RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES WIDE FROM 1800 METRES TO 1400 METRES, 4 METRES AT 1200 METRES 5 METRES WIDE AT 1000 METRES, 6 METRES WIDE AT 800 METRES 7 METRES WIDE AT 600 METRES THEREAFTER 8 METRES WIDE UPTO THE WINNING POST. RAILS WERE PLACED 5 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

 

On a request from Trainer Deepesh Narredu, permission was granted to Trainer M. Narredu to saddle his charge PURE FOR SURE in the 4th race, at his own (Trainer Deepesh Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.

 

On a request from Trainer S. S. Attaollahi, permission was granted to Trainer P. Shroff to saddle his charge PLACE VENDOME in the 5th race, at his own (Trainer S. S. Attaollahi’s) risk and responsibility.

 

On a request from Trainer Nirad Karanjawala, permission was granted to Trainer Karthik Ganapathy to saddle his charge NAIROBI in the 7th race, at his own (Trainer Nirad Karanjawala’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (100) – THE RAO SAHEB KEDARI GOLD TROPHY  - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS -  10

 

SILVER SPRING (Akshay Kumar, dr.10) was reluctant to stall. Trainer Imtiaz Sait has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, BOMBAY (App. Mustakim Alam, dr.9) jumped inwards onto AXIS (A. K. Aniket, dr.8) causing the latter to be steadied.

 

SWEET EMOTION (T. S. Jodha, dr.3) jumped out awkwardly throwing her head up thereby losing about two lengths at the start. After questioning, Jockey T.S.Jodha stated that he was instructed to settle the filly and in the process she threw her head up. The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the incident and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

Passing the 400 metres, FANCY NANCY (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out forcing a passage thereby bumping and forcing INDIA STRONG (N. S. Parmar) outwards and in Jockey N.S.Parmar’s effort to hold his ground his mount leaned inwards. After questioning all concerned Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs.5,000/- and Jockey N. S. Parmar has been cautioned.

 

After the race, ENCHANTING EMPRESS & SWEET EMOTION were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (101) – THE YOGENDER SINGH TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS -  5

 

After the race, App. Haridas Gore (ZARAK) reported that passing the 300 metres his reins slipped momentarily. App. Haridas Gore has been severely cautioned.

 

At the request of Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait, endoscopy was performed on RUE ST HONORE’ at the Equine Hospital and was found to have EIPH (Gr.III) and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, FINCH was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3 (102) – THE RAO SAHEB KEDARI GOLD TROPHY  - DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS -  11

 

BIG RED (Y. S. Srinath, dr.9) and PHENOM (N. S. Parmar, dr.4) lost about 3 lengths and a length respectively at the start.

 

Approaching the 700 metres, RISING POWER (A. K. Aniket) was observed to have dropped back and thereafter ran detached from the field. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to ensure that his charge puts up a reasonable performance in the future.

 

After the race, PHENOM & RISING POWER were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4 (103) – THE BETBRICKS7 OCTOBER HANDICAP: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES –RUNNERS- 7

 

Approaching the 1000 metres, ULTIMO (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in at the same time SORRENTO SECRET (N. S. Parmar) leaned outwards resulting in them to jostle. Jockeys Neeraj Rawal and N.S.Parmar have been cautioned.

 

Passing the 900 metres, DASHMESH DANCER (Vishal N. Bunde) shifted out thereby carrying ULTIMO (Neeraj Rawal) outwards. Jockey Vishal N. Bunde has been cautioned.

 

Passing the 600 metres, OPERATION FINALE (R. Ajinkya) shifted in due to which SORRENTO SECRET (N. S. Parmar) had to check and change course. Jockey R. Ajinkya has been cautioned.

 

App. Haridas Gore (MAYSARA) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his 2nd offence during the current Pune Meeting 2023, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

After the race, SHOWMAN was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore, the colt has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, PURE FOR SURE was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have wolf tooth on right side. As such, Trainer Deepesh Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.5 (104) – THE THREPTIN FILLIES' & MARES' STAKES  (GRADE 3): (ABOUT) 1800 METRES – RUNNERS -  5

 

At the start, PLACE VENDOME (Akshay Kumar, dr.5) veered out and had to be steadied.

 

Passing the 600 metres, SUCCESSOR (S. Saqlain) shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing TRINKET (Amyn Merchant) along the rails. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey S. Saqlain has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, PLACE VENDOME was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore, the filly has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.6 (105) – THE PUNE CANTONMENT BOARD TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 11

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that RED MERLOT had been treated with shockwave therapy within the last 10 days, as such the gelding was not permitted to run.  Trainer Narendra Lagad has been fined Rs.10,000/- for contravention of the Calendar Notification regarding treatment of horses with Corporeal Shock Wave Therapy (or) Radial Pulse.

 

INISHMORE (C. S. Jodha, dr.9) took an awkward fly jump thereby losing about two lengths at the start.

 

At the start, STAR LAP (R. Shelar, dr.5) jumped out awkwardly due to which the filly was marginally slow to begin.

 

 

At the start, OUTLANDER (Neeraj Rawal, dr.3) jumped outwards onto PYRRHUS (C. Umesh, dr.4) thereafter WAIKIKI (N. S. Parmar, dr.6) shifted in and made contact with PYRRHUS forcing it inwards onto OUTLANDER who had to be steadied.

 

Jockey S. Saqlain (FORTUNE TELLER) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his 1st offence during the current Pune Meeting 2023, he has been fine Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, FORTUNE TELLER was found to have an injury on the left hind fetlock.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that OUTLANDER was found to have an ulcer in left eye.

 

RACE NO.7 (106) – THE CHEF D'OEUVRE PLATE: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 11

 

HISTORIC (N. Nadeem, dr.9) took a fly jump and thereafter stumbled resulting in dislodging its rider.

 

FARAHNOUSH (Amyn Merchant, dr.2) planted in the stall thereby losing considerable ground at the start. In view of the above and a similar behavior of the mare in its previous outing, Trainer Asad Siddiqui has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the mare in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter before next accepting to race.

The urine samples of the winner of the 2nd, 6th & 7th race, viz. OWN VOICE, PYRRHUS & NAIROBI, and the special samples of PURE FOR SURE (4th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

 

The urine & blood samples of the winner of the JULIETTE (Winner – 5th race) & SUCCESSOR (            2nd place – 5th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ADDITIONAL REPORTS:

 

RE: ENQUIRY INTO CONDUCT AND PENDING ENQUIRIES OF TRAINER VISHAL GAIKWAD WHERE HE HAS BEEN DECLARED A DISQUALIFIED/WARNED OFF PERSON BY THE STEWARDS ON 3RD APRIL 2022.

 

In this connection the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 30th September 2023, considered all papers and proceedings before them and also having heard the submissions made by Trainer Vishal Gaikwad and the Stipendiary Stewards. After deliberations, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer Vishal Gaikwad and held him guilty of gross misconduct and negligence. In that;

  

i)      They took note that he had failed to clear the Club’s dues amounting to Rs.22,31,590/-

      despite many reminders to clear the same thus causing losses to the Club;

ii)      Non-payment of wages to his staff on time; 

iii)    Being absent from the race course for a long period of time thus failing to attend to his

      responsibility as a responsible licenced professional; 

iv)   The points ii) & iii) above amounted abandoning of horses which is gross negligence on his

       part towards the animal and its owners; 

v)    Abandoning of RACHELLES PRIDE partly owned by him;

    

In view of the aforesaid and in pursuance of the Calendar Notification under the heading of “ABANDONING OF HORSES”, decided that should he apply for a Trainer’s License under the Rules of this Club, the same shall not be granted to him for a period of five years, that is, upto and including the Racing Season 2027/2028.
