RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 7 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 9 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 11 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 12 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.  FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 5 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 11 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Janardhan, permission was granted to Trainer Vinesh to saddle his charge ORIENTAL SAPPHIRE in the  4th race, at his (Trainer Janardhan’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(126)  – THE  SLIPSTREAM PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 10

 

At the start, BATYAM (R.Shelar, dr.5) was converged upon as VICTORIOUS CAUSE (Neeraj Rawal, dr.4) jumped awkwardly outwards and FAJR (P.Trevor, dr.6) jumped awkwardly inwards.

 

At the start, STELLA (App.S.Mosin) jumped out awkwardly.

 

Soon after the start, WINDS OF CHANGE (Suraj Narredu) shied away and shifted in due to the presence of OLUCHI (A.Sandesh) on its outside and went on to FAJR (P.Trevor), who went on to VICTORIOUS CAUSE (Neeraj Rawal), who in turn went on to TUDOR REGENT (D.K.Ashish).  

 

After the race, WINDS OF CHANGE was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Being a second time bleeder, the gelding is not to race for the stipulated period of eight weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, WINDS OF CHANGE was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind tendon and hock and also had lost its left hind plate. STELLA was found to be sound but having an abrasion at both the hind fetlock. TUDOR REGENT and GOTTAWEARSHADES were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(127) – THE SLIPSTREAM PLATE (DIV.I): (About)  1000 Metres – Runners - 10

 

Trainer S.Shaikh has been fined Rs.1,000/- for failing to produce the registered racing colours in respect of his charge RADICAL MACKIE. The Jockey wore the Emergency colours i.e. All Black.

 

At the start, TAJ E SHAHI (J.Pradeep, dr.3) jumped awkwardly outwards. ARABIAN FLIGHT (Vikram Jodha, dr.4) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to HOT AS ICE (App.Sandeep Jadhav, dr.5), who went on MOON RAKER (M.A.Roushan, dr.6).

 

Jockey J.Pradeep (TAJ E SHAHI) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

After the race, CONZTANZA was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MOON RAKER and ARABIAN FLIGHT (examined on 11/01/2013) were found to be sound.

RACE NO.3(128) – THE GENERAL OBAIDULLAH KHAN TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners – 3

 

The Clerk of the Scales reported that Jockey Dashrath Singh, the declared Rider for RODEO, had not reported at the Scales to be weighed-out for this race, as such, Jockey A.Sandesh substituted Jockey Dashrath Singh in this race. Jockey Dashrath Singh has been fined Rs.5,000/- for his lapse.

 

CAESARS STAR (C.S.Jodha) took a fly jump.

 

RACE NO.4(129) – THE  MARCHETTA PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 11

 

At the start, EXPELLIARMUS (P.Trevor, dr.2) jumped awkwardly outwards and jostled with SIZZLING LOVE (App.Prasad, dr.3).

 

Near 400 metres, SPRINGBANK (S.Zervan) shifted out and inconvenienced TROPICAL ZONE (Ishwar Pardeshi). Jockey S.Zervan has been fined Rs.1,000/-.

Near 100 metres, MAHIMA (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in under the use of the whip and caused severe interference to EXPELLIARMUS (P.Trevor).  The matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit.

 

The Stewards interviewed Jockey Neeraj Rawal and having heard him and viewing the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered and held him guilty of careless riding on his mount MAHIMA. However, keeping in mind that MAHIMA has the habit of lugging in and had done so in the previous race, the Stewards took a lenient view in the matter and decided to suspend his Jockey’s license for 2nd February, 2013  (permitted to ride work/mock race) .  Further, Trainer Ivor Fernandes has to take remedial measures and to show the mare to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a Mock Race, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, STAR BLESSINGS was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, EDGE OF GLORY and MAHIMA were found to be sound. EDGE OF GLORY had a gum injury and TROPICAL ZONE had a bruise at the left hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.5(130) – THE INDIAN AIR FORCE TROPHY: (About)1000 Metres – Runners - 10

 

The saddle on ALBUURZ was observed to have slipped back during the race, as such, Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been fined Rs.2,000/- for faulty saddling of his charge.

 

At the Start, JOSEPHINE (A.Sandesh,  dr.10) shifted in and inconvenienced EROTIC FLAME (Nirmal Jodha, dr.9). Jockey A.Sandesh has been cautioned.

 

At the start, TACHYON (D.A.Naik, dr.8) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to GOOD LOOKING (Dashrath Singh, dr.7) and as the former was being steadied, shifted in and made contact with the latter.

 

ANAHI (P.Trevor) hung out in the straight. Trainer S.S.Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

DREAMLAND (Imran Chisty) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, ANAHI was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind coronet and REIN IN SPAIN had a cut injury below the right hock.  ALBUURZ, TITLEIST, DREAMLAND and EROTIC FLAME (examined on 11/01/2013) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(131) – THE KIARA PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 15

 

DANCING MONEY (App.Sandeep Jadhav) took an awkward fly jump throwing her head, resulting in the rider getting unbalanced momentarily.  Trainer D.J.Surti has been  asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

Passing 1200 metres, DAREDEVIL (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out as the gelding was being settled and caused VINCERO (App.Prasad) to travel wide.

 

After the race, STAR GLORY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ICE AGE, VINCERO, DAUGHTEROFDESTINY and MACHALA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(132) – THE SECRET WARRIOR PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 7

 

While negotiating the bend, FLEETWOOD MAC (Dashrath Singh) lugged in and inconvenienced CHICO’S CHICA (J.Pradeep). Trainer S.K.Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

PORTO BANUS (A.Sandesh) lugged out in the straight. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding. 

 

After the race, PORTO BANUS was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(133) – THE TWIN STAR PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 13

 

Trainer Vinesh has been fined Rs.1,000/- for presenting his charge SHAHAAB (H.G.Rathod) without a Drop Nose Band, an equipment for the use of which prior permission was granted. The horse left the Paddock without a Drop Nose Band but the equipment was placed on the gelding at the Starting Gates.

 

At the start, STAR LEGACY (P.Trevor, dr.2) shifted out after an awkward jump and went on to KERRISDALE (A.Sandesh, dr.3) who went on to STORMYDAY (Amyn Merchant, dr.4).

 

SOLI DEO GLORIA (M.A.Roushan, dr.5) and SHOWERS OF HEAVEN (R.Shelar, dr.6) brushed each other. SHAHAAB (H.G.Rathod) and HABIBIAN (I.Pasha) jumped out awkwardly.

 

Soon after the start, SOMBRERO (Vikram Jodha) was tightened for room and steadied.

 

Approaching 600 metres, SHAHAAB (HG Rathod) clipped the hind heels of BUNGA BUNGA (Neeraj Rawal) stumbled and fell, dislodging its Rider. Due to the incident, SHOWERS OF HEAVEN (R.Shelar) reacted and suddenly shifted in and caused interference to DELGADO (Malcolm Kharadi).  SHAHAAB was examined by the Club’s V.O.  and found to have suffered complete fracture of the right fore radius and ulna bones. As such, SHAHAAB was euthanized on humane grounds.

 

Jockey M.A.Roushan (SOLI DEO GLORIA) has been reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift inwards under the use of the whip in the straight.

 

Jockey I.Pasha (HABIBIAN) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that after completion of the race, BUNGA BUNGA was observed to be sore by the left hind leg and the Jockey dismounted. Also, the filly was observed to have sustained clip injury below the left hock involving hind tendon. First aid treatment was given in the saddling enclosure and the filly was sent to the Equine Hospital in the Horse Ambulance for further management. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, DELGADO was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the left fore pastern. STAR LEGACY and KERRISDALE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9(134) – THE MARCHETTA PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 12

 

BONGANI (App.Nikhil Bhujbal) was reluctant to be stalled. WARRIOR PRINCE (S.P.Ranjane) was restless in the stall and not allowing its rider to settle. Trainers M.K.Jadhav and H.J.Antia have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, BELLE BRISE (S.N.Chavan) jumped awkwardly. BAYBLUES (Neeraj Rawal, dr.4) jumped awkwardly outwards on to THEOLOGY (S.Zervan, dr.5).

 

Near 1000 metres, XENIA (Akshay) shifted in and took the running of RED TABASCO (Dashrath Singh). Jockey Akshay has been cautioned.

 

THEOLOGY (S.Zervan) lugged-in in the final 200 metres. Trainer Bezan Chenoy has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (BAYBLUES) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift out under the use of the whip in the final stages of the race and inconveniencing RED TABASCO (Dashrath Singh).

 

BELLE BRISE (S.N.Chavan) hung out in the straight and carried MACHO UNO (Ishwar Pardeshi) outwards in the final 200 metres. Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

WARRIOR PRINCE was observed to have broken a blood vessel during the race and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, SAN RAFAEL was found to be sound, but having a gum injury. BONGANI also had a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.10(135) – THE TWIN STAR PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 14

 

Soon after the start, AIGAION (Suraj Narredu) was inconvenienced and steadied due to crowding of the field.

 

Near 600 metres, ICE AFFAIR (App.S.Mosin) shifted out due to the bend and caused WINSTON (S.Zervan) to shift out who forced DIVINE INSPIRATION (Malcolm Kharadi) to shift out, who momentarily inconvenienced AIGAION (Suraj Narredu).

 

Near 400 metres, ROCKING (Hanumant Singh) was inconvenienced while racing on the inside of ICE AFFAIR (App.S.Mosin).

 

Near 300 metres, DIVINE INSPIRATION (Malcolm Kharadi) shifted in and carried ZANTHOS (Daniel M.Grant) inwards who was steadied. Jockey Malcolm Kharadi has been cautioned.

 

WINSTON (S.Zervan) did not get a clear run in the straight.

 

Jockey Suraj Narredu, rider of AIGAION was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being the third offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2012/13, the matter was reported to the Stewards.

 

The Stewards interviewed Jockey Suraj Narredu and having heard him and viewing the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount AIGAION. The Stewards noted that Jockey Suraj Narredu’s license was already suspended up to the end of the Mumbai Meeting 2012/13 for an earlier offence.

 

Therefore, the Stewards decided that should Jockey Suraj Narredu apply for a Jockey’s license for the Season 2013/14, it will be granted to him, however, his license shall stand suspended w.e.f. 25th July, 2013 to 26th July, 2013 (both days inclusive) for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount AIGAION (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

After the race, AIGAION was observed to have broken a blood vessel and was sore by the right fore leg. The gelding is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that DISTANT PROMISE was examined at the stables on 11/01/2013 and found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of   4th, 8th, 9th & 10th race, viz. MAHIMA, SOLI DEO GLORIA, THEOLOGY and ZIDAAN, and the special sample of WINDS OF CHANGE (1st race), STAR BLESSINGS (4th race), STAR GLORY (6th race), WARRIOR PRINCE (9th race) and AIGAION (10th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

The Sr.V.O. reported that WESTERN ANGEL was observed after the mock race to have broken a blood. The gelding has been stopped from racing for the stipulated period of four weeks and until passed fit by the Club’s V.O.

RE : APPEAL FROM JOCKEY DASHRATH SINGH IN RESPECT OF SUSPENMSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S W.E.F. 10/1/13  TO 15/1/13 (BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE) AND A FINE OF RS.40,000/- FOR CARELESS RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “GLORIOUS MISS” IN R.NO.55 – THE NAUVKHAL PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON 9TH DECEMBER, 2012 – CASE REMANDED BACK TO THE STEWARDS BY THE APPEAL BOARD  - DE-NOVO ENQUIRY :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 10th January, 2013 interviewed Jockey Dashrath Singh who was accompanied by his Spokesman, Mr.Narendra Lagad, as also his two witnesses viz. Jockey J.E.Pereira, rider of DOUBLE DIAMOND and Apprentice Sandeep Jadhav, rider of SHERLOCK HOLMES. Having considered all the submissions made and having viewed the video recording of the race, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Dashrath Singh and held him guilty of careless riding on his mount GLORIOUS MISS  The Stewards noted that Jockey Dashrath Singh (GLORIOUS MISS) had gradually shifted in after the start and tightened SHERLOCK HOLMES (App.Sandeep Jadhav) on to DOUBLE DIAMOND who had to check his mount due to lack of room and in doing so, the filly  was unbalanced and in the process SHERLOCK HOLMES clipped, stumbled, dislodging the rider.

 

Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 10th February, 2013 to 21st February, 2013 (both days inclusive) for careless riding on his mount GLORIOUS MISS (permitted to ride work/mock race).

RE : MERCY PETITION FROM JOCKEY T.S.JODHA IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE W.E.F. 27/10/2012 TO 28/02/2013 (BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE) FOR FOUL RIDING ON “PERFECT STRENGTH” IN RACE NO.187 – THE PICCOLINA PLATE RUN ON SUNDAY, 7TH OCTOBER, 2012 :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 10th January, 2013 considered Mercy Petition from Jockey T.S.Jodha  and having deliberated the matter, decided to accept his mercy petition and reduced the period of his suspension up to 31st January, 2013.

 

However, the Stewards decided to keep the balance period of his suspension of 28 days, as a suspended sentence over the next three years i.e. if he was found guilty of a similar offence within the next three years commencing from 1st February, 2013, this suspended sentence, which is not appealable, will immediately come into force in addition to whatever further action the Stewards may take against him at that time.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF “COQUETTE” IN RACE NO.107 – THE WHITE METAL PLATE (DIV.I) (1200 METRES) RUN ON 30TH DECEMBER, 2012:

 

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait in the above connection. He said that the filly was drawn-12 and he had instructed the Jockey to take a good jump and get into a good position, give the filly a breather, start improving from the 800 metres and to do his best. He accepted that the filly had performed poorly and after the race Jockey S.Zervan informed him that the filly will not sprint and she required a longer trip. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait said that this was only the second run of the filly, in her first run in Race No.59 over 1200 metres the filly had all the chances to win in a weak set, however, she was beaten by WAVES OF MAGIC.  Subsequently, he had raced her again over 1200 metres this time keeping in mind that she had placed second earlier and had given her a chance but she performed poorly and keeping in mind  the filly’s breeding, he accepted the Jockey’s advice that she may require longer trips and plans to train her for longer trips. He added that she is a very light filly and he would wait for some time and allow her to gain some weight and thereafter race her over a longer trip. It was pointed out to Trainer Imtiaz  A.Sait that if one is to accept that the filly requires a longer trip then she should have been finishing on in this race over 1200 metres. Trainer Sait said that he had put the same question to the Jockey who had explained to him that since he was drawn-12 he had to keep riding her all the way to get into a good position and never allowed her to settle and this may not have suited the filly.

 

The explanation tendered by Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait was noted.
