 RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 6 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 9 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST.  FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 6 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Nazak Chenoy, permission was granted to Trainer Bezan Chenoy  to saddle her charge EPIPHANY  in the 8th race, at her own (Trainer Nazak Chenoy.s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(85) –THE FIDDLE FADDLE PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 14 

 

LOVELY FAIRY (App.K.Nazil) and SMOKY HAZE (Dashrath Singh) were reluctant to reach the starting point. Trainers C.Rajendra and Adhirajsingh Jodha have been asked to take remedial measures.

 

LOVELY FAIRY (App.K.Nazil) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer C.Rajendra has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, SAMURAI (App.Vishal N.Bunde) and ALSACE (App.H.Zeeshan) were observed to have jostled.

 

Soon after the start, VITESSE (App.N.Nadeem) shifted in and went across ALSACE (App.H.Zeeshan) who had to be steadied. App.N.Nadeem has been cautioned.

 

Passing 500 metres, HUZZAH’S GRACE( Robbie Downey) shifted in thereby tightening SMOKY HAZE(Dashrath Singh) who had to be checked. After questioning, Jockey Robbie Downey has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Passing 300 metres LOVELY FAIRY (App.K.Nazil) shifted in thereby tightening SAMURAI (App.Vishal N.Bunde). Also, it was observed that the whip of App.K Nazil accidently hit App.Vishal N.Bunde due to the close proximity.

 

At around 150 metres, in an effort to make his move,  App.S.A. Amit (FOREVER FREE) shifted out and at the same time LOVELY FAIRY (App.K.Nazil) shifted in, due to which FOREVER FREE  was hampered. On questioning, App.K.Nazil stated that his mount hung-in despite his effort. Trainer C Rajendra has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

After the race, HUZZAH’S GRACE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ALSACE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, VITESSE was observed to have a cut injury at the right girth and an abrasion on the right knee and mandible.  Also, the mare had a gum injury.  OLLY BOY, LOVELY FAIRY, WHOOPSIDAISY and HERMOSA (examined on 11/01/2019) were found to be sound in the trot.

 

RACE NO.2(86) – THE GENERAL OBAIDULLAH KHAN TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners - 4

 

After the race, Jockey Yash Narredu (FRIVOLOUS) reported that his mount jumped out awkwardly.

 

After the race, ZANARA was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(87) – THE RHAPSIDION SNOW PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 14 

 

NATIVE PRINCE (App.Vishal N.Bunde) jumped out slow losing about 6 lengths at the start. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the colt more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, SUPER STRENGTH (App.H.Zeeshan, dr.11) took a fly jump and thereafter lost its footing and shifted in thereby bumping LILIBETH (App.K.Nazil, dr.10) and at the same time, RED FIRE (Sandeep Jadhav, dr.9) shifted out marginally, as a result LILIBETH (App.K.Nazil) was tightened for room and lost ground. Further, due to the awkward jump of SUPER STRENGTH, App.H.Zeeshan was observed to have lost his right stirrup which he regained in the next couple of strides.

 

At the start, JULIANO (N.S.Parmar, dr.7) jumped outwards and made contact with PRIMUM NON NOCERE (Neeraj Rawal, dr.8). After the race Jockey N.S.Parmar reported that his mount had jumped and shifted out  as such he was unable to correct it . He further added that his mount hung out in the straight. Trainer S.S.Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Soon after the start, MACGYVER (P.Trevor, dr.14) shifted in and made contact with DIWALI LIGHTS (App.S.A.Amit, dr.13). Jockey P.Trevor has been cautioned.

 

In the final stages of the race, FABERGE (C.S.Jodha) shifted out under pressure on to PRIMUM NON NOCERE (Neeraj Rawal) who had to be steadied. Jockey C.S.Jodha has been cautioned.  

 

After the race, SUPER STRENGTH was trotted and found to be sound. The gelding had a cut injury at the right fore cannon.

 

RACE NO.4(88) – THE  RHAPSIDION SNOW PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 14 

 

At the request of Jockey S.Sunil, his mount SUPER ICON was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. on arrival at the start and was certified fit to race.

 

VELVET VIBES (App.Gagandeep Mann) jumped out slow losing considerable ground at the start. Trainer Ivor Fernandes has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Passing 500 metres, SKY BEAUTY (Amyn Merchant) weakened and dropped back, due to which, NIGHT WATCH (C.S.Jodha) who racing on its haunches, was forced to check and change course, as a result, carried BISHOP OF DERRY (App.Vishal N.Bunde) outwards.

 

GRAND ARCHITECT (P.Trevor) was observed to have maintained an erratic course in the straight wherein the gelding shifted out at the 400 metres and 200 meters thereby inconveniencing ANNIVERSARY GIRL (Sunny Chinoy) on both occasions. Trainer Bezan Chenoy has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, Jockey S.Jaykumar (ANTARCTICA) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight. Trainer Altamaash A. Ahmed has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, SKY BEAUTY, GRAND ARCHITECT and VELVET VIBES were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(89) – THE  BAHRAIN TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners- 13 

 

COURAGEOUS STAR (Shrikant Kamble) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer M,Narredu has been asked to give the colt more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, CAPONE (N.S.Parmar) was observed to have shifted out and had to be steadied.

 

Passing 250 metres, SUPREME BEING (P.S.Chouhan) shifted out due to which C’EST L’AMOUR (Sunny Chinoy) shied outwards and made contact with CAPONE (N.S.Parmar).

 

RACE NO.6(90) – THE GREATER MUMBAI POLICE CUP: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 12

 

At the start, MASAR (Dashrath Singh, dr.6) jumped inwards on to FINDLERHOF (P.Trevor, dr.5).

 

At the start, WESTERN STYLE ( N.S.Parmar, dr.3) shifted in and brushed the haunches of OUTRAGEOUS (Leigh Roche, dr.2) thereby unbalancing itself, as such, had to be steadied.

 

Passing 250 metres, PONDAROSA (Akshay) shifted in due to which OUTRAGEOUS (Leigh Roche) shied inwards thereby tightening LABURNUM (S.A.Amit) along the rails. After questioning, Jockey Akshay has been cautioned for failing to change his whip hand despite his mount shifting in.  

 

After the race, SO SPLENDID was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ARTICULATE and LABURNUM were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(91) – THE FIDDLE FADDLE PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 14 

 

DRAGONMOSS (A.Sandesh) was observed to have been brought into the paddock without a Tongue Strap. The same was put on before the gelding left the paddock. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been fined Rs.1,000/- for the lapse on his part.

 

Passing 1000 metres, DRAGONMOSS (A.Sandesh),  I AM THEY WAY (B.Nikhil) and HUZZAH’S PHOENIX (Robbie Downey) were observed to have jostled .

 

After the race, Jockey Robbie Downey (HUZZAH’S PHOENIX) reported that his mount was uncomfortable passing the 1000 Metres. The Sr.V.O. was requested to examine the gelding and he reported that HUZZAH’S PHOENIX had returned sore by the right  hind leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.8(92) –THE MAPLE STAR PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 14 

 

SKYSURFER (Dashrath Singh) jumped out slow losing about a length at the start.

 

Soon after the start, RIDGEWOOD STAR (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out and at the same time SPEEDO (App.D.R.Shubham) shifted in and they made contact.

 

Soon after the start, EPIPHANY (App.P.S.Kaviraj) shifted in under urgings and carried ROMANTIC WARRIOR (App.N.Nadeem) inwards and thereafter RIDGEWOOD STAR (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out thereby taking the ground of  EPIPHANY (App.P.S.Kaviraj), forcing the latter outwards causing  it to clip the heels of TENERIFE (P.Trevor) and stumble, due to which CRACKLIN’ ROSIE (App.Niranjan S. Parmar) who was racing on his haunches,  was inconvenienced. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned.

 

Passing 800 metres, due to a tightly packed field, ROMANTIC WARRIOR (App.N.Nadeem) and CHOO MANTAR (Amyn Merchant) were tightened for room and dropped back.

 

After the race, EPIPHANY was observed to have a cut injury at the right knee and TENERIFE had an abrasion at the right hind hock.  TENERIFE, SKYSURFER and ALPINE EXPRESS were found to be sound in the trot.

The urine samples of the winner of the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th race, viz. MYRCELLA, MS BOSS, FINDLERHOF and POCO AZUL, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : APPEAL FROM TRAINER SHAZAAN SHAH IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS TRAINER’S LICENCE FOR 8 RACE DAYS I.E. W.E.F. 24TH DECEMBER, 2018 TO 24THJANUARY, 2019 FOR GROSS MISCONDUCT UNDER RULE 114 (B) OF THE RULES AND FURTHER TO INVOKE THE SUSPENDED SENTENCE OF ONE MONTH IMPOSED ON HIM THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB ON 5TH JANUARY, 2017 AND THEREFORE TO FURTHER SUSPEND HIS LICENCE W.E.F. 25TH JANUARY, 2019 TO 24TH FEBRUARY, 2019 – ENQUIRY INTO THE COMPLAINT LODGED AGAINST HIM BY PERMISSION BOY MR.SARFARAZ :

 

The Board of Appeal at their meeting held on Saturday, 5th January, 2019 considered Appeal dated 24th December, 2018 from Trainer Shazaan Shah in the above connection.

 

The Board of Appeal having studied all documents and papers that were submitted including Trainer Shazaan Shah’s grounds of appeal and heard the submissions made by him and Permission boy Mr. Sarfaraz, deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds, decided, to reject his appeal and forfeit the deposit. Accordingly, the decision of the Stewards of the Club stands. Since Tr.Shazaan Shah was granted a stay on his punishment until his appeal is heard and disposed of, his punishment of 8 race days would come into effect from 7th January 2019 to 10th February 2019 (both days inclusive) for gross misconduct under Rule 114(b) of the Rules of Racing and a further suspended sentence of one month w.e.f 11th February 2019 upto and inclusive of 10th March 2019 (both days inclusive). 

 

Trainer Shazaan Shah was informed that the Board of Appeal strongly felt that he should seek medical help in controlling his temper leading to misbehavior / misconduct on his part.

 

Further, the Board of Appeal also noted with grave concern that during the course of his hearing before the Board of Appeal, he had made certain incorrect, wrong and misleading statements before them. The Board therefore decided to issue a show-cause to him asking as to why his punishment should not be enhanced and his reply should reach the office latest by 1.00 p.m. on Monday, 14th January 2019. The Board would then consider the matter at its meeting, the date, time and place of which would be intimated to him.
