On a request from Trainer M.Narredu, permission was granted to Trainer Damodaran D.Pillai to saddle his charges EMERGING STAR, OKAVANGO and MANYATTA in the 2nd, 5th and 6th race respectively, at his (Trainer M.Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer P.Shroff, permission was granted to his Assistant Trainer Vishal Gaikwad, to saddle his charges PORT BLAIR, BELVEDERE, SCARLET PIMPERNEL, WINGED KING, PROTECTOR OF PARIS and KNIGHT OF KE in the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th race respectively, at his (Trainer P.Shroff’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Shyam S.Habbu, permission was granted to Trainer Hosidar Daji, to saddle his charge CLINTON in the 5th race, at his (Trainer Shyam S.Habbu’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(121) – THE LIVE LEGEND PLATE : (About) 1400 Metres – 11 Runners
PEPE SENIOR (V.Chandrakant) took an awkward fly jump throwing its head up thereby losing about 4 lengths at the start. SENOR HILL (Akash Agarwal) planted and lost about 6 lengths at the start. Trainers Rehanullah Khan and Suresh Chavan have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar (DAREDEVIL) reported that he had to ease up his mount for a few strides near 300 metres as PEPE SENIOR (V.Chandrakant) went across him. Jockey V.Chandrakant has been cautioned.
After the race, OSRIC was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the right hind bulb of heel. SENOR HILL, VIVA CAPRI, DAREDEVIL and MONEY STRIKE were found to be sound.
RACE NO.2(122) – THE RADICAL FORCE PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – 5 Runners
At the start, EMERGING STAR (App.Sandeep Jadhav) ducked out, losing some ground.
After the race, SO TRUE and RULE FOREVER were found to be sound.
RACE NO.3(123) – THE PERSONIFIED PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – 10 Runners
BELVEDERE (A.Sandesh) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
ARZAAN (T.S.Jodha) was slow in the strides, losing about 2 lengths at the start.
RACE NO.4(124) – THE CONSEQUENCE PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – 7 Runners
At the start, NIRBHAYA (Akshay) jumped awkwardly outwards.
After the race, ROSIE SUNSHINE was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind fetlock.
RACE NO.5(125) – THE ROSE ROYAL TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – 8 Runners
SCARLET PIMPERNEL (A.Sandesh) was slow in the strides, losing about 3 lengths at the start.
After the race, OKAVANGO, INVICTUS and MASTER BULLET (examined on 08/09/2013) were found to be sound.
RACE NO.6(126) – THE IDAR GOLD TROPHY (GR.3): (About) 2400 Metres – 6 Runners
ANGEL CROWN (Shrikant Kamble) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Jockey Suraj Narredu (OCEAN AND BEYOND) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
RACE NO.7(127) – THE PREMIER COLLECTION PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1600 Metres – 10 Runners
ORIENTAL SAPPHIRE (Akshay) jumped out tardily from the gate thus losing about 5 lengths at the start. Trainer Janardhan has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
After the race, the upper portion of the right cowl of the Blinkers on ORIENTAL SAPPHIRE was observed to have come off. On examination the equipment was found to be in unserviceable condition, as such Trainer Janardhan has been fined Rs.1,000/-.
After the race, STAR LEGACY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, NOVAK, STAR LEGACY and SEEKING MAGIC were found to be sound.
RACE NO.8(128) – THE MACCHUPICCHU GOLD CUP: (About) 1400 Metres – 11 Runners
Trainer Nina M.Lalvani fined Rs.1,000/- for not obtaining prior permission to use bandages on her charge ORIENTAL DAWN.
Jockey Malcolm Kharadi (PROTECTOR OF PARIS) when questioned, stated that the gelding did not gallop at any stage of the race. He opined that the going may not have suited the gelding. An enquiry has been initiated into the poor performance of PROTECTOR OF PARIS and a report will be submitted shortly.
Jockey Akshay (AWESOME SMILE) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
After the race, it was observed that the left fore plate of AWESOME SMILE was loose. WINGS OF GLORY was observed to have a cut injury at the left hock. DESTINED TO GLORY, THEOLOGY and PROTECTOR OF PARIS were found to be sound.
RACE NO.9(129) – THE PREMIER COLLECTION PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1600 Metres – 11 Runners
EYE OF THE STORM (Kavraj Singh) was slowly out, losing about 2 lengths at the start.
Jockey Dashrath Singh (NOBLE REWARD) reported that his saddle slipped forward soon after the start, as such, Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
After the race, DANSE DEBONAIRE was found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of the 4TH, 6TH, 7TH, 8TH & 9TH race, viz. ROSIE SUNSHINE, AN ACQUIRED TASTE, NOVAK, ZORAAVAR and KNIGHT OF KE, as also that of OCEAN AND BEYOND & RODEO (6th race) and the special sample of STAR LEGACY (7th race) and PROTECTOR OF PARIS (8th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : APPEAL AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENCE W.E.F. 31ST AUGUST, 2013 TO 30TH APRIL, 2014 (BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE) FOR NOT PERMITTING HIS MOUNT “ICE AGE” TO RUN ON ITS MERITS – ENQUIRY INTO THE RIDING OF “ICE AGE” IN RACE NO.210 – THE ICE MAGIC PLATE (DIV.I) RUN ON SUNDAY, 17TH FEBRUARY, 2013 AT THE MUMBAI RACE COURSE – JOCKEY MARTIN DWYER – HE WAS GRANTED A STAY ON THE PUNISHMENT UNTIL HIS APPEAL WAS HEARD:
The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on Saturday, 7th September, 2013 having considered his appeal, the Grounds of Appeal, all documents and papers of the proceedings as also the submissions made by him and after having also heard Trainer C.D.Katrak and Dr.P.T.Khambatta and having viewed the video tape recording as also the still photographs of the race in question and having deliberated on the matter at length, was not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of not allowing his mount ICE AGE to run on its merits in the abovementioned race. However, taking an overall view and keeping in mind his previous clean record and the fact that he rides in UK where racing is conducted every day, the Board took a lenient view in the matter and decided to partially allow his appeal and accordingly decided to suspend his Jockey’s license from 9th September, 2013 to 3rd November, 2013 (both days inclusive). His deposit was ordered to be refunded. This decision was taken by a casting vote as provided in the Rules of Racing of the Club.

RE : APPEAL AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB TO EXCLUDE HIM I.E. NOT TO ADMIT HIM FROM 11TH AUGUST, 2013 TO 10TH AUGUST, 2018 TO THE CLUB’S PREMISES WHERETHE POWERS OF THE STEWARDS ARE IN FORCE – ALLEGED ACCEPTANCE/LAYING OF ILLEGAL BETS BY HIM AT THE MUMBAI RACE COURSE ON 8TH JUNE 2013 DURING BANGALORE OFF-COURSE RACE DAY – MR.AKBAR SHAIKH:
The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on Saturday, 7th September, 2013 considered appeal from Mr.Akbar Shaikh and interviewed him and his Spokesperson. The Board of Appeal, having studied all documents and papers that were submitted, including the Grounds of Appeal and having heard the submissions made by Mr.Akbar Shaikh and his Spokesperson as also Maj.Tushar Johari from the Club’s Security Department and having deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds, decided to reject the appeal.
