RE: APPEAL FROM JOCKEY YASH NARREDU AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENCE FROM 10TH AUGUST, 2019 TO 1ST SEPTEMBER, 2019 (BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE) FOR DANGEROUS RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “ASTOUNDING BAY” IN RACE NO.8 – THE JAMSHED DALAL TROPHY RUN ON 26TH JULY, 2019 AT THE PUNE RACE COURSE :

The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 7th August, 2019 considered Appeal dated 31st July, 2019 from Jockey Yash Narredu in the above connection.

The Board of Appeal considered all documents and papers that were submitted including Jockey Yash Narredu’s grounds of appeal and heard the submissions made by him and viewed the video tape recording of the race in question. The Board of Appeal whilst deliberating on the matter at length took into consideration Jockey Yash Narredu’s past  clean record, his good conduct before the Stipendiary Stewards, Stewards of the Club as also the Board of Appeal as also noted that he had voluntarily admitted the mistake and had also shown a serious concern for Apprentice Jockey H.Zeeshan who had a fall in the race. Accordingly, the Board of Appeal decided to confirm the decision of the Stewards of the Club in terming his offence as “dangerous riding”; however, the Board modified the punishment imposed by the Stewards of the Club and decided that his Jockey’s licence would now stand suspended with effect from 10th August, 2019 to 16th August, 2019 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race). The deposit was ordered to be refunded.
