RACE DAY REPORTS

(EVENING RACING)

 

RAILS WERE PLACED  3 METRES AWAY FROM  ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) UP TO THE WINNING POST.  FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer C. D. Katrak, permission was granted to Trainer S. Waheed to saddle his charges PALATIAL & SHIVALIK PRINCESS (1st race), STARDOM CALLING & MAJESTIC LIGHT (6th race), PUGNACIOUS & DEVOTED EYES (7th race) and BACKSTREET BAY (8th race), at his (Trainer C. D. Katrak’s) risk and responsibility.

 RACE NO.1(117) – THE WESTERN INDIA RACE HORSE OWNERS’ ASSOCIATION TROPHY (DIV.II): - (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 15 

 

PALATIAL (Amyn Merchant) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer C. D. Katrak has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. 

 

Approaching 900 metres, SILVER GHOST (App. K. Nazil) shifted in on to ARMANDO (S. G. Prasad) and went across SPEEDO (App.S. A. Amit) and SHIVALIK PRINCESS (Neeraj Rawal) causing the latter to clip the heels and stumble. Thereafter, SILVER GOST continued to shift in and jostled with YARDSTICK (App. N. Nadeem). After questioning App. K. Nazil and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, his Apprentice Jockey’s license has been suspended w.e.f. 24th January, 2016 to 30th January, 2016 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race) for careless riding. Further, he has been referred to the Riding Instructor, Mr. Aslam Kader, to improve his riding skills.

 

Approaching 800 metres, VICTORIO (App. S. J. Sunil) shifted in on to ELEKTRA KING (N. S. Parmar), who in turn shifted in and tightened SILVER GHOST (App. K. Nazil) and YARDSTICK (App. N. Nadem). Apprentice S. J. Sunil has been cautioned.

 

Passing 300 metres, PALATIAL (Amyn Merchant) shifted out due to which YARDSTICK (App. N. Nadeem) clipped his heels and stumbled. Jockey Amyn Merchant has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, Jockey J. E. Pereira (SANSA) and App. S. A. Amit (SPEEDO) reported that their mounts hung-in in the straight. Trainers M. Narredu and Adhirajsingh Jodha have been asked to take remedial measures with their respective charge, before next accepting to race them.

 

After the race, DEMARCHE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, AAMERICAN AGATTA, ELEKTRA KING, SILVER GHOST, SANSA, PALATIAL and SPEEDO (examined on 10/01/2016), were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(118) – THE BYCULLA CLUB TROPHY: (About) 2800 Metres – Runners - 6

 

THE UNICORN (N. S. Parmar) was fractious and reluctant to be stalled. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (CAESARS STAR) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

After the race, OKAVANGO and AL SHAMSHEER were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(119)  – THE ENORMOUS CUP: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 18

 

On the way to the start, AZALEA (S. G. Prasad) dropped the rider and bolted towards the starting point. The gelding was examined by the Club’s V.O. who certified him fit to race and with the Trainer’s consent the gelding participated in the race.

 

BALCHANDRA (App. R. Ajinkya) jumped out slow, losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer Asad Siddiqui has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

The saddle on COMMITMENT (P. S. Chouhan) was observed to have shifted forward during the race. Trainer B. Prakash has been fined Rs.2,000/- for faulty saddling.

 

Approaching 400 metres, TERRIFIC (J. E. Pereira) shifted out, due which MYTHICAL SUNRISE (P. Trevor) and JEZEBEL (App. H. Zeeshan) had to check their respective mount and drop back. Jockey J. E. Pereira has been cautioned.

 

After the race, Trainer Zadmal Singh reported that his instructions to Apprentice Bhawani Singh (THE OTHER SONG) were to pull the mare out on turning for home and to do his best as the mare likes to gallop from the outside, however, the Apprentice had no room to pull the mare out in the straight.  The same has been noted.

 

After the race, NIZHONI was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

LOVEJOY, AZALEA and SHAPE THE SCAPE (examined on 10/01/2016), were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(120) – THE P.D.AVASIA TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  15

 

At the start, JIMBO (App. N. B. Kuldeep, dr.9) jumped out awkwardly throwing its head.

 

Approaching 1000 metres, in an effort to settle his mount, App. N. B. Kuldeep (JIMBO) shifted in on to WILD WAVES (App. K. Nazil) who had to be checked and dropped back. Thereafter, passing 800 metres JIMBO had to be steadied to avoid clipping the heels of the front runner.

 

After the race, ICE AGE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, FULL MOON was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(121) – THE NATIVE KNIGHT GOLD TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners - 14

 

At the start, ROMANTIC BEAUTY (C. S. Jodha, dr. 10) shifted in on to VOSHKIE (P. S. Chouhan, dr.9), who in turn went on to JORDANA (App. Yash Narredu, dr.8) due to which FLASHING HONOUR (A.Sandesh, dr.7) was hampered.

 

After the race, Jockey J. Chinoy (GAABRRIO) reported that his mount hung out throughout the race. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, App. R. Ajinkya (COLEY) was observed to have lost his stirrups while pulling up. On closer inspection of his ridding equipment, it was found that the saddle tree had broken. App.R.Ajinkya has been cautioned and asked to ensure that his riding equipment is in good condition before use. 

 

After the race, ALLEGIANCE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, JOSS was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(122) – THE WESTERN INDIA RACE HORSE OWNERS’ ASSOCIATION TROPHY (DIV.I):

                                                                                                                           - (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 15 

Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been fined Rs.1,000/- for an error in the Declaration Form of his charge FOREVER YOURS.

 

DIWALI LIGHTS (N. S. Parmar) was reluctant to be stalled and thereafter jumped out slow, losing about 5 lengths at the start.  MAJESTIC LIGHT (App. D. R. Shubham) lost about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer H. J. Antia and C. D. Katrak have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.  

 

ROCK THE TURF (App. Bhawani Singh) also lost about 4 lengths at the start. Since the mare had behaved in a similar manner previously, Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the mare to the satisfaction of the Starter in a mock race, before next accepting with her to race.

 

At the start, MIND OF MADNESS (App. S. J. Sunil, dr.8) shifted in on to ICE AFFAIR (S. P. Ranjane, dr.6) who had to be steadied.

 

Approaching 600 metres, STARDOM CALLING (Amyn Merchant) shifted in, inconveniencing MAJESTIC LIGHT (App. D. R. Shubham) who had to be steadied.

 

Passing 300 metres, MIND OF MADNESS (App. S. J. Sunil) shifted out on to STARDOM CALLING (Amyn Merchant) and thereafter shifted in tightening ROMANTIC LASS (A. Sandesh) who had to be steadied. On questioning, App. S. J. Sunil stated that his mount was running green in the straight.

 

Passing 150 metres, STARDOM CALLING (Amyn Merchant) shifted in on to MIND OF MADNESS (App. S. J.Sunil).

 

After the race, MIND OF MADNESS was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(123) – THE ZAVARAY POONAWALLA EVENING RACING TRIPLE MILLION:

                                                                                                                           - (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 14

At the request of Trainer S. Padmanabhan, ICE GLACIER was examined at 1845 hours on 07/01/2016 and was found to be sore by the left hind leg with injury on the left stifle and fetlock, as such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

At the request of Trainer Dallas Todywalla, GREY FLANNEL was examined at 1030 hours on 09/01/2016 and was found to be sore by the right fore leg, as such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

SIOBHAN (P. Trevor) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, SIOBHAN (P. Trevor, dr. 9) was observed to have shifted in and made contact with MEKONG DELTA (Kishore Kadam, dr. 8).

 

Passing 100 metres, ALLORA (Dashrath Singh) was observed to have shifted out.

 

After the race, Jockey David Allan (LORD DARLINGTON) reported that his mount hung out throughout the race. Tr. S. Padmanabhan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

After the race, Jockey Akshay (IRON MAN) reported the loss of his whip at about the 100 metres marker

 

After the race, IRON MAN was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race

 

After the race, PUGNACIOUS was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind pastern.

 

LORD DARLINGTON (David Allan) was placed fifth and SIOBHAN (P. Trevor) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO.8(124) – THE DAMODARDAS C.SHAH TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 12

 

ICE CUBE BABY (Neeraj Rawal) walked out of the gates and refused to raise a gallop. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, DRACO (S. Zervan, dr.6) was observed to have stumbled, in the process unbalancing the jockey.

 

Passing 1200 metres, LANCELOT (Amyn Merchant) shifted in thereby tightening TRAHERNE (Colm O’Donoghue).

 

Passing 1200 metres, DENNY CRANE (Akshay) shifted in, due to which HIDDEN SOUL (A. Sandesh) and DOMINGO (N. S. Parmar) were tightened whereby DOMINGO dropped back on to TRAHERNE (Colm O’Donoghue). Jockey Akshay has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Passing 100 metres TRAHERNE (Colm O’Donoghue ) shifted in and at the same time LANCELOT (Amyn Merchant) shifted out, due to which FAST LADY (Y. S. Srinath) had to be checked and dropped back.

 

After the race, TRAHERNE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race

 

After the race, DOMINGO was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race LEGEND OF THE SEAS, BACKSTREET BAY and DRACO were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winners of all races viz. SHIVALIK STORY (1st race), RODEO (2nd race), ROCKING (3rd race), BRAHMACHARI (4th race), DANSE DEBONAIRE (5th race), STARDOM CALLING (6th race), DEVOTED EYES (7th race) and DENNY CRANE (8th race), and the special samples of AZALEA (3rd race) and TRAHERNE (8th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ADDITIONAL REPORT:

 

MORNING TRACK WORK ON 8TH JANUARY,  2016:

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that after morning track work on 8th January, 2016 LORD JIM was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Being a second time bleeder, the gelding is not to race for the stipulated ban period of eight weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
