RACE DAY REPORTS

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED 1 METRE WIDE FROM 1000 METRES TILL THE WINNING POST.

 

RACE NO 1 (194) - THE F. A. & K. A. IRANI TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS – 4

 

Near 500 metres, RIVER BLITZ (J.Chinoy) shifted inwards on to CHCEK HER OUT (P.S.Couhan) who in turn inconvenienced HIGHLAND FLAME (R.Shelar). Since RIVER BLITZ (J.Chinoy) lugged in during the race, Trainer Vinayak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey A.Sandesh (SAINTS N SINNERS) reported that his mount lugged out during the race. Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey A.Sandesh (SAINTS N SINNERS) has been cautioned for being feeble in his riding effort in the straight.

 

After the race, RIVER BLITZ was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 2 (195) - THE MARRIOTT HOTELS, PUNE TROPHY (DIV–II): (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS- 12

 

ITSPIRITOFRACING (Nirmal Jodha) was slow in the stride, losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer Anil Kumar has been asked to give the gelding more Gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

Jockey I.Shaikh (TAG ALONG TOMMY, dr.10) has been fined Rs.1000/- for shifting in before the Red Marker and in the process inconvenienced TEODOR (Akash Agarwal) and later carried LAST TANGO (A.Sandesh) inwards.

 

An enquiry has been opened into the running and riding of SWEATY BETTY and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, ITSPIRITOFRACING was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, DETROIT DEMON was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The filly has to be passed by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, TEODOR was found to be sound, having a gum injury.

 

RACE NO 3 (196) - THE JIMMY UMRIGAR TROPHY (DIV–II): (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS- 9

 

BEAUTIFUL MIND (D.K.Ashish) jumped out slowly and lost about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Jockey P.Trevor (SOLI DEO GLORIA) reported the loss of whip near 400 metres.

 

After the race, ORIENTAL SAPPHIRE was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 4 (197) - THE PRUDENTIAL CHAMP TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS- 7

 

Approaching 800 metres, ASTROMIA (Ladjadj Stephane) was hampered for a run when BARRINGO (Suraj Narredu) shifted in.  Since the Sr. VO reported that BARRINGO was found to be sore by the left fore leg, no further action was initiated in the matter. BARRINGO has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

TACHYON (P.Trevor) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer M.K.Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, COLOURS FLYING was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 5 (198) - THE KEENELAND JUVENILE FILLIES STAKES: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 5

 

After the race, MYSTIC TOUCH was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, SCORCH and BONGANI were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 6 (199) - THE NOSHIR & DOLLY DHUNJIBHOY SPRINT MILLION: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES

                                                                                                                                                 – RUNNERS- 10

Approaching 300 metres, ELIZABETH (C.Alford) was held up for a run for a few strides.

 

The explanation of Jockey P.S.Chouhan (RIVER STAR) that his Instructions , which were to go to the front  or to be in 2nd position, could not be followed, was noted.

After the race, WEIZHOU, RIVER STAR and CAPE FERRAT were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 7 (200) - THE VOLKSWAGEN INDIA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2400 METRES – RUNNERS- 8

 

Jockey Akash Agarwal (SHERIFF) reported the loss of whip near 500 metres.

 

Approaching 400 metres, SHERIFF (Akash Agarwal) shifted in and tightened FROST FAIRY (Kavraj Singh). Jockey Akash Agarwal has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

After the race, TARA was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

On return from the race, SAM BAHADUR collapsed in the Paddock and died.

 

RACE NO 8 (201) - THE NANOLI STUD PUNE DERBY (GRADE 1):(ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS- 11

 

PICASSO (C.Alford) planted, losing a distance at the start. Trainer Shyam S.Habbu has been asked to give the colt more Gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter before next accepting to race.

 

Near 500 metres, INVICTUS (P.Trevor) kept an erratic course, due to which MADDOX (Y.S.Srinath) was hampered and in the process went on to SURYAVEER (P.S.Chouhan) who was tightened. SURYAVEER was again tightened as INVICTUS shifted in. Travelling some distance further, PRONTO STAR (Dashrath Singh) and INVICTUS weakened and dropped back and in doing so, SURYAVEER, who was following, was again checked. Jockey P.Trevor (INVICTUS) has been cautioned. 

 

After the race, CARDINAL was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The colt has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, LAKE MICHIGAN and PICASSO were found to be sound.

 

MADDOX (Y.S.Srinath) was placed fifth and LAKE MICHIGAN (Neeraj Rawal) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO 9 (202) - THE JIMMY UMRIGAR TROPHY (DIV–I) (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS- 9

 

On arrival at the Starting Gates, EVELYN was examined by the Club’s VO and found to be sore by left fore leg and hence was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Orders. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, FAIRY EMPRESS (C.S.Jodha) jumped out awkwardly outwards and tried to veer out and jostled with ASHWA APOLLO (Ishwar Pardeshi). Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, FAIRY EMPRESS and STORMING HEART were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 10 (203): THE PUNE POLICE COMMISSIONER’S TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS- 15

 

REIN IN SPAIN (P.S.Chouhan) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to give the filly more Gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before next accepting to race.

 

While straightening for home, PRINCE OF TROY (Akash Agarwal) shifted out when there was insufficient gap and jostled with BOLD DANCER (Amyn Merchant). Jockey Akash Agarwal was reported to the Stewards for Careless Riding. The Stewards interviewed the Jockey and having heard the submissions made by him and viewing the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and decided to suspend his Jockey’s License for 13th November 2011 for careless riding. (Permitted to ride work/ Mock race).

 

LAKE WINNIPEG (Suraj Narredu) hung-in in the straight. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

LAGO MEDIO (A.J.Nilesh) lugged out during the race. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, LAKHADEMA, ALBUURZ and LAGO MEDIO were found to be sound. PERSIAN LILY had a cut injury on the left hip.

 

RACE NO 11 (204) - THE MARRIOTT HOTELS, PUNE TROPHY (DIV–I) (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS- 12

 

An Objection was lodged by Jockey Y.S.Srinath (HURRICANE BIRD, placed 2nd) against Jockey Sunny Chinoy, rider of CIRCUS RING (placed first). The reason being, within the first 100 metres from start, CIRCUS RING cut across him sharply and forced his horse on to the inside horses thus  causing a chain reaction whereby his horse lost momentum, stride and position, which cost him the race. The Stewards interviewed the Jockeys concerned as also Trainer H.J.Antia,  and having considered the  submissions made by them, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards  and relying on their judgment, decided to over-rule the objection.

 

Jockey Sunny Chinoy (CIRCUS RING) was fined Rs.2000/- for shifting in before the Red Marker whereby he made contact with KITE RUNNER (Kavraj Singh).

 

Soon after the start,  HURRICANE BIRD (Y.S.Srinath) shied away from CIRCUS RING (Sunny Chinoy) and shifted inwards and crowded the field on the inside i.e. BONNY LIGHT (P.Trevor), SEAROCK (Akash Agarwal) and PURPLE MOON (Akshay), the worst to be affected were BONNY LIGHT and SEAROCK. Since the incident was accidental, no action was initiated in the matter.

 

Jockey D.S.Rathore (FREANY) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to drift out in the straight.

 

After the race, BONNY LIGHT was found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th and 11th race viz. SAINTS N SINNERS, TAG ALONG TOMMY, SHARAARAT, ATTILA, HILLS AND STARS, LAKE WINNIPEG and CIRCUS RING and also that of ELIZABETH & PORTRUSH (6th race) and CARDINAL, MARAUDER, SURYAVEER (8th race) and the special sample of RISING ASSET & ITSPIRITOFRACING (2nd race), SOLIDEO GLORIA (3rd race), COLOURS FLYING (4th race), RIVER STAR (6th race) and HURRICANE BIRD (11th race) were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
