RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 8 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 METRES, 10 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 12 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 13 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.

On a request from Trainer Janardhan, permission was granted to Trainer Vinesh to saddle his charge PAMUSHANA in the 7^thrace, at his (Trainer Janardhan’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(256) – THE ROYAL DEEDS PLATE:(About)1600 Metres– Runners - 9

ANGEL’S DREAM (Shrikant Kamble) who trailed the field from the start, stopped galloping near 800 metres.

Jockey S.G.Prasad (LIGHT UP MY DAY) reported the loss of whip near 300 metres. This being the second occasion of Jockey S.G.Prasad losing the whip during the current Mumbai meeting, he has been fined Rs.1,000/-.

After the race, PRINCE ARIUS was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

The Sr.V.O. reported that ANGEL’S DREAM was pulled up by the Jockey near 800 metres mark. On examination, the mare was observed to be sore by the left hind leg. First Aid treatment was given and the mare was sent to the Equine Hospital for further management. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, PRINCE ARIUS was found to be sound.

RACE NO.2(257) –THE SIMPLY GORGEOUS PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres –Runners – 12

At the start, MATRIOSHKA (F.Irani) jumped out awkwardly.

Soon after the start, WIND CRAFT (Prabhu Naidu) shifted-in and went across the entire field on his inside and then took the running of ROCKY BALBOA (Shrikant Kamble) who was steadied. Jockey Prabhu Naidu has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

Jockey Deep Shanker (CUT DIAMOND) reported that his mount ran green during the race.

An objection was lodged by Jockey N.S.Parmar, rider of NATURE BOY (Placed Fourth) against WIND CRAFT (Prabhu Naidu, Placed First). The reason being, in the last furlong, his horse was full of running and there was enough gap on the inside of WIND CRAFT for him to go through, however, WIND CRAFT came in because of which he lost a certain race.

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to overrule the objection.

Due to the interference to NATURE BOY (N.S.Parmar), the gelding while regaining its balance, shifted out and hampered BASIC LIFE (S.P.Ranjane) who in turn went out on to NEW STAR (D.K.Ashish).

After the race, NATURE BOY was found to be sound, but having a bruise on the left hock. BE COOL was found to be sound.

RACE NO.3(258)– THE PALAZZIO PLATE:(About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 7

At the start, PITBULL (S.K.Jadhav, dr.6) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to SO TRUE (B.Nikhil, dr.5).

Near 300 metres, JIMBO (D.K.Ashish) was held up for a few strides due to lack of room.

After the race, DEEP DIVER was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, SO TRUE and PITBULL were found to be sound.

RACE NO.4(259) – THE P.A. D’AVOINE TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 11

At the start, DIVINE SOLITAIRE (P.Trevor) jumped awkwardly inwards.

Near 200 metres, DIVINE SOLITAIRE (P.Trevor) shifted-out and hampered the running of MY FREEDOM Sandeep Jadhav). Jockey P.Trevor has been cautioned.

Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar (TARGETMASTER) reported that his mount ran green during the race.

After the race, SAILOR, MOUNTAIN RULER, BURGUNDY ROSE and MR MORRISON were found to be sound.

RACE NO.5(260) – THE D.W.REID PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 7

UCHESHRAWA (S.G.Prasad) was slow in the strides, losing about 3 lengths at the start.

Soon after the start, THE BIG BULL (S Zervan) was steadied and shifted-in so as to settle, and in the process, went across the heels of JANIS JAY (A Sandesh), clipped and stumbled.

Jockey S G Prasad (UCHESHRAWA) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift-out in the final 100 metres and in the process carried ACHIEVE (N S Parmar) outwards.

After the race, GLORIOUS REWARD was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, POLYNESIA was found to be sound.

RACE NO.6(261) – THE SAHACHARI FOUNDATION CUP: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 6

A Stewards’ Enquiry was initiated. The reason being, prima facie, it appeared that Jockey S.Zervan (APACHE, Placed Second) had not allowed his mount to run on its merits. The Stewards having viewed the video recording of the race and having deliberated at length, decided, under the applicable Rules of Racing, to treat APACHE as a non-starter and to refund all bets on the said horse. As a consequence, the order of placing of the race was revised as under :-

JACK FROST - First; THEORY - Third;

SUNNY SEA - Second; MIDNIGHT DANCER - Fourth

The Stewards after the last race interviewed Jockey S.Zervan and Trainer P.Shroff in the above connection and having heard them and having viewed the video recording of the race, directed the Stipendiary Stewards to issue a Show Cause to Jockey S.Zervan as to why action should not be initiated against him for not allowing the horse APACHE to run on its merits in the above race and to appear before the Stewards after the races on Sunday, 16^th March, 2014.

Jockey S Zervan (APACHE) reported loss of whip near 200 metres.

After the race, SUNNY SEA was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind fetlock. APACHE was found to be sound.

RACE NO.7(262) – THE P.A.D’AVOINE TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 10

Approaching 1200 metres, STAR BUILDER (Hanumant Singh) shifted in, due to which EARTH SENSOR (S.P.Ranjane) shifted in and hampered the running of ANCIENT TREASURE (D.A.Naik). Jockey Hanumant Singh has been cautioned.

Near 700 metres, MINISTER (S.G.Prasad) was tightened for room as PAMUSHANA (Akshay) shifted in. Jockey Akshay has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

Jockey S.G.Prasad (MINISTER) reported the loss of whip near 300 metres. This being the third occasion of Jockey S.G.Prasad losing the whip during the current Mumbai meeting, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

Near 200 metres, PAMUSHANA (Akshay) was held up for a run while racing behind ANCIENT TREASURE (D.A.Naik).

The Sr.V.O. reported that at the request of Trainer M.Narredu, SUPERTRAMP was scoped after the race at the Equine Hospital and reported to be having EIPH (Grade III). The gelding is not to race for the stipulated period of four weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, STAR BUILDER was found to be sound.

RACE NO.8(263) – THE SIMPLE LOGIC PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 11

HABIBIAN (S.Zervan, dr.9) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to RAJSAMMAN (Sandeep Jadhav, dr.8) who in turn tightened AWESOME SMILE (I.Pasha, dr.7).

Near 800 metres, MOUNTAIN MYNAH (Hanumant Singh) lost position as ICE SKATER (S.P.Ranjane) shifted-in. Jockey S.P.Ranjane has been cautioned.

RAJSAMMAN (Sandeep Jadhav) lugged out throughout the race. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

HABIBIAN (S.Zervan) lugged-in in the straight and carried RAJSAMMAN (Sandeep Jadhav) inwards, who went across BLUE BAY (P.Trevor). Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

After the race, RAJSAMMAN was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, RAJSAMMAN, HABIBIAN and AWESOME SMILE were found to be sound.

RACE NO.9(264) – THE SIMPLY GORGEOUS PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 12

In the process of stalling, the bridle of YARDSTICK came off and the same was replaced. Thereafter, in the process of being stalled, the mare kicked the front gate. YARDSTICK was examined by the Club’s V.O who certified her fit to race.

LA TRAVIATA (F.Irani) lost about 2 lengths at the start.

After the race, GRAN AMIGO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, MOUNTAIN SONG and BLAZING FIRE (examined on 14/03/2014) were found to be sore by the right fore leg. Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, ICE SKATES, YARDSTICK, OASIS LIGHT and LA TRAVIATA (examined on 14/03/2014) were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 1^st, 2^nd, 6^th, 7^th and 8^th race, viz. FEAST OF LOVE, WIND CRAFT, JACK FROST, THE OTHER SONG and SONG OF SPARROW, and the special sample of APACHE & MIDNIGHT DANCER (6^th race), RAJSAMMAN (8^th race) and GRAN AMIGO & NEGREDO (9^th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF “RUBENS” IN RACE NO.209 – THE NUCLEUS TROPHY (DIV.I) RUN ON SUNDAY, 16^TH FEBRUARY, 2014 :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 13^th November, 2014 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry. They interviewed Jockey Dashrath Singh as also Trainer Narendra Lagad and having heard them and having viewed the video recording of Race No.209 as also two other races of the horse during the current Mumbai Meeting i.e. Race No.163 and Race No.243, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Dashrath Singh and held him guilty of unsatisfactory riding on RUBENS. The Stewards noted that he was told by the Trainer that RUBENS performs well only when he is in a forward position and he was specifically instructed to make every effort to try and hit the front or to be in 2^nd position. Even conceding that he received slight interference at the start, however, thereafter he did not use the whip or make sufficient effort to sit well up as instructed and on the contrary dropped back further due to which the horse performed poorly. Trainer Narendra Lagad also concurred with the Stewards that Jockey Dashrath Singh should have used the whip and tried to sit well up as instructed. The Stewards noted that Jockey Dashrath Singh was riding a fancied runner and such riding from a Jockey of his calibre was not accepted. However, taking an overall view and keeping in mind Jockey Dashrath Singh’s recent clean record at this centre, the Stewards took a lenient view and decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 30^th March, 2014 to 12^th April, 2014 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).
