RACE NO.1(187) – THE PICCOLINA PLATE: (About) 2400 Metres – 6 Runners

At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards Enquiry was held into the running of this race.  The reason being that Jockey TS Jodha (PERFECT STRENGTH, Placed 2nd ), had hit SAVAGE GARDEN (P.Trevor, Winner), deliberately with his whip on a few occasions

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to maintain the Order of Placing as declared by the Judge.

The Stewards after the last race interviewed Jockey T.S.Jodha in the above connection and having heard him and having viewed the video recording of the race, held him guilty of foul riding on his mount PERFECT STRENGTH. In that, he deliberately and intentionally hit SAVAGE GARDEN (P.Trevor), who was racing alongside on his outside, with the whip on a few occasions in the straight. However, keeping in mind that he had admitted his guilt and apologized for the same, the Stewards took a lenient view and decided to suspend his Jockey’s  license w.e.f. 27th October, 2012 to 28th February, 2013 (both days inclusive). (permitted to ride work).

Passing 600 metres, FIFTH GEAR (Dashrath Singh) was tightened while racing on the inside of APACHE INDIAN (Ishwar Pardeshi). Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi has been cautioned.
