RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 5 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) UP TO 1200 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 9 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

On a request from Trainer Janardhan, permission was granted to Trainer Vinesh to saddle his charge WALKING TALL in the 1^st race, at his (Trainer Janardhan’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Shyam S.Habbu, permission was granted to Trainer P.Shroff to saddle his charge MONET in the 2^nd race, at his (Trainer Shyam S.Habbu’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(56) – THE GUEST CONNECTIONS PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 8

THE SAINT (C.S.Jodha) lugged-in in the straight and made contact with WALKING TALL (J.Chinoy) in the last 50 metres Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Jockey J.Chinoy (WALKING TALL) stated that he was asked to sit 2^nd/3^rd and to do his best in the straight. He said that the horse did not respond in the straight in spite of him being in a good position which may have been due to the horse carrying top weight.

After the race, TUDOR REGENT, WALKING TALL, ASHWA PRAHAR and THE SAINT were found to be sound.

RACE NO.2(57) – THE SIACHEN TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 4

Jockey Suraj Narredu (ICE COOL) has been fined Rs.3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

After the race, ICE COOL was found to be sound.

RACE NO.3(58) – THE AZIZ H.AHMEDBHOY TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 4

After the race, CHEMIN DE FER was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

RACE NO.4(59) – THE FREE RADICAL PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 16

ANGEL’S DREAM (Khalander) took a fly jump.

Jockey Khalander (ANGEL’S DREAM) has been severely cautioned for not making any efforts throughout the race.

Jockey J.Chinoy (PISTOL PACKIN MAMA) reported that the filly did not gallop comfortably all the way. The Sr.V.O. was requested to examine the filly and he reported that no abnormality was detected.

Trainer Narendra Lagad was questioned regarding poor performance of PISTOL PACKIN MAMA wherein she trailed the field. He said that he had instructed the jockey to sit in 5^th / 6^th position and to do his best in the straight. He further said that the jockeys who rode her in the past, have all stated the same thing about her action.

WAVES OF MAGIC (Amyn Merchant) lugged out in the straight. Trainer C.D.Katrak has been asked to take remedial measure before next accepting to race the gelding.

After the race, SPEEDING was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind fetlock. COQUETTE, NATIONAL PRIDE, PRIVATE NUMBER and ANGEL’S DREAM were found to be sound.

RACE NO.5(60) – THE FAIR ALWAYS PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 9

STAR BUILDER was withdrawn on Medication Grounds since it was found that the horse was medicated on 12^th December, 2012. Trainer H.J.Antia has been fined Rs. 15,000/- for his lapse.

EYE OF THE STORM (J.Chinoy) was reluctant to reach the starting point. Also, the mare took an awkward fly jump. Trainer Vinay Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race his charge.

Jockeys J.Chinoy (EYE OF THE STORM) and S.K.Jadhav (CHINGARI) reported that their horses did not respond throughout the race, hence they were unable to ride out their respective mounts. Trainer Vinay Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures with his above two charges .

The Sr.V.O. reported that ROSE BOWL stopped near the 600 metres mark. On examination, the gelding was found to be sore from the right fore leg. First Aid treatment was given and the gelding was sent to the Equine Hospital by Horse Ambulance for further management. Subsequently, the Hospital diagnosed as fracture of sesamoids of the left fore fetlock. As such, ROSE BOWL was euthanized on humane grounds.

Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi (SMOOTH OPERATOR) reported the loss of whip at the Winning Post.

After the race, EYE OF THE STORM was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind fetlock. FLYING STAR had a gum injury.

RACE NO.6(61) – THE AU PANACHE PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 7

CAPITAL ATTRACTION (Dashrath Singh) lost about a length at the start.

Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been fined Rs. 1,000/- for running his charge CYPRESS POINT in emergency colours “All Black”.

Jockeys Dashrath Singh (CAPITAL ATTRACTION) and Shrikant Kamble (WORD OF HONOUR) have been cautioned for shifting ground under the use of the whip, in the final stages of the race.

Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed was questioned regarding the Running and Riding of his charge ANGEL CROWN (I.Shaikh). He stated that the horse came to his charge two days before the Pune Derby and that was the horse’s first run with him. In that that race he had asked the jockey to go to the front since he has raced and won in that manner. However, in today’s race, the horse was carrying top weight and he wanted to try different tactics, as such he had asked the jockey to settle him but the horse was too keen and couldn’t be settled. He added that next time out, he will ask the Jockey to hit the front as he is a difficult horse to settle. The explanation was noted.

After the race, CARLYLE HILLS was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind fetlock. ANGEL CROWN and SOLOR were found to be sound.

RACE NO.7(62) – THE SNOW DEW PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 8

At the request of Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait, ILLUSTRIOUS was examined at 1700 hours on 11/12/2012 and was found to be suffering from colic, as such, the mare was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The trainer is required to obtain a Fitness Certificate for the mare from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

At the request of Trainer Faisal A.Abbas, IRRESISTIBLE HUNK was examined at 0745 hours on 12/12/2012 and was found to be sore by the left for leg, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

CHECK HER OUT (Ishwar Pardeshi) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

Jockey Daniel M.Grant (ESKIMO) has been cautioned for shifting in after the jump.

App.Prasad (MOUNTAIN MYNAH) was observed to have come in sharply soon after the start thereby causing interference to EDWINA (A.Sandesh) who had to be checked by its rider, as such he was reported to the Stewards for Careless Riding. The Stewards interviewed App.Prasad who was accompanied by his Master, Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi and having heard them and viewing the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by App.Prasad and decided to suspend his Apprentice Jockey’s license for 30^th December, 2012 (permitted to ride work/mock race) for careless riding. Further, he was warned to be more careful in the future.

Approaching 700 metres, MOUNTAIN MYNAH (App.Prasad) was hampered for room while racing between ESKIMO (Daniel M.Grant) and HAWK OF THE WIND (Dashrath Singh). The incident was accidental as such no action was initiated in the matter.

HAWK OF THE WIND (Dashrath Singh) and FOREST LEGION (D.K.Ahsish) lugged out in the straight. Trainers S K Sunderji and Karthik G. have been asked to take remedial measures with their respective charge, before next accepting to race.

Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed and Jockey I.Shaikh were questioned regarding for the running and riding of SCORCH. The trainer stated that since the filly is coming from a set back, he had asked the jockey to take a good jump and settle her and gradually improve his position. The video recording of the race was viewed and it was pointed out that Jockey I.Shaikh made no efforts throughout the race and did not give the filly any chance in the race to be with the field. Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered, both the Trainer and Jockey have been fined Rs. 5000/- each.

After the race, SCORCH and MOUNTAIN MYNAH were found to be sound.

RACE NO.8(63) – THE FREE RADICAL PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 16

ZIDAAN (App.Prabhu Naidu) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside and in trying to straighten the hose, he shifted in sharply thereby causing MATRIOSHKA (A.Sandesh) to be checked by its rider. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Trainer Altamaash Ahmed and Jockey I.Shaikh were questioned regarding the running and riding of BELLE BRISE. The trainer stated that the filly had come back from a surgery and therefore he had told the Jockey not to put any pressure on her. The video recording of the race was viewed and it was pointed out that Jockey I.Shaikh had made no efforts in the race despite the filly showing no signs of distress. Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered, Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed has been fined Rs.10,000/- and Jockey I.Shaikh has been fined Rs. 5000/- for not making any efforts on his mount. Further, both were severely cautioned for the future.

After the race, BANANA BOY was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, ZIDAAN, BELLE BRISE, LUCKY RED, ASLAN, MR MARMALADE and ORIENTAL MASTI were found to be sound. BELLE BRISE and ASLAN had a gum injury.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 1^st, 3^rd & 5^th race, viz. RIO DEL RAY, OKAVANGO and FLYING STAR and the special sample of ICE COOL (2^nd race), CHEMIN DE FER (3^rd race), STAR BUILDER (5^th race) and ZIDAAN (8^th race),were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
