RACE DAY REPORTS

(THERE WERE NO FALSE RAILS)

 

On a request from Trainer Shyam S.Habbu, permission was granted to Trainer P.Shroff to saddle his charge GRAND DESIGN in the 1st race, at his (Trainer Shyam S.Habbu‘s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(39)  – THE RUBEN STAR PLATE : (About) 1800 Metres – 4 Runners

 

LIVING THE DREAM (A.M.Tograllu)  was slowly out, losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

After the race, LIVING THE DREAM was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(40) – THE DEEPAK RAUT GOLD TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – 8 Runners

 

JEWELLED (Imran Chisty) planted and was assisted out of the gate. Since the filly was slowly out in her last run at Mumbai, Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock race, before next accepting to race.

 

ELABORATOR (V.Phadke) trailed the field and hung outwards while negotiating the bend and in the straight. Trainer Ivor Fernandes has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, ELABORATOR, WINDS OF CHANGE and JEWELLED were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(41) – THE ZEPHYR BAY PLATE : (About) 1400 Metres – 8 Runners

 

PUMBA (P.Trevor) played up in the stall. The gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s V.O. and found to have suffered bleeding cut injury on the left hind leg just below the stifle joint. As such PUMBA was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds, before coming under the Starter’s Order.  Trainer Nina M.Lalvani has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.   Further, the Trainer has to obtain a fitness certificate for this horse from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race him.

Jockey Aqeed Waheed (CEASARINA) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to drift outwards in the straight and not riding out his mount to complete advantage.

 

After the race, MONEY FLASH was found to be sore by the right fore leg.  Also, the mare had an abrasion at the left hind fetlock.  The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race,  CEASARINA and PRINCE ARIUS were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(42) – THE CABRIOLET PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – 7 Runners

 

ENLIGHTENMENT (Imran Chisty) lost about 2 lengths at the start.

 

At the start, CHEMIN DE FER (Dashrath Singh) shifted out on to MARAUDER (Vikram Jodha) who in turn went on to STROMBOLI (P.Trevor).

Jockey A.Sandesh (INCOGNITO) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight. Trainer M.K.Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Trainer P.Shroff complained that Jockey P.Trevor (STROMBOLI) had not followed his instructions in the early part of the race which were to go to the front or follow AGNI BAAN (P.Kamlesh) if he was unable to go to the front. An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of the filly and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, STROMBOLI was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(43) – THE AL DENTE PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 11 Runners

 

On arrival at the start, MOON SHADOW (P.Kamlesh) was examined by the Club’s V.O. and found to be sore by the left fore leg. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds, before coming under the Starter’s Order. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, WIND OF THE HILLS (Amyn Merchant) fly jumped.

 

Soon after the start, MATILDA (R.K.Mahesh, dr.11) shifted in and went across MCQUEEN (A.Ashhad Asbar, dr.10) who was checked. Jockey R.K.Mahesh has been fined Rs.3000/-.

 

Near 200 metres, SERENA (B.Prakash) shifted in as the Jockey used his whip once and went on to CROWNED PRINCESS (Dashrath Singh). Jockey B.Prakash reported that his mount ran green during the race.

 

Near 200 metres, POUND FOOLISH (A.Sandesh) was steadied and ridden in check for a few strides in anticipation as MCQUEEN (A.Ashhad Asbar) shifted in.

 

Jockey R.K.Mahesh (MATILDA) has been cautioned for exulting before passing the Post.

 

Trainer Dallas Todywalla was questioned with regard to the comparative performance of his charge SERENA as compared to her earlier run in Race no 19. Trainer Todywalla explained that in the previous race the filly was drawn-1 in a field of 16 horses and she had jumped out awkwardly and lost ground in a 1000 metres race and he had lost the race at the start. Considering that the filly had jumped awkwardly and was slow in the strides, the explanation has been noted.

 

After the race, SERENA and TUDOR REGENT were found to be sound. SERENA had wolf tooth on either side.

 

RACE NO.6(44) – THE EVE CHAMPION TROPHY (GR.3): (About) 2000 Metres – 4 Runners

 

After the race, BLING was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind coronet.

 

RACE NO.7(45) – THE DEEPAK RAUT GOLD TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – 9 Runners

 

At the start, HEARTHROB (Dashrath Singh) jumped out awkwardly.

 

In the Parade Ring, Jockey S.Shinde, the declared Rider for SHADOWS OF TIME, informed that the Saddle on his mount was not his and the same was changed. After enquiring, Trainer C.D. Katrak has been fined Rs.3,000/- for applying an incorrect saddle on his charge. 

 

Jockey Altaf Sayyed (WIND CHIME) has been reprimanded for not riding out his mount to complete advantage.

 

CERRO NEGRO (A.Sandesh) hung out in the straight. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, SHADOWS OF TIME and WIND CHIME were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(46) – THE RONIN PLATE: (About) 1800 Metres – 13 Runners

 

BRUNELLO (A.Sandesh) and CAVALRYMAN (Dashrath Singh) shifted ground outwards and inwards respectively under the use of the whip in the straight. Both the Jockeys have been cautioned.

 

WHITE FEATHER (Aqeed Waheed) trailed the field. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to ensure that his charge runs with the field in the future.

 

After the race, GLOWING MIST was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind pastern and cannon. KNIGHT RIDER had an abrasion at the right hind pastern.

 

RACE NO.9(47) – THE  ASPINALLS PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners

 

Near 300 metres, SEEKING GLORY (Imran Chisty) shifted out and tightened DARK KNIGHT (P.Kamlesh) on to SONG OF SPARROW (Amyn Merchant) and a short while later SONG OF SPARROW shifted in and hampered the running of DARK KNIGHT. Jockeys Imran Chisty and Amyn Merchant have been cautioned.

 

After the race, DARK KNIGHT was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.10 (48)– THE AL DENTE  PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – 11 Runners

 

The Sr. VO reported that MASTEROFTHESKY was administered Shockwave Therapy and therefore the colt was withdrawn from the race as 10 clear days had not lapsed since the date of first administration and the matter was reported to the Stewards.

 

The Stewards after the last race interviewed Trainer Dallas Todywalla and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to fine him a sum of Rs.10,000/-  for contravention of the Notice dated 15th November, 2005 regarding treatment of horses with Corporeal Shock Wave Therapy (or) Radial Pulse.

 

Approaching 800 metres, SMALL TREASURE (S.S.Baria) was steadied while racing on the inside of EXPELLIARMUS (S.Sunil). Shortly afterwards, WINGS OF GLORY (P.Kamlesh) was steadied as the gelding raced keen at that stage and shifted out and forced TITLEIST (P.Trevor) outwards.

 

Jockey M.A.Roushan (ALIYANA) was observed to have eased up his mount about 100 metres from the Winning Post, thereby losing 4th Place. The matter was reported to the Stewards.

 

The Stewards after the last race interviewed Jockey M.A.Roushan and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him resolved to suspend his Jockey’s license for 26th August, 2012  for dropping his hands before passing the winning post thereby losing the fourth place. Further, he was severely cautioned for the future. (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

After the race, ALIYANA was found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winners of the 3rd, 6th, 7th and 8th race viz. LAZOR RAZOR, ASTAPI, WINSTON and BRUNELLO, as also that of  MACCHUPICCHU & NATIVE KNIGHT (6th race) and the special sample of TIPPING POINT & CAVALRY MAN (8th race) and MASTEROFTHESKY (10th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
