RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED  6 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 10 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.  FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Janardhan, permission was granted to Trainer Vinesh to saddle his charge GRAN TURISMO in the 6th race, at his (Trainer Janardhan’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(247) – THE BAY OF ANGELS PLATE (DIV.II):(About)1200 Metres– Runners - 8

 

At the start, JOSEPHINE (C.S.Jodha, dr.5) jumped awkwardly outwards and at the same time NATIONAL PRIDE (Dashrath Singh, dr.6) jumped awkwardly inwards and jostled with each other.

 

ALECTO (S.Mosin) hung inwards throughout the race and scraped the rails on a couple of occasions and approaching 800 metres tightened SHEER ROMANCE (S.G.Prasad) who lost position. Trainer S.S.Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

JOSEPHINE (C.S.Jodha) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer B.Prakash has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

After the race, JOSEPHINE, SHEER ROMANCE, STRATEGY and  ALECTO were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(248) –THE  MULRAJ GOCULDAS TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres –Runners – 5  

 

After the race, SEA TREASURE was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(249)– THE  BAY OF ANGELS  PLATE (DIV.I):(About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 8

 

At the request of Trainer Mansoor Shah, AMARA was examined at 1025 hours on 09/03/2014 and was found to be sore by the left fore leg, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

BOURBON STREET (Sandeep Jadhav) was reluctant to be stalled and thereafter was restless in the stall. Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, SHERLOCK HOLMES (P.Trevor, dr.1) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to FORTUNE HUNTER (Y.S.Srinath, dr.2).

Jockey N.S.Parmar (BRYNHILL) reported that his mount lugged in during the race. Trainer Nazak Chenoy has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, RELIC HUNTER was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the right hind coronet. BOURBON STREET was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(250) – THE INDIAN NAVY TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 9

 

HIDDEN GOODNESS (P.Trevor) was reluctant to reach the starting point. Trainer S.S.Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the horse.

 

At the start, SET TO FLY (J.Pradeep, dr.4) and TRISARA (S.Zervan, dr.3) made contact with each other.

 

Soon on straightening for home, ONE WISH (S.P.Ranjane) was inconvenienced as HIDDEN GOODNESS (P.Trevor) shifted out and MOON SHADOW (S.G.Prasad) shifted in. Jockeys P Trevor and S.G.Prasad have been cautioned.  

 

After the race, BOMBARDIER was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind stifle. SET TO FLY, MYLA ROSE, ONE WISH and TRISARA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(251) – THE NADIA MARY HOMI WADIA TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 9

 

At the start, MOONDROPS (B.Nikhil, dr.1) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to ARTISTE (Dashrath Singh, dr.2).

 

At the start, CUMBRE VIEJA (Akash Agarwal, dr.7) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to DELIGHTFUL LADY (I.Pasha, dr.8).

 

ROYAL SAPPHIRE (C.S.Jodha) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

RACE NO.6(252) – THE  JAYARAMDAS PATEL GOLD TROPHY: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners – 14 

 

DIXIE DELIGHT (C.S.Jodha) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey Akshay (OSRIC) reported the loss of his whip near 200 metres. This being the third occasion of him losing his whip during the current Mumbai Meeting, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

After the race, ALLEGIANCE and GRAN TURISMO were found to be sound. PRESENCE had lost its left fore plate.

 

RACE NO.7 (253) – THE C.N.WADIA GOLD CUP (GR.2): (About) 2400 Metres – Runners – 9

 

Soon after the start, KEUKENHOF (Dashrath Singh) was tightened and lost position. Due to the tightening of the field FALCON (D.K.Ashish) shifted out and made contact with TO THE MANOR BORN (A.Sandesh).

 

After the race, MASTER SHIFU was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, NATIVE KNIGHT was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.8 (254) – THE  R.J.KOLAH TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 12

 

At the start, RED RUBY (I.Pasha, dr.1) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to FULL MOON (J.H.Christopher, dr.2).

 

At the start, STRAWBERRY CRUSH (A.Sandesh, dr.3) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to ADAMS WING (D.K.Ashish, dr.4), who in turn went on to INDUS PRINCE (N.S.Parmar, dr.5).

 

At the start, SIMPLY DIVINE (P.Trevor, dr.11) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to QUICK ANGEL (Shrikant Kamble, dr.10).

 

Jockey Dashrath Singh (SANAM) reported that he could not get a clear run in the final 200 metres due to lack of room.

SIMPLY DIVINE (P.Trevor) lugged-in in the straight and in the final stages of the race, shifted in and took the running of ZAZOU (S.Zervan) who was steadied and was unable to be ridden out due to lack of room. Trainer Kartik G. has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Jockey S.Zervan (ZAZOU) reported that his mount lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Jockey Y.S.Srinath (THE GENERAL) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. He has been further fined Rs.1,000/- for Improper use of the whip wherein he has used the whip with excessive frequency.

 

After the race, QUICK ANGEL, SIMPLY DIVINE and ZAZOU were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9(255) – THE  SPANIARDS INN  PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 10

 

SHOCKALOT (F.Irani) was slow in the strides, losing about 5 lengths at the start. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, JAIPUR GEM (Sandeep Jadhav) shifted in and went on to SEEN IT ALL (S.P.Ranjane) and then went  on to FAJR (Hanumant Singh), who in turn went in and made contact with DARK WILLIAM (S.G.Prasad) who was unbalanced and shifted out, due to which FAJR was tightened between DARK WILLIAM and JAIPUR GEM and lost position and again approaching 600 metres, ACE OF HEART (S.Mosin) was tightened while racing on the inside of JAIPUR GEM (Sandeep Jadhav). Jockey Sandeep Jadhav has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Jockey F.Irani (SHOCKALOT) has been reprimanded for failing to ride out his mount to complete advantage in the straight.

 

Near 100 metres, PRINCESS LOVE (D.K.Ashish) was inconvenienced as DARK WILLIAM (S.G.Prasad) shifted in. Jockey S.G.Prasad has been cautioned.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the comparative performance of BEAU ROYALE and a report will be submitted report shortly.

 

After the race, SEEN IT ALL was found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th race, viz. VICTORIOUS MARCH, MOON SHADOW, HEART OF THE CITY, PRESENCE and KEUKENHOF, as also that of TO THE MANOR BORN and CAESARS STAR (7th race),  and the special sample of AMARA (3rd race), JUST MY STYLE (5th race) and MASTER SHIFU (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : WITHDRAWAL OF “WINNING DESTINY” ON VETERINARY GROUNDS IN RACE NO.238 – THE A.HOYT PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON THURSDAY, 6TH MARCH, 2014 -:

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 9th March, 2014 interviewed Trainer Rehanullah Khan in the above connection and having considered the submissions made, were not entirely satisfied with the explanation tendered by him. His attention was drawn to the Calendar Notification dated 2nd April, 1987 RE : “DECLARED TO START – HORSES REQUIRING VETERINARY ATTENTION”  and he was warned to be more careful in the future.
