RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 6 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 8 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES TO 1200 METRES AND 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
RACE NO.1(136) –THE BLURR PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 11
ALLEZ LA BLEUE was declared to run with bandages on both fore legs but ran without any bandages. Trainer Altamaash A. Ahmed has been fined Rs.1,000/-.
At the start ALLEZ LA BLEUE (App. A. Prakash dr.5) jumped outwards on to OSPREY ARROW (App. A. S. Peter dr.6) and they made contact.
At the start, FIRE FLAME (Aniket Karande, dr.11) jumped inwards and went across KANADARIO (K. Nazil, dr. 10) who was marginally slow to begin and made contact with DILBAR (App. D. R. Shubham, dr. 9).
Soon after the start MAESTRO (App. Gagandeep Mann) shifted in under urgings and went across GOD’S DECREE (App. K. Pranil) causing the latter to be checked. After questioning, App. Gagandeep Mann has been fined Rs.2000/-.
After the race, App D. R. Shubham (DILBAR) reported that the throat lash of the bridle used on his mount unfastened during the race. Trainer H. J. Antia has been fined Rs.2,000/- for faulty Saddling of his charge.
After the race, OUTSTANDING was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, FIRE FLAME and ALLEZ LA BLEUE were trotted and found to be sound. GOD’S DECREE had an abrasion at the left hind pastern and FIRE FLAME had a gum injury.
RACE NO.2(137) – THE PICASSO PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 10
At the start, ISINIT (App. K. Pranil, dr. 7) jumped inwards and made contact with DANCING LANCES (Akshay Gaikwad, dr. 6).
Soon after the start, PLEIADES (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in and bumped SKYSURFER (App. Aniket Karande) thereafter leaned outwards on to WETEROS (P. S. Chouhan) and they made contact. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs. 2,000/-.
Approaching the 600 Metres DANCING LANCES (Akshay Gaikwad) shifted in and went across RELENTLESS PURSUIT (App. A. S. Peter) causing the latter to be checked Jockey Akshay Gakwad has been cautioned.
From the 250 Metres, DANCING LANCES (Akshay Gakwad) was observed to have drifted out and went across ARABIAN STORM (S. A. Amit) and made contact with SKYSURFER (Aniket Karande) forcing it outwards on to PLEIADES (Neeraj Rawal) and thereafter further drifted out and finished the race on the extreme outside. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to show his charge in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting to race.
An enquiry has been initiated into the improved performance of USTAD PEDRO (P. Trevor) and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, SKYSURFER was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.3(138) – THE RED BUTTONS PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 7
At the request of Jockeys P. Trevor and Dashrath Singh the saddle on their respective mounts i.e. VAN DYKE and FENCING were adjusted upon their arrival at the Starting Gates.
At the start, ATHULYA (Nicky Mackay dr.1) jumped outwards on to WESTERN FRONT (David Egan dr.2) causing the latter to be checked. Trainer S. K. Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures.
After the race, RHAPSODY was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.4(139) – THE PRICELESS PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres –Runners- 14
After being stalled, GRACIDA (Santosh G.) tried to hook one its hind legs on the side platform. The gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified him fit to race.
Thereafter, ONE FOR THE GLORY (P. Trevor) and GREY FALCON (P. S. Kaviraj) sat on their haunches. Both the horses were taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified them fit to race. However, GREY FALCON refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts, as such, the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Since GREY FALCON had behaved in a similar manner in its previous start, Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures and show the gelding in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.
At the start, MULTIBAGGER (Nicky Mackay, dr.9) jumped outwards and went across GRACIDA (App. Santosh G. dr.10) and BIG BEN (App. K. Nazil dr.11) who were marginally slow to begin.
Passing the 1000 Metres, CRISTO BOSS (Amyn Merchant) shifted out and at the same time ONE FOR THE GLORY (P. Trevor) shifted in thereby tightening EX’S AND OH’S (A. Sandesh) causing the latter to be checked. After questioning, Jockeys Amyn Merchant and P. Trevor have been cautioned.
Passing the 600 Metres, EX’S AND OH’S (A. Sandesh) shifted in thereby tightening DANCING JADE (App. Aniket Karande) along the rails. Jockey A. Sandesh has been cautioned.
Passing the 250 Metres, SWEEPING MOVE (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in and went across ONE FOR THE GLORY (P. Trevor) who had to be steadied. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned.
Passing the 250 Metres, ÉCLAIR (David Egan) shifted in thereby tightening EX’S AND OH’S (A. Sandesh) who had to be steadied and inconvenienced MULTIBAGGER (Nicky Mackay). Jockey David Egan has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
Passing the 200 Metres, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (SWEEPING MOVE) was observed to have used the whip in an improper manner. After questioning, Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
After the race, ONE FOR THE GLORY, SCOTLAND and GREY FALCON were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.5(140) – THE D.P.C.KAPADIA TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres –Runners- 11
LAMBRETTA (App. A. Prakash) jumped out slow losing about 5 lengths at the start. Trainer Karthik Ganapathy has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Soon after the start, OUI SAVAGE (P. Trevor) shifted out and carried SACHERTORTE (C. S. Jodha) and BAKU (Neeraj Rawal) outwards. Thereafter, BAKU (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in and went across SACHERTORTE (C. S. Jodha) who had to be checked, at the same time SPEED AIR (P. S. Chouhan) shifted in and jostled with BAKU. Jockeys P. Trevor and Neeraj Rawal have been cautioned.
Passing the 1100 Metres, BAKU (Neeraj rawal) shifted in at the same time BLACK CHERRY (J. Chinoy) shifted out due to which SACHERTORTE (C. S. Jodha) racing on its haunches was observed to have clipped the former and stumbled.
In the straight MOUNT MORIAH (David Egan) was observed to have maintained an erratic course. After the race, Jockey David Egan reported that his mount was erratic in the straight and shied outwards in the final stages of the race. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures.
After the race, Trainer Asad Siddiqui lodged a verbal complaint stating that he was not satisfied with the riding of Jockey Neeraj Rawal (BAKU) the Stipendiary Stewards will be looking into this and a report will be submitted.
After the race, BLACK CHERRY, MOUNT MORIAH, EGALITE and BAKU (examined on 14/02/2020) were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.6(141) – THE SIR CHARLES FORBES TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 11
At the request of Jockey J. Chinoy, his mount LA PEREGRINA was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified the filly fit to race.
At the start RAMBLER (P. S. Chouhan dr.6) jumped outwards and went across THEA’S CASTLE (Dashrath Singh dr.7).
Soon after the start, LA PEREGRINA (J. Chinoy) was observed to have stumbled and had to be steadied.
Passing the 450 metres, STAR SINCERITY (App. A. S. Peter) shifted out at the same time WILLOWS (Shrikant Kamble) shifted in due to which SMOKIN’ HOT (P. Trevor), racing between the two had to be checked. After the race, Jockey Shrikant Kamble reported that his mount was running green and was also inclined inwards.
After the race, LA PEREGRINA was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.7(142)–THE BLURR PLATE (DIV.I):(About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 12
At the request of Jockey Santosh G., his mount MOMENT OF MADNESS was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified the filly fit to race.
HOLLYWOOD PARK (App. P. Shinde) jumped out slow losing about 5 lengths at the start. Trainer Vinesh has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the start, SALTBAE (App. Gagandeep Mann, dr. 7) jumped inwards and went across PSYCHIC FIRE (K. Nazil, dr. 6) who was marginally slow to begin.
Turning for home, PSYCHIC FIRE (K. Nazil) leaned outwards onto VA BENE (App. A. Prakash) and was steadied.
After the race, ABRAXAS, C’EST L’AMOUR, MOMENT OF MADNESS and PSYCHIC FIRE were trotted and found to be sound.

RE : SHOW CAUSED ISSUED TO JOCKEY AKSHAY GAIKWAD - ENQUIRY INTO THE LOSS OF WHIP AS ALSO THE FALL OF JOCKEY AKSHAY GAIKWAD ON “ANGELS HARMONY” IN RACE NO.17 – THE BEJAN BARUCHA PLATE (DIV.I) RUN AT PUNE ON 24TH NOVEMBER, 2019 :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 13th February, 2020 interviewed Jockey Akshay Gaikwad and his Spokesman, Mr.P.S.Chouhan, in the above connection.
The Stewards of the Club considered all papers, documents and proceedings including Jockey Akshay Gaikwad’s reply to the Show Cause and having heard him/his Spokesman and having viewed the video recording of all angles of the race in normal as well as slow motion, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him. The Stewards came to the conclusion that his riding capabilities were not up to the standard and he was a danger to himself as well as the other horses/riders in the race. Therefore, the Stewards decided to refer him back to the Riding Instructor to improve his riding skills. Jockey Akshay Gaikwad was told that he is not allowed to accept any rides until the Riding Instructor gives a clearance after which the Stipendiary Stewards will gauge his riding capabilities in mock races, before taking a final call.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 13th February, 2020 considered Mercy Petition dated 20th January, 2020 from Mr.Vishal N.Bunde in the above connection.
The Stewards of the Club considered all papers, documents and proceedings and having heard Mr.Vishal N.Bunde and having deliberated the matter, decided to reject his Mercy Petition.
