RACE DAY REPORTS

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO APPROXIMATELY 3 METRES WIDE AT 1300 METRES AND CONTINUED THEREAFTER TILL THE WINNING POST. FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 3 METRES WIDE FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE TILL 1000 METRES.

On a request from Trainer Narendra Lagad, permission was granted to Trainer Vinay Lagad to saddle his charges REINSTATE & MAGIC STAR in the 8th race only, at his (Trainer Narendra Lagad’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(53) – THE ZEPHYR BAY PLATE : (About) 1400 Metres – 12 Runners

 

At the request of Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait, JET STREAM was examined at 1000 hours on 10/08/2013 and found to be sore by the left fore leg, as such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

WINDS OF LUCK (App.Sandeep Jadhav) planted and lost about 7 lengths at the start. Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

App.Prasad (SPEED BABY) reported that he lost his left stirrup as his mount fly jumped which he was able to regain soon thereafter.    

 

Trainer M.Narredu, when given an opportunity to explain the poor performance of his charge SYDNEY stated that he was disappointed with the filly’s performance and had no plausible explanation to offer. He added that the filly had worked well with Tongue Strap and therefore he had applied for it. Since the filly was reported to have broken a blood vessel, no action has been initiated.

 

After the race, SYDNEY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, EQUIANO was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind pastern and WIND AND RAIN had a cut injury at the left hind bulb of heel. SYDNEY and MOON RAKER were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(54) – THE CABRIOLET PLATE: (About) 1800 Metres – 5 Runners

 

ONE WISH (A.Ashhad Asbar) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey S.Zervan (HAMLET) has been fined Rs.2,000/- for using his whip with excessive intensity.

 

Jockeys N.S.Parmar (SONEEYO), Dashrath Singh (CYPRESS POINT), A.Ashhad Asbar (ONE WISH) and S.Zervan (HAMLET) as also Trainer P.Shroff were questioned regarding the running of this race and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered, the matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit. 

 

The Stewards noted that the instructions to Jockey N.S.Parmar were to sit off the pace and he rode as per the instructions. Also, SONEEYO had broken a blood vessel. The Stewards interviewed Trainer P.Shroff and Jockey S.Zervan (HAMLET), Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait and Jockey Dashrath Singh (CYPRESS POINT) and Trainer H.J.Antia & Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar (ONE WISH) with regard to the running and riding of their respective horse and having heard all concerned and having viewed the video recording of the race, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey S.Zervan and held him guilty of riding an injudicious race for a Jockey of his calibre. The Stewards noted that he was riding an on money favourite and although he was instructed to sit 2nd/3rd, he allowed the leader to take a long lead and made his move far too late. Trainer P.Shroff also felt that the Jockey had misjudged the race. The Stewards noted that Jockey S.Zervan has been fined/suspended thrice earlier for a similar offence. However, since he had admitted his guilt and apologized for the same, the Stewards took a lenient view in the matter and decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 25th August, 2013 to 31st August, 2013 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

Further, the Stewards were also not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockeys Dashrath Singh (CYPRESS POINT) and A.Ashhad Asbar (ONE WISH) and held them guilty of riding an injudicious race for a Jockey of their calibre. The Stewards noted that although their intention was to track the danger horse i.e. HAMLET, however, when they realized that the leader had taken a long lead, they should have used their judgement and improved their own position. The Stewards further noted that CYPRESS POINT could not have done any better. Therefore, the Stewards decided to only caution them for the future.

 

After the race, SONEEYO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The horse has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, HAMLET was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(55) – THE B.K.LAGAD MEMORIAL GOLD TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – 9 Runners

                                      

Soon after the start, MR MORRISON (D.K.Ashish) was hampered for a run as PANTHERA (B.Sreekanth) shifted inwards. Jockey B.Sreekanth has been cautioned.

 

Approaching 200 metres, SO TRUE (Bhanu Pratap Singh) shifted in due to which QUID PRO QUO (Neeraj Rawal) in turn shifted in on to HOME FACTOR (V.Phadke) who inconvenienced MR MORRISON (D.K.Ashish). Jockey Bhanu Pratap Singh has been cautioned.  

 

Near 100 metres, QUID PRO QUO (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out and inconvenienced SO TRUE (Bhanu Pratap Singh). Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned. 

 

Jockey S.Sameer (CAPRI) has been cautioned for using his whip in an improper manner wherein he used the whip in the forehand position on the shoulder of his mount.

 

After the race, EMPEROR OF FRANCE  was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind cannon, QUID PRO QUO had a cut injury at the right hind pastern and HOME FACTOR had a cut injury at the left hind coronet. SO TRUE and ALBUURZ were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(56) – THE DEEPAK RAUT GOLD TROPHY (DIV.I) : (About) 1000 Metres – 11 Runners

 

YODHA SHAKTI (Vijay R.Kadam) took a fly jump.

 

Soon on entering the straight, AURNIA (J.E.Pereira) was inconvenienced as EARTH TAMER (S.P.Ranjane) shifted in. Jockey S.P.Ranjane has been cautioned.  

 

RASHUN (C.S.Jodha), SUPER BOLT (Akshay) and AURNIA (J.E.Pereira) lugged out in the straight. As such, Trainers Himmat Singh, Mansoor Shah and Sangramsinh N.Joshi have been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race their respective charge.

 

OVERTIME MAGIC (V.Chandrakant) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer S.K.Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, RASHUN, SEEKING MAGIC, SUPER BOLT and EARTH TAMER (examined on 11/08/2013) were found to be sound. SEEKING MAGIC had a cut injury at the right hind coronet, SUPER BOLT had a cut injury at the left hind coronet, AMAYA had an abrasion at both the hind pasterns and AURNIA had a cut injury at the right hind hock.

 

RACE NO.5(57)  – THE ANTONIOS TROPHY  : (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners

 

Soon after the start, EMERGING STAR (D.K.Ashish) was hampered for a run as DANCING PHOENIX (A.Sandesh) lugged outwards. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before ext accepting to race the gelding.

 

TURF LIGHTNING (B.Sreekanth) lugged in during the race and near 700 metres inconvenienced ISHPINGO (Dashrath Singh). Trainer  Karthik G. has been asked to take remedial measures before ext accepting to race the filly.

 

Jockey P.Trevor (ANAHI) reported that his mount lugged out in the straight. Trainer S.S.Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before ext accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, EMERGING STAR was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind pastern and SAINTS N SINNERS had a cut injury at the left hind bulb of heel and pastern. SILVER BIRCH and SCARLET PIMPERNEL were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(58) – THE EVE CHAMPION TROPHY (GR.3): (About) 2000 Metres – 8 Runners

 

MASTER SHIFU (Imran Chisty) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, MONET (S.Zervan) was tightened and lost position due to a tightly packed field.  

 

MAPLE STAR (B.Sreekanth) lugged out in the straight. Trainer Karthik G. has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, MONET was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(59) – THE DEEPAK RAUT GOLD TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 11 Runners

 

FOINAVEN (P.Trevor) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Near 800 metres, EXPRESS (Dashrath Singh) was inconvenienced as CURIOSITY (S.Sunil) shifted in, due to PRECIOUS OPINION (T.S.Jodha) also shifted inwards.

 

Near 100 metres, CURIOSITY (S.Sunil) was steadied when tightened for room as ARABIAN QUEEN (V.Chandrakant) shifted inwards. 

 

PRETTY HOT (A.Sandesh) lugged out in the straight. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures before ext accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, FONTAINEBLEAU was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind coronet. ARABIAN QUEEN, PRETTY HOT, CURIOSITY (examined on 11/08/2013) and PRECIOUS OPINION (examined on 11/08/2013) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(60) – THE PIMPERNEL TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – 11 Runners

 

GRAND DUKE (A.Sandesh) lost 2 lengths at the start.

 

At the start, SKY LANTERN (R.Shelar) jumped awkwardly.

 

Near 300 metres, Jockey S.Zervan (AMISTAD) lost his right rein near 200 metres which he regained shortly and in the process his mount ducked out.

 

After the race, ZANTHOS was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Also, the gelding had an abrasion at the left hind bulb of heel. The gelding is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race,  GRAND DUKE and BALINGA were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of  the 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th race, viz.  BURN, ROSWALD, AN ACQUIRED TASTE and FONTAINEBLEAU,   as also that of MAPLE STAR & NATIVE KNIGHT (6th race) and the special sample of SYDNEY (1st race), HAMLET (2nd race), PRETTY HOT (7th race) and ZANTHOS (8th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
