RACE DAY REPORTS
FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED ABOUT 3 METRES WIDE FROM 1400 METRES TILL THE WINNING POST. FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED ABOUT 3 METRES WIDE FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE TILL 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer Ivor Fernandes, permission was granted to Trainer Himmat Singh to saddle his charge THUNDER STAR in the 2nd race, at his (Trainer Ivor Fernandes’) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Hosidar Daji, permission was granted to Trainer Nina Lalvani to saddle his charges EDGE OF GLORY, SET TO FLY, SULTAN OF SWING and HEAVENS KEY in the 3rd, 4th, 8th and 9th race respective, at his (Trainer Hosidar Daji’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(203) – THE SIR SULTAN CHINOY TROPHY : (About) 2400 Metres – 3 Runners
Soon on entering the straight, the whip of Jockey C.S.Jodha (ANTONIUS MAXIMUS) hit on the face of SWIFT MEMORIES (Y.S.Srinath). Jockey C.S.Jodha has been cautioned.
Passing the 200 meters FALCO NERO (A.Sandesh) shifted in and inconvenienced SWIFT MEMORIES (Y.S.Srinath). Jockey A. Sandesh has been cautioned.
After the race, ANTONIUS MAXIMUS was found to be sound.
RACE NO.2(204) – THE ROEDL & PARTNER TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – 12 Runners
TUSCANIA (App.S.Mosin) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Mansoor Shah has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
THUNDER STAR (R.Shelar) lost about 2 lengths at the start.
Near 1000 metres, PUNE WARRIORS (App.Sandeep Jadhav) was inconvenienced as WINDS OF CHANGE (S.Sunil) shifted in. Jockey S.Sunil has been cautioned.
Passing 200 metres, ARMEL (S.P.Ranjane) was inconvenienced as BY THE WAY (Ishwar Pardeshi) shifted in. Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi has been cautioned.
TO THE MOON (Shrikant Kamble), SONG OF AFRICA (Kavraj Singh) & VAILE ROUGE (J.Chinoy) lugged-in in the straight. Trainers Narendra Lagad, Magansingh P.Jodha & Sangramsinh N.Joshi have been asked to take remedial measures with their respective charges, before next accepting to race them.
After the race, PUNE WARRIORS was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind pastern. TO THE MOON was found to be sound.
RACE NO.3(205) – THE AQUILO PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – 9 Runners
Jockey S.Sunil (WINDS OF CHANGE) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
After the race, TALK OF THE TOWN was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
The Sr.V.O. reported that SEVEN SEAS and EDGE OF GLORY were examined at the stable in the morning on 13/10/2013 and found to be sound.
RACE NO.4(206) – THE INDICTMENT TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – 7 Runners
Soon after the start SPIRIT OF MERCY (T.S.Jodha, dr.3) was tightened and lost position while racing between SET TO FLY (P.Kamlesh, dr.4) and BLUE ACE (Ishwar Pardeshi, dr.2).
In final stages of the race, BLUE ACE (Ishwar Pardeshi) lugged-in, due to which CENT PER CENT (P.Trevor) shied away and leaned inwards and caused interference to NEATH (N.S.Parmar). Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race gelding.
After the race, SET TO FLY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, SET TO FLY was found to be sound, but having an abrasion at both the hind fetlocks. CENT PER CENT and NATIONAL GLORY (examined on 13/10/2013) were found to be sound.
RACE NO.5(207) – THE AQUILO PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 9 Runners
At the start BRAVE FIGHTER (Vikram Walkar) jumped out awkwardly.
Jockey I.Pasha (STAR ZONE) has been cautioned for failing to ride out his mount to its complete advantage in the straight.
After the race, DANCING JENNY was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind fetlock and DIAMONDZIP had a cut injury at the right hind pastern. BE COOL was found to be sound.
RACE NO.6(208) – THE HYATT REGENCY, PUNE TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – 10 Runners
At the start, ZORAAVAR (A.Sandesh) shifted in and went across SWASHBUCKLER (P.Trevor). Jockey A. Sandesh has been cautioned.
Soon after the start, FONTAINEBLEAU (N.S.Parmar) was tightened and steadied and in the process clipped the hind heels of SWASHBUCKLER (P.Trevor) and stumbled.
Near 1400 meters ONE WISH (P.S.Chouhan) was tightened while racing between AIGAION (Suraj Narredu) and MOON SHADOW (App.B.Nikhil) and steadied and lost position.
After the race, STARRING was found to be sore by the left fore leg and had also lost its left hind shoe. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, SWASHBUCKLER was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the left hind fetlock. AMARA, ONE WISH, DIVINE INSPIRATION, SU O MOTO and FONTAINEBLEAU were found to be sound.
RACE NO.7(209) – THE ROEDL & PARTNER TROPHY(DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 13 Runners
At the start, NEON LIGHT (Kavraj Singh) was tightened as FLYING KISS (Bhanu Pratap Singh) shifted in. Jockey Bhanu Pratap Singh has been cautioned.
Soon after the start, SPEED BABY (Ishwar Pardeshi) shifted in, due to which BALINGA (App.Prasad) shied away and shifted inwards and hampered the running of RIO DEL RAY (Vikram Jodha). Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi has been cautioned.
Near 1000 meters, SPEED BABY (Ishwar Pardeshi) shifted in and carried BALINGA (App.Prasad) inwards, who caused interference to ARGYLE PINK (A.Sandesh), who in turn went on to FLYING KISS (Bhanu Pratap Singh). Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi has been fined Rs.1,000/-.
Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi (SPEED BABY) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
Jockey Vijay R.Kadam (MT TIANMEN) reported that he lost his left stirrup at the start which he was able to regain after travelling 100 metres.
Trainer H.J.Antia was questioned regarding the comparative performance of SPEED BABY which the filly won as compared to her previous run in Race No 138. Trainer H.J.Antia stated that in the previous run i.e. Race No 138 his filly had met with interference at the start wherein she was unbalanced and Jockey S.P.Ranjane had informed him after the race that she did not respond well after the interference. The Trainer further stated that the filly had run a suggestive race prior to Race No 138 in Race No 53 where she had finished a close 5th and was about 5 lengths from the winner and he felt the only reason she did not perform well in her previous outing was because of the interference. He added that SPEED BABY was available at longer odds and considering her run in this Race No 53, he had given a chance for place. He also informed that in this race he had used Rubber bit which may have also suited her. Considering her poor performance in her previous race, he had also given her about a one month time to race again. The explanation was noted.
After the race, JENS SECRET was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind pastern and NEON LIGHT had a cut injury at the right hind pastern. MIDNIGHT LADY, PRIZE FIGHTER, SPEED BABY and BALINGA (examined on 13/10/2013) were found to be sound.
RACE NO.8(210) – THE N.K.PUDUMJEE TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – 15 Runners
Passing 800 meters, SULTAN OF SWING (J.Pradeep) shifted in and inconvenienced BEYOND HORIZONS (N.S.Parmar). Jockey J.Pradeep has been cautioned.
After the race, EMBER LADY was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.9(211) – THE LUFTHANSA-SENATOR TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – 13 Runners
SPLENDID LIGHT (Vikram Jodha) was restless in the stall. Trainer Karthik G has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Jockey S.Sunil (DHISHKYAON, DR.13) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for shifting in before the red marker and in the process went across the field on his inside.
Near 600 metres, SYDNEY (Suraj Narredu) scrapped the rails.
Jockey P.S.Chouhan (RUN LIKE THE WIND) reported that his mount lugged in during the race. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.
After the race, RUN LIKE THE WIND and MOON RAKER were found to be sound. HEAVENS KEY had a gum injury.

RE: APPEAL AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS IN RESPECT OF (1) SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE W.E.F. 12/10/2013 TO 13/10/2013 FOR HAVING BEEN FOUND GUILTY OF USING HIS WHIP IN EXCESS OF THE PRESCRIBED LIMIT ON HIS MOUNT ‘BOMBARDIER’ IN RACE NO 172 – THE S.A.POONAWALLA MULTI-MILLION (GR.2) RUN ON 22ND SEPTEMBER, 2013 AND (2) WITHDRAWAL OF HIS WHIP FOR HAVING FOUND IN BREACH OF THE NORMS FOR USE OF THE WHIP ON HIS MOUNT ‘SUPREME STAR’ IN RACE NO 180 – THE NIRMAL RUIA MILLION RUN ON 28TH SEPTEMBER, 2013 - JOCKEY D.K. ASHISH :
The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on Monday, 7th October, 2013 considered two appeals from Jockey D.K.Ashish in the above connection. The Board of Appeal, having studied all documents and papers that were submitted, including the Grounds of Appeal and having considered the submissions made by Jockey D.K.Ashish and having viewed the video recording of the races in question, deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds, decided to reject both the appeals and forfeit the deposits. Accordingly, the decision of the Stewards of the Club stands.
Further, the Board of Appeal felt that the punishment meted out to Jockey D.K.Ashish by the Stewards of the Club needs to be enhanced especially since he has repeated the offence despite the fact that when he was punishment for his third offence, the Chairman had informed him that should he commit another whipping offence during the current Pune Meeting 2013, he shall be deprived of the use of the whip in races for the minimum of 10 days. The Board therefore asked Jockey D.K.Ashish to show cause as to why the punishment imposed on him by the Stewards should not be enhanced further by the Board.
The Chairman of the Board of Appeal explained to Jockey D.K.Ashish the abovementioned decision of the Board of Appeal in detail and gave him time to come before the Board of Appeal with his submissions / response to the show cause. However, Jockey D.K.Ashish indicated that he did not require any further time and he would like to reply to the show cause immediately.
When Jockey D.K.Ashish was ready with his response, he was called and his submissions were heard by the Board of Appeal. The Board having deliberated on the matter, took a lenient view, and having applied their minds decided not to enhance his punishment, but to severely warn him to be careful in the future.

RE : RACE NO.201 – THE OCTOBER HANDICAP RUN ON 6TH OCTOBER, 2013 – JOCKEY P.KAMLESH, RIDER OF “RECKLESS” – REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR CARELESS RIDING :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 12th October, 2013 interviewed Jockey P.Kamlesh in the above connection and having heard him and having viewed the video recording of Race No.201 as also the previous race of the filly i.e. Race No.136, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of careless riding on his mount RECKLESS. The Stewards noted that rounding the final bend RECKLESS first shifted in and jostled with SILSILA (R.Vaibhav) who in turn tightened BEFOREMEMORYFADES (Neeraj Rawal) and thereafter again shifted in twice in the straight and caused interference to BEFOREMEMORYFADES and Jockey P.Kamlesh made no apparent effort to correct his mount. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 17th November, 2013 to 24th November, 2013 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).

RE : RACE NO.161 – THE INGLENOOK PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON 21AT SEPTEMBER, 2013 – JOCKEY S.ZERVAN, RIDER OF “MIDNIGHT WIND” – REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR CARELESS RIDING:
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 12th October, 2013 interviewed Jockey S.Zervan in the above connection and having heard him and having viewed the video recording of Race No.161 as also the previous two races of the horse i.e. Race No.20 and Race No.43, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of careless riding on his mount MIDNIGHT WIND. The Stewards noted that near the 1000 metres
Jockey S.Zervan allowed his mount to shift in without making any effort to correct the horse and caused severe interference to OCEAN OF FAITH (App.Sandeep Jadhav). Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license for 17th November, 2013 (permitted to ride work/mock race).

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF “MIDNIGHT WIND” IN RACE NO.161 – THE INGLENOOK PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON SATURDAY, 21ST SEPTEMBER, 2013 :
The Stewards at their meeting held on 21st September, 2013 had directed the Stipendiary Stewards to conduct an enquiry into the poor performance of MIDNIGHT WIND in Race No.161 and to submit a report.
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 12th October, 2013 having considered a report from the Sr.Veterinary Officer that MIDNIGHT WIND was scoped after the races at the Club’s Equine Hospital and was found to have suffered EIPH Grade-III and in view of the same decided to close the matter.
