RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED AT THE ORIGINAL POINT

 

On a request from Trainer Shyam S.Habbu, permission was granted to Trainer P.Shroff to saddle his charges GRAN TURISMO & MONET in the 5th & 6th race respectively, at his (Trainer Shyam S.Habbu’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer S.S.Attaollahi, permission was granted to Trainer P.Shroff to saddle his charge SPEARHEAD in the 6th race, at his (Trainer S.S.Attaollahi’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(242)  – THE FLAREON PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 9  

 

Jockey T.S.Jodha (HOT AS ICE) has been cautioned for shifting in before the Red Marker.

 

Passing 400 metres, PEPE SENIOR (Vikram Walkar) did not get a clear run for a few strides.

 

ARABIAN LORD (P.Trevor) and LAURUS PRIDE (Kavraj Singh) lugged-in in the straight. Trainers Altaf Hussain and Subhag Singh have been asked to take remedial measures with their respective charge before next accepting to race them.

 

After the race, ABSOLUTE STAR was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind coronet. LAURUS PRIDE and RADICAL MACKIE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(243)  – THE  INDIAN NAVY TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 4  

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (EMERALD VALLEY) was observed to have eased up his mount about 150 metres from the Winning Post thereby losing third Place. The matter was reported to the Stewards.

 

The Stewards interviewed Jockey Kavraj Singh and having heard him and viewing the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of riding an overconfident race thereby losing the third place. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 28th March, 2013 to 6th April, 2013 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race). Further, he was warned to be more careful in the future.

 

After the race, EMERALD VALLEY was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(244) – THE JASDANWALLA TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 9

 

UNKNOWN REBEL (Kavraj Singh) lugged-in in the straight and then shifted out in the final stages of the race and carried THIS ONES FOR YOU (App.Nikhil Bhujbal) outwards, who in turn hampered the running of IN THE LIMELIGHT (A.Sandesh). Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

FOXTROT (Ishwar Pardeshi) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Mansoor Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Due to lack of room, THIS ONES FOR YOU (App.Nikhil Bhujbal) did not get a clear run in the straight while racing on the inside of ALIYANA (Hanumant Singh).

 

After the race, UNKNOWN REBEL was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, THIS ONES FOR YOU, FANTASY ROYAL  and MOUNTAIN MYNAH were found to be sound. THIS ONES FOR YOU had a bruise at the left hind pastern and ALIYANA had a cut injury at the left hind coronet.

 

RACE NO.4(245) –THE  MULRAJ GOCULDAS TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 6

 

NEONA (A.Sandesh) fly jumped and landed awkwardly, losing about 2 lengths at the start.  MIGHTY CRUSADER (D.K.Ashish) jumped awkwardly inwards and was steadied.

 

At the start, ISHPINGO (P.Trevor, dr.4) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to SCARLET PIMPERNEL (S.Zervan, dr.3).

 

After the race, WEIZHOU, MIGHTY CRUSADER and NEONA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(246) – THE  Y.M.CHAUDHRY MEMORIAL TROPHY:(About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 8

 

At the request of Trainer Nina M.Lalvani, ARAVALI was examined at 1210 hours on 10/03/2013 and was found to be sore by the left fore leg, as such, the filly was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit to race by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

SET SAIL (Imran Chisty) was reluctant to be stalled, as such its’ Starting Stall Certificate has been revoked.

 

IMPRESSIVE DUDE (C.Rajendra) and THUNDER STAR (R.Shelar) were restless in the stall. Trainers Sangramsinh N.Joshi and Ivor Fernandes have been asked to take remedial measures with their respective charge before next accepting to race them.

 

At the start, GHANGHORR (P.Trevor, dr.8) shifted inwards due to THUNDER STAR (R.Shelar, dr.9) shifting in and went on to GRAN TURISMO (Malcolm Kharadi, dr.7) who in turn went on to AMISTAD (S.Zervan, dr.6) who was also slow to begin. 

After the race, AMISTAD and GRAN TURISMO were found to be sound. IMPRESSIVE DUDE had a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.6(247) – THE  C.N.WADIA GOLD CUP (GR.2): (About) 2400 Metres – Runners - 7

 

At the start, SPEARHEAD (Ryan Marshall, dr.5) was converged upon as BLING (A.Sandesh, dr.4) jumped awkwardly outwards and NADIA (P.Trevor, dr.6) jumped awkwardly inwards.

 

NADIA (P.Trevor) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Neil Darashah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

After the race, NADIA was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the left fore cannon.

 

RACE NO.7(248) – THE  JAYARAMDAS PATEL GOLD TROPHY: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners – 11

 

Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been fined Rs.2,000/- for declaring incorrect shoeing on his charge CHICHARITO. The gelding was declared to have Plain Aluminium, whereas on examination the gelding was found to have Aluminium, Both Hind High Heel.

 

At the start, ACT OF WAR (P.Kamlesh) tried to veer to the outside, losing ground.

 

Jockey Imran Chisty (CHICHARITO) reported that his mount was tightened soon after the start and also stumbled on its own and lost position.

 

Approaching 1600 metres, ECLIPSED (Kavraj Singh) raced keen and as the gelding was being settled, clipped the heels of HEARTHROB (D.K.Ashish) and stumbled, due to which Jockey Kavraj Singh was unbalanced and lost his right stirrup which he regained approaching 1200 metres. 

 

The saddle on ACT OF WAR was observed to have slipped forward during the race due to which the Jockey could not ride out his mount in the straight. As such, Trainer Bezan Chenoy has been fined Rs.10,000/- for faulty saddling of his charge, this being the third occasion of saddle slip during the Racing Season 2012/13.

 

After the race, ACT OF WAR and CHICHARITO were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(249) – THE  RANJIT V.BHAT MEMORIAL GOLD CUP: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 11

 

ACE CHRISTALENI  (D.K.Ashish) was fractious and refused to be stalled. As such, the filly was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order.  COLOURFUL PRINCE (P.Trevor) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to mount. Trainers M.Narredu and Dallas Todywalla have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, GANGNAM STYLE (I.Pasha) jumped out awkwardly.

 

Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar (REMEMBER ME, dr.8) has been fined Rs.3,000/- for shifting in before Red Marker and in the process going across the entire field on his inside.

 

Jockey S.Zervan (AMELIA) has been cautioned for shifting in near 300 metres, in the process carried COLOURFUL PRINCE (P.Trevor) inwards.

 

After the race, GANGNAM STYLE, KALDENO and ACE CHRISTALENI (examined on 11/03/2013) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9(250) – THE  JASDANWALLA TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 10

 

At the start, HILL RANGER (App.Sandeep Jadhav, dr.7) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to ILLUSTRIOUS (C.Rajendra, dr.6) who had also jumped awkwardly. THEOLOGY (P.Kamlesh, dr.8) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to KING JULIEN (A.Sandesh, dr.9). MOUNTAIN SONG (Akshay) and APOCALYPSE (D.K.Ashish) brushed each other.

 

Jockey R.K.Mahesh (MATILDA) has been cautioned for shifting-in in the early part of the race.

 

Near 900 metres, AUTUMN RUSH (S.Sunil) was tightened and lost position due to tightening of the field on his outside as APOCALYPSE (D.K.Ashish) leaned in due to ARCTIC MINSTREL (P.Trevor) shifting in as a result of HILL RANGER (App.Sandeep Jadhav) leaning in at that stage.

 

KING JULIEN (A.Sandesh) was hampered for a run for a few strides near 300 metres while racing behind ILLUSTRIOUS (C.Rajendar) and THEOLOGY (P.Kamlesh), who was inclined to lug outwards.

 

Jockey R.K.Mahesh (MATILDA) reported loss of his whip near 200 metres.

 

After the race, KING JULIEN, APOCALYPSE, AUTUMN RUSH (examined on 11/03/2013) and HILL RANGER (examined on 11/03/2013) were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 1st, 4th, 6th and 9th race, viz. VALOROZKY, ISHPINGO, MONET and AUGUSTUS, as also that of  NADIA and CEASARS STAR (6th race), and the special sample of UNKNOWN REBEL (3rd race), NEONA (4th race), AMISTAD (5th race) and CHICHARITO (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

The saddle on XALIESS (Kavraj Singh) was observed to have slipped back during the race, as such, Trainer Jayantilal K.Gor has been fined Rs.5,000/- (Not Rs.2,000/- as mentioned in Race Day Reports of 27th Feb 13) for faulty saddling of his charge.

RE : RACE NO.218 – THE SERUM INSTITUTE OF INDIA TROPHY RUN ON 24/02/2013 – JOCKEY DANIEL M.GRANT (JIMBO) – REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR USING THE WHIP IN EXCESS OF THE PRESCRIBED LIMIT ON HIS MOUNT (THIRD OFFENCE) :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 10th March, 2013 interviewed Jockey Daniel M.Grant in the above connection and having heard him and viewing the video recording of the race, decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 28th March, 2013 to 31st March, 2013 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race) for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
