PUNE MEETING 2026, SPECIAL RACE DAY, SATURDAY, 8TH, AUGUST, 2026.

 

 (PENETROMETER: 4.4 (LONGCHAMP METHOD); GOING: CLOUDY)

 

RACE DAY REPORT

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT THEIR ORIGINAL POSITION FROM 1800 METRES TO 1400 METRES. 3 METRES WIDE AT 1200 METRES. 4 METRES WIDE AT 1000 METRES. THEREAFTER RAILS WERE PLACED 5 METRES WIDE UPTO THE WINNING POST. RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

 

On a request from Trainer Deepesh. Narredu, permission was granted to Trainer M. Narredu to saddle his charge SAFFRON GLOW in the 7th race, at his own (Trainer Deepesh. Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.

 

RACE NO.1 (26) – THE WESTERN INDIA TRAINERS' ASSOCIATION TROPHY DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 10

 

On arrival at the starting gates, on a request from the Stipendiary Stewards, MAJESTIC WARRIOR was examined by the Clubs Sr. VO and was certified fit to race.

 

At the start, NEUTRON (N.S Parmar, dr.3) jumped inwards and brushed the gates.

 

At the start, ESTEBAN (App. Avinash Paswan,dr.1) jumped outwards thereby tightening and inconveniencing   ETOILE (Dashrath Singh dr.2)  causing the latter to be steadied.

 

At the start APPALACHIAN (T.S.Jodha dr.9) jumped inwards, at the same time  AEON FLUX (Bhawani Singh,dr.7) jumped outwards throwing its head up thereby bumping and tightening MAJESTIC WARRIOR (J.Chinoy dr.8) drawn between them.

 

At the start, REGAL WARRIOR (Amyn Merchant dr.5) jumped out throwing its head up and was inclined outwards despite the riders’ efforts. As such, Trainer Faisal.A. Abbas has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, LION KING (S.Mosin,dr.4) jumped out awkwardly ,thereafter shifted out and had to be steadied in order to avoid clipping the front runner.

 

Soon after the start, APPALACHIAN (T.S.Jodha) leaned in thereby carrying MAJESTIC WARRIOR (J.Chinoy) inwards.  Jockey T.S. Jodha has been cautioned.

 

Approaching the 1000 metres, BEZALEL (Vivek G.) leaned in thereby tightening and inconveniencing LION KING (S.Mosin) causing the latter to be checked. Jockey Vivek G has been cautioned.

 

After the race, the V.O reported the following:

 

BEZALEL was trotted and found to be sound.

 

ETOILE was trotted and found to be sound.

 

MAJESTIC WARRIOR was trotted and found to be sound.

 

SPOTLIGHT was trotted and found to be sound.

 

REGAL WARRIOR was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

 BEZALEL sustained a right eye injury (sore).

 

RACE NO.2 (27) – The RAJARAM CHHATRAPATI TROPHY : (ABOUT) 1800 METRES – RUNNERS - 5

 

On arrival at the starting gates, on a request from Jockey Neeraj Rawal, the saddle used on his mount, ENDURANCE was checked and readjusted.

 

ZACHARIAS (S.Zervan, dr.2) was observed to have ducked the front gate as the start was affected resulting in the colt losing a length. As such, Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the colt to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before next accepting to race.

 

Passing the 1200 metres, ZACHARIAS (S.Zervan) shifted in and went across GOLDEN DANCER (Akshay Kumar) causing the latter to be steadied, Jockey S Zervan has been cautioned. 

 

After the race, the VO reported the following:

 

GOLDEN DANCER was trotted and found to be sound.

 

ZACHARIAS was trotted and found to be sound.

 

ENDURANCE was trotted and was found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its Right Hind Fetlock.

 

YOUREMANORBORNE was trotted and was found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its Left Hind Fetlock.

 

RACE NO.3 (28) – THE WESTERN INDIA RACE HORSE OWNERS' ASSOCIATION TROPHY :  (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 6

 

At the start, FIGHTON (Prashant P. Dhebe, dr.6) jumped outwards and had to be steadied.

 

At the start, CREDENCE (App S.Siddharth, dr,1) was observed to have lost its footing and stumble.

 

Approaching the 1000 metres, TURN AND BURN (N.S.Parmar, dr.2) leaned outwards thereby inconveniencing MARKET KING (Vivek G.), racing on its haunches. Jockey N.S. Parmar has been cautioned.  

 

Jockey Vivek G. was observed to have used the whip in an improper manner on his mount MARKET KING this being his first offence during the Pune meeting 2026, he has been fined Rs.2000.

 

After the Race, the VO reported the following:

 

MARKET KING was trotted and found to be sound.

 

FIGHTON was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its left hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.4 (29) – THE JOCKEYS ASSOCIATION OF INDIA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 11

 

LAND OF PLENTY (C.S.Jodha) refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts, was permitted to be withdrawn before coming under the Starters orders. Considering the abovementioned behavior of the horse and a similar behavior in his last outing where he was accepted to run. Trainer Subhag Singh has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the horse in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Starter before next accepting to race

 

 At the start, COME SEPTEMBER (Neeraj Rawal, dr.1) lost about four lengths. As such Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the mare to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before next accepting to Race

 

Soon after the start, GOLDEN HEART (A.S.Peter) shifted out thereby bumping and forcing ZEPHYR (P.S.Kaviraj) outwards onto GIANT GOLD (Aditya Waydande), due to the incident GIANT GOLD had to be checked.  Jockey A.S Peter has been cautioned.

 

Passing the 1200 metres LUMINOSITY (App. S.Siddharth) shifted out thereby starting a chain reaction due to which SHANDAAR (Vivek G.), VORTEX (App. Ramswarup) and ENRICH (Yash Narredu) were inconvenienced. After the race, on questioning App S Siddharth stated that his mount was keen and in order to avoid clipping the front runner, he rolled outside. His explanation was noted.

 

After the race, Jockey Yash Narredu reported that his mount ENRICH was inclined outwards throughout the race despite his efforts, Trainer M Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race.

 

App Ramswarup( VORTEX)  reported loss of whip near the  200 meters. This being his first instance during the current Pune meeting 2026, no action has been initiated.

 

Jockey S.Zervan was observed to have used the whip in an improper manner on his mount DESERT CLASSIC, this being his first offence in the current Pune Meeting 2026, he is being fined Rs 2,000/-.

 

Jockey Vivek G was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount SHANDAAR. This being his second offence during the current Pune Meeting 2026, he is being fined Rs 5,000/-

 

After the Race, the V.O reported the following:

 

ENRICH was scoped and was found to have broken a blood vessel (Grade 1)

 

SHAANDAAR was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its right hind fetlock.

 

COME SEPTEMBER was trotted at the stables and was found to be Sore by Right Fore, As such , the mare has to be passed fit by the Clubs V.O before next accepting to race

 

VORTEX was reported to have a right eye injury (sore)

 

RACE NO.5 (30) – THE WESTERN INDIA TRAINERS' ASSOCIATION TROPHY DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 9

 

TREASURE GOLD was not declared to start after accepting with the gelding due to late realization of medication that had been logged. As such, Trainer Bezan Chenoy has been fined Rs.5,000/- for his lapse and the gelding was subjected to sampling.

 

HEAVEN’S RYTHYM (S.J.Sunil) refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts and was permitted to be withdrawn before coming under the Starters order.  As such, Trainer M Narredu has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the starter before next accepting to race.

 

At the start SANTANA ROW (App Ramswarup, dr.4) jumped outwards at the same time HOWLIN WOLF (Prashant Dhebe dr.5) leaned inwards and they made contact.

 

At the start, MIRAE (App.N.Bhosale dr.2) was observed to have lost its footing and stumble.

 

At the start, AGEISJUSTANUMBER (J.Chinoy dr.9) jumped inwards and made contact with BELIEVE (S.Mosin dr.8) causing the latter to be steadied.

 

Passing the 1000 meters, CHELSEA (App.Bharat Singh) shifted in and went across SANTANA  ROW (App.Ramswarup)  who had to be steadied , due to which MIRAE (App,N.Bhosale) racing on its haunches had to check  and change course thereby carrying UNDERCOVER (A.Sandesh) outwards.  After questioning all concerned, App Jockey Bharat Singh has been cautioned.

 

After the race, the Sr. V.O reported the following:

 

UNDERCOVER was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its left hind fetlock

 

MARIUS was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its left hind fetlock

 

MIRAE was trotted and was found to be sore by right fore. As such, the mare has to be passed fit by the Clubs VO before next accepting to race.

 

MARCUS was reported to have an injury on its right eye (sore).

 

RACE NO.6 (31) – THE YOHAN Z. POONAWALLA TURF CLUB TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 5

 

At the start ENCINO (A. Sandesh dr.3) jumped outwards, at the same time SOCIAL BUTTERFLY (P. Trevor dr.5) jumped inwards thereby tightening PRIDE’S PRINCE (Anthony Raj dr.4) drawn between them. 

 

Passing the 300 meters ULTIMO (Dashrath Singh) leaned outwards and at the same time ENCINO leaned in due to which SOCIAL BUTTERFLY (P.Trevor) was hampered for room. After questioning all concerned, Jockey A.Sandesh and Jockey Dashrath Singh have been cautioned.

 

After the race ,an objection was lodged by Jockey A.Sandesh , rider of ENCINO  placed 2nd by the judge against Jockey Dashrath Singh , rider of ULTIMO placed first by the judge , in that “ passing the top of the straight , I am gradually gaining ground on ULTIMO , and ULTIMO keeps drifting out and inconveniencing my horses stride whereby I have finished on the center / outer portion of the track thereby costing me a certain winner , the Stewards after hearing the submissions made by both the jockeys , viewing the video recording of the race from all angles , in conjunction with the Stipendiary Stewards and acting on their own observations of the race decided to overrule the objection , termed it as accidental and the order of placing as declared by the judge remain unchanged

 

After the race,N.S. Parmar ( KAVYA) reported that his mount was hanging in the straight despite his efforts, Trainer M.K. Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of ENCINO and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

RACE NO.7 (32) – THE INDIAN ASSOCIATION OF EQUINE PRACTITIONERS TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 8

 

After being stalled, the Australian bit lifter used on RED ROSE (P.Trevor dr.8) was observed to have snapped and the same was removed, as such Trainer Aman Altaf Hussain has been cautioned.

 

THUNDERING GREY (N.Bhosale dr.4) lost about a length at the start.

 

At the start SAFFRON GLOW (A.S.Peter dr.6) throwing its head up due to which the filly jumped out awkwardly and lost about four lengths at the start, Trainer Deepesh Narredu has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the starter before next accepting to race.

 

 

After the race, the VO reported the following:

 

THUNDERING GREY was observed to have broken down, with the consent of Trainer Narendra Lagad , the gelding was put down and a detailed medical report is awaited

 

Trainer Deepesh Narredu has been fined Rs.1000 for failing to inform the use of (Red Hood) on his charge SAFFRON GLOW.

 

The Sr. VO reported the following

 

ACROPOLIS was trotted and found to be sound

 

RED ROSE was trotted and found to be sore by right fore. As such, the filly has to passed fit by the Clubs V.O before next accepting to race.

 

SAFFRON GLOW was trotted and found to be sound

 

ACROPOLIS was reported to have a superficial ulcer on its right eye (sore) and an ulcer on its left eye.  

 

RACE NO.8 (33) – THE STRATEGIC MOVE PLATE: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 10

 

EXHALT was examined by the Clubs Sr. V.O on 5th August 2026, was found to be sore by right fore and was permitted to be withdrawn on veterinary grounds. As such, the mare has to be passed fit by the Clubs VO before next accepting to race

 

At the start OKINAYUME (App Ramswarup dr.4) jumped outwards and made contact with ASHWA ANKARA (A.S.Peter dr.5).

 

ASWA ALMATY (App Bharat Singh dr.1) jumped out brushing the gates

 

Soon after the start JETFIRE (Prashant P. Dhebe) shifted in and went across MA CHERIE (App. S. Siddharth) and thereafter further shifted in and made contact with IMPULSIVE (App. Avinash Paswan)

 

 

MOCK RACE

 

After the race the VO reported ACROBATIC was found to be sore by right fore. As such, the filly has to be passed fit by the Clubs VO before next accepting to race.

ESTEBAN,BREAK POINT,SANTANA ROW,ULTIMO, ADONIS, ENCINO (Placed 2nd , 6th Race) and the special samples of SPOTLIGHT (1ST Race,),ZACHARIAS(2nd Race), ENRICH(2nd Race),UNDERCOVER(5th Race, TREASURE GOLD(5TH Race)  were collected for detection of prohibited substances.
