RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “MAKE WAY FOR ME” IN RACE NO 30 - THE STORM PLATE RUN ON 2ND AUGUST, 2015 (TR.ADHIRAJSINGH JODHA AND JOCKEY KAVRAJ SINGH) – THE OWNER ALSO LODGED A COMPLAINT THAT HE IS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE JOCKEY’’S RIDING:

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 8th August, 2015 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry. They interviewed Tr.Adhirajsingh Jodha and Jockey Kavraj Singh and having heard them and having viewed the video of the race in question as also the previous run of the gelding, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Kavraj Singh and held him guilty of not permitting his mount to run on its merits. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha also expressed his dissatisfaction with the Jockey’s riding. In order to enquire further into the matter, Jockey Kavraj Singh was directed to submit his incoming and outgoing Mobile Phone records to the Stipendiary Stewards latest by 10.30 a.m. on 13th August, 2015 failing which he would not be permitted to accept rides in races till the enquiry is concluded.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “UKULELE” IN RACE NO 30 - THE STORM PLATE RUN ON 2ND AUGUST, 2015 AS ALSO THE LOSS OF WHIP BY APP.S.J.SUNIL:

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Sanjay Kolse and Apprentice S.J.Sunil in the above connection. Trainer Sanjay Kolse stated that he had instructed the Jockey to sit in 1st/2nd/3rd position but not to cut pace with anyone and to do his best in the straight. He said that he was disappointed with the Jockey’s riding at first. Subsequently, he said that he did not take objection as the filly returned with an injury and was running first time during the season and the fact that the boy has recently got the whip and he lost it as he did’nt have enough experience

App.S.J.Sunil said that his instructions were to sit in 2nd or 3rd but he felt that the horse got unbalanced and that he lost the whip as he got unbalanced. He stated that he could not ride out in the same manner as he did in Mumbai as the horse was not responding.

After viewing the video of the race in question as also its previous races, no action was initiated in the matter. However, both were informed that the enquiry is kept open and a close watch would be kept on the future running of the filly. Further, App.S.J.Sunil was given the benefit of the doubt with regard to his loss of whip.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “SHADOWFAX” IN RACE NO 31 - THE ENTREPRENEURS ORGANIZATION PUNE AUGUST HANDICAP RUN ON 2ND AUGUST, 2015 (TRAINER IMTIAZ A.SAIT AND JOCKEY C.S.JODHA):

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait and Jockey C.S.Jodha in the above connection.

The video of the race was viewed and when questioned, Tr.Imtiaz A.Sait said that Jockey C.S.Jodha has ridden this horse thrice in Mumbai and knows the horse, and he had instructed the Jockey to sit in a good position and to do his best. He said that he had also cautioned the Jockey to stay out of trouble during the race.

Jockey C.S.Jodha confirmed the instructions and said that soon after the start he had to check his mount since MULTIGLORY (Dashrath Singh) shifted in.

Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait did not agree with the Jockey’s contention. He observed that Jockey C.S.Jodha had checked his mount in anticipation.

When questioned about his riding effort in the straight, Jockey C.S.Jodha said that his mount was lugging-in and hence he could not be more vigorous. The video of the race was viewed and it was pointed out to Jockey Jodha that the video recording does not concur with his statement. Further, he had not brought this to the notice of the Stipes after the race and this could be an afterthought. The video of the previous run of SHADOWFAX run during the Mumbai Meeting 2014/15 was viewed and it was pointed out to Jockey C.S.Jodha that despite the horse lugging out he had continued to use the whip the horse, whereas in the race in question he did not use the whip.

The Stipendiary Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey C.S.Jodha and reported him to the Stewards for unsatisfactory riding. In that, the horse was in the betting and Jockey C.S.Jodha was instructed to sit well up but he sat in third last position. Even conceding that he may have lost position due to interference soon after the start, however, he made no effort to improve his position till coming well into the straight and thereafter made his move from the wide outside and he was feeble in his riding effort as compared to his ride on the same hose in Mumbai where he used the whip even though the horse was lugging out.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 8th August, 2015 interviewed Tr.Imtiaz A.Sait and Jockey C.S.Jodha and having heard them and having viewed the video of the race in question as also the horse’s previous run, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey C.S.Jodha and held him guilty of unsatisfactory riding. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 23rd August, 2015 to 5th September, 2015 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).

They interviewed Trainer C.Rajendra, Dr.Anil Kumar, In-charge of the Club’s Equine Hospital as also Dr.Prashant Wandhare and having heard them, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer C.Rajendra and held him guilty of misconduct and gross negligence and neglect in discharge of his duties as a licensed Trainer under Rule 202 (i) and Rule 202 (xvi) of the Rules of Racing of the Club.
