RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 5 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 9 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 11 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer Sanjay Kolse, permission was granted to Trainer Rehanullah Khan to saddle his charge RAMBUTAN in the 7th race, at his (Trainer Sanjay Kolse’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(58) – THE SNOW PLATE : (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 9
At the start, NEON LIGHT (Kavraj Singh) jumped out awkwardly.
At the start SHOWERS OF HEAVEN (Shrikant Kamble, dr.8) jumped out awkwardly towards the inside and went on to DONATA (R.Shelar, dr.7).
NEON LIGHT (Kavraj Singh) lugged-out in the straight. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
Passing 800 metres TAJ E SHAHI (Amyn Merchant) shifted out due to lack of room and carried ANCIENT ODYESSY (A.Sandesh) outwards.
Approaching 600 metres PUNE WARRIORS (Sandeep Jadhav) was inconvenienced as SHOWERS OF HEAVEN (Shrikant Kamble) leaned inwards.
STORM LIGHTNING (S.Sunil) hung-in in the final stages of the race. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, PISTOL PACKIN MAMA was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, DONATA, NEON LIGHT and STORM LIGHTNING were found to be sound.
RACE NO.2(59) – THE AZIZ H.AHMEDBHOY TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 4
Near 100 metres MOUNTAIN FORCE (S.K.Jadhav) put in an awkward stride and was unbalanced.
After the race, GEROME and MOUNTAIN FORCE were found to be sound.
RACE NO.3(60) – THE GUEST CONNECTIONS PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners – 6
At the request of Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed, SEEKING MAGIC was examined at 1215 hours on 10/12/2013 and found to have a deep cut injury at the right hind pastern with swelling at the area, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
At the request of Trainer Narendra Lagad, AUGUSTYNA was examined at 1030 hours on 12/12/2013 and found to have a cut injury at the left hock with swelling on the left hock and left hind cannon area and was sore by the left hind leg. As such, AUGUSTYNA was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
Jockey Neeraj Rawal (SKY LANTERN) reported the loss of whip near 200 metres. This being the second occasion of loss of whip, Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs.1,000/-.
After the race, SHISHYA and ICE BEAUTY were found to be sound.
RACE NO.4(61) – THE ALMA MATER PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 5
After the race, WORD OF HONOUR was found to be sound.
RACE NO.5(62) – THE RAO SAHEB D.K.PARKAR TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 15
TWILIGHT (A.Sandesh) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer M.K.Jadhav has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the start, FONTANELLE (Malcolm Kharadi, dr. 6) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to QUICK FIRE (J.Fortune, dr.7). INVINCIBLE (Kavraj Singh, dr.8) jumped awkwardly outwards and inconvenienced STAYING ALIVE (Dharmendar, dr.9), who in turn went on to ICE AFFAIR (Hanumant Singh, dr.10) who had also jumped out awkwardly.
QUICK FIRE (J.Fortune) was ridden in check in the final 100 metres due to lack of room.
At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards Enquiry was held in this race. The reason being, at about 800 metres INVINCIBLE (Kavraj Singh, Placed Second) shifted in and went on to QUICK FIRE (J.Fortune) who in turn shifted in and tightened FONTANELLE (Malcolm Kharadi, Placed Third) causing both horses to get unbalanced and to be checked by their respective riders, losing position in the process and dropping back.
After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to maintain the order of placing as declared by the Judge.
In the above connection, Jockey Kavraj Singh was asked to meet the Stewards for careless riding on his mount INVINCIBLE. Consideration of the matter was deferred.
After the race, TWILIGHT was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind cannon. SUPREME MINSTREL and QUICK FIRE were found to be sound.
RACE NO.6(63) – THE SIACHEN PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 9
After the race, MOON RAKER and ICE COOL were found to be sound.
RACE NO.7(64) – THE AU PANACHE PLATE : (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 15
At the start, KHAIRIAN (D.A.Naik, dr. 4) and MATRIOSHKA (S.Sunil, dr.5) made contact with each other. SHEER ROMANCE (Dashrath Singh) jumped out awkwardly.
At the start SHERLOCK HOLMES (A.Sandesh, dr.2) began awkwardly and while regaining balance shifted out and caused SAMAY BALWAN (N.S.Parmar, dr. 3) to shift out, who took the running of KHAIRIAN (D.A.Naik, dr. 4) who clipped the hind heels of SAMAY BALWAN, stumbled and fell, dislodging its Rider. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated in the matter.
The Club’s V.O. reported that KHAIRIAN fell about 20 metres from the starting gate. On examination, the gelding was found to be sore by the right fore leg. First Aid treatment was given and the gelding was sent to the Equine Hospital by Horse Ambulance for further management. Subsequently, the Equine Hospital reported that the gelding had suffered fracture of the right shoulder (Humerus) bone. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
Near 1000 metres, STOLEN RELIC (T.Mahesh) was tightened while racing on the inside of SHERLOCK HOLMES (A.Sandesh) and lost position.
Passing 1000 metres, SOMBRERO (App.S.Mosin) shifted in causing a chain reaction wherein DREAM WEAVER (Altaf Sayyed) went on to NICANOR (Amyn Merchant) who went on to SAMAY BALWAN (N.S.Parmar) who in turn shifted in and caused interference to STOLEN RELIC (T.Mahesh). The matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit. Consideration of the matter was deferred.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2nd, 3rd and 7th race viz. ZARAAVAR, RICOCHET and SHEER ROMANCE, and the special sample of QUICK FIRE (5TH race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : POSITIVE REPORT IN RESPECT OF b g “MONTREAL” (WINNER) IN RACE NO.18 – THE MUNICIPAL COMMISSIONER’S TROPHY RUN ON 24TH NOVEMBER, 2013 :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 12th December, 2013 interviewed Tr.C.D.Katrak regarding the positive report dated 5th December, 2013 from Racing Laboratory, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, in respect of the sample of urine taken from his charge MONTREAL (Winner) in Race No.18 – The Municipal Commissioner’s Trophy run on 24th November, 2013 which read as under :-
“THE ANALYSIS HAS SHOWN THE PRESENCE OF “SALBUTAMOL”
At this meeting, Trainer C.D.Katrak was handed over a copy of the above report and was requested to inform the Sr. Veterinary Officer of the Club, in writing, within five days of opening the envelope that identifies the sample, whether he wishes to sent the split sample to H.F.L. Sports Science Laboratory, New Market, UK, or L C H, France, for Confirmatory analysis and also the name of the witnessing analyst, if any, failing which the Stewards shall treat the report of the primary laboratory as conclusive.
Tr.C.D.Katrak was asked to conduct his own enquiries and to also attend the enquiry to be held by the Stipendiary Stewards and the Sr.V.O. of the Club, as and when he would be required to.
