was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Trainer S. Waheed has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, FIORENTINI (P. S. Chouhan, dr.1) jumped outwards onto FLASHMAN (S. Saqlain, dr.2) who had to be steadied.

 

Approaching the 200 metres, it was observed that FLASHMAN (S. Saqlain) shied away from FIELD OF DREAMS (N. S. Parmar) and FIORENTINI (P. S. Chouhan) thereby losing its footing momentarily.

 

After the race, Jockey N. S. Parmar (FIELD OF DREAMS) reported that his mount was hanging-in in the straight, despite his efforts. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, Jockey P. S. Chouhan (FIORENTINI) reported that his mount was inclined outwards throughout the race.

 

After the race, FIORENTINI was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 (70) –  THE RAMNIWAS RAMNARAIN RUIA GOLD CUP  (Grade 3): (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS - 6

 

At the start, EL GRECO (P. S. Chouhan, dr.6) veered out and had to be steadied.

 

At the start, WEST BROOK (F. Norton, dr.2) jumped inwards and went across SYNTHESIS (Suraj Narredu, dr.2) who had to be steadied.

 

After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (CAPITOLIUM) reported that his mount was inclined outwards in the straight despite his efforts. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (CAPITOLIUM) reported that the saddle used on his mount had shifted to the right during the race. This being the first instance of faulty saddling during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, Trainer P. Shroff has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

After the race, SYNTHESIS was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore, as such, the colt has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.7 (71) –  THE VILLOO C. POONAWALLA INDIAN OAKS  (Grade 1): (ABOUT) 2400 METRES – RUNNERS - 5

 

At the start, ALOYSIA (R. Ajinkya, dr.1) jumped outwards onto WAIKIKI (N. S. Parmar, dr.2) who had to be steadied.

 

It was observed that JENDAYI (Oisin Murphy) was inclined outwards in the straight, despite the rider’s efforts. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, Jockey S. Saqlain (AMEERAH) reported that his mount was hanging-in in straight, despite his efforts. Trainer S. K. Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, CORDELIA was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, AMEERAH was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8 (72) –  THE TRICUMDAS DWARKADAS TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 14

 

FREMONT (M. S. Deora, dr.9) reared up behind the gates thereby dislodging its rider and flipped over, as such, the gelding was examined by the Club’s V.O., who certified him fit to race.

 

Passing the 400 metres, INTO THE STORM (Santosh G.) shifted out under the use of whip thereby tightening and inconveniencing MAZAL (Neeraj Rawal) causing the latter to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey Santosh G. has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, ARIES, SHOWMAN, CONSTABLE & FREMONT were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9 (73) –  THE MARCHETTA TROPHY  - DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 11

 

At the start, DASHMESH DANCER (P. Vinod, dr.11) shifted in under urgings thereby tightening and inconveniencing IMPULSIVE (Bhawani Singh, dr.10) who in turn shifted in thereby bumping STREET SENSE (Vishal N. Bunde, dr.9) causing both horses to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey P. Vinod has been suspended for one race day i.e. on 3rd February, 2024 (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

Approaching the 400 metres, DASHMESH DANCER (P. Vinod) shifted out under urgings due to which STREET SENSE (Vishal N. Bunde) racing on its haunches had to check and change course as a result DOWSABEL (Amyn Merchant) and MIGHTY THUNDER (App. Mustakim Alam) were inconvenienced. Jockey P. Vinod has been severely reprimanded.

 

After the race, GOLDEN RULE was trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 2nd & 8th race, viz. SUPERLATIVE & PHENOM, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

 

The urine & blood samples of DASH (Winner – 5th race), FIELD OF DREAMS (2nd place – 5th race), ENABLER (Winner – 6th race), CHRISTOFLE (2nd place – 6th race), JENDAYI (Winner – 7th race), AMEERAH (2nd place – 7th race) & WAIKIKI (3rd place – 7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
