ADDITIONAL REPORT:

RE: APPEAL FROM JOCKEY P.TREVOR IN RESPECT OF THE FINE OF RS.20,000/- IMPOSED ON HIM BY THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB FOR UNSATISFACTORY RIDING ON “PERSIAN PRINCE” IN RACE NO 150 – THE IRISH THOROUGHBRED MARKETING MULTI-MILLION RUN ON SUNDAY, 24th JANUARY 2016:

The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 4thApril 2016 considered Appeal from Jockey P. Trevor in respect of the captioned subject matter.  The Board of Appeal studied all documents and papers that were submitted and heard the submissions made by Jockey P. Trevor and Trainer P. Shroff and having viewed the video of the race, deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds to the entire facts of the case,  the Board of Appeal felt that Jockey P. Trevor’s ride on PERSIAN PRINCE was in conformity with the Instructions given to him by Trainer P Shroff, though the Instructions should have been more elaborate, and his riding was not mala-fide as there was no drift in the odds for PERSIAN PRINCE and therefore cannot be termed as Unsatisfactory. The Board was also seized of the fact that Jockey P. Trevor rode PERSIAN PRINCE for the first time. However, the Board felt that the ‘settling’ of the gelding was too much, which was an error of judgement on his part and he was caught on the wrong foot in the race. The Board further felt that there was no co-relation with the charge leveled against Jockey P. Trevor and the penalty imposed. Therefore, the Board gave him the benefit of doubt and unanimously decided to allow his Appeal.

However, the Board decided to caution Jockey P. Trevor for having jeopardized the chances of PERSIAN PRINCE in Race no 150.  His Deposit for the Appeal was ordered to be refunded.
