RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 5 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY FROM 800 METRES TO 500 METRES AND THEREAFTER 5 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST.

 

FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 5 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha, permission was granted to Trainer Himmat Singh to saddle his charges ESCAPE VELOCITY in the 2nd race & FIERY RED in the 5th race, at his own (Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha’s) risk and responsibility.

 

On a request from Trainer S. S. Attaollahi, permission was granted to Trainer P. Shroff to saddle his charge ELPENOR in the 4th race, at his own (Trainer S. S. Attaollahi’s) risk and responsibility.

 

RACE NO.1 (130) – THE M. H. AHMEDBHOY CUP: (ABOUT) 2400 METRES – RUNNERS -  5

 

At the start, CHAT (P. S. Chouhan, dr.1) jumped outwards onto WILLY WONKAA (K. Nail, dr.2) causing the latter to be steadied.

 

After the race, BEYOND MEASURE was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (131) –  THE A. F. S. TALYARKHAN CUP: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 5

 

After the race, App. Haridas Gore (EVGENIA) reported that his mount was running green in the initial part of the race.

 

RACE NO.3 (132) – THE RAJPIPLA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS -  4

 

At the start, SON OF A GUN (App. Mustakim Alam, dr.1) jumped outwards onto BABY BAZOOKA (K. Nazil, dr.2), who had to be steadied.

 

Jockey K. Nazil (BABY BAZOOKA) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

RACE NO.4 (133) – THE T. M. GOCULDAS PLATE: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES –RUNNERS- 5

 

At the request of Trainer Nazzak B. Chenoy, ATAASH was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 09.30 a.m. on 6th March 2024 at the stables and was found to be sore by right hind, as such, the mare was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

On arrival at the starting gates, MISTY (P. S. Chouhan) was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified her fit to race.

 

Approaching the 200 metres, it was observed that MISTY (P. S. Chouhan) was hanging out despite the riders efforts due to which Jockey N. S. Parmar (WAIKIKI) racing on its haunches shifted out thereby carrying KARIENA (Neeraj Rawal) outwards. Trainer Hosidar Daji has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey Akshay Kumar (ELPENOR) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, LORD AND MASTER was observed to have broken a blood vessel (2nd time) and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of eight weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ELPENOR & MISTY were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5 (134) – THE EDGAR DESYLVA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 10

 

DEMETRIUS (T. S. Jodha, dr.2) was reluctant to be stalled despite substantial efforts, as such the gelding was permitted to be withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Trainer Subhag Singh has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, NORTHERN SINGER (App. Mustakim Alam, dr.9) jumped outwards and made contact with DOWSABEL (Amyn Merchant, dr.10) and ricochet onto MIGHTY THUNDER (J. Chinoy, dr.8) who had to be steadied, thereafter, ARBITRAGE (App. Haridas Gore, dr.11) went across DOWSABEL who had to be steadied.

 

At the start, ADONIS (K. Nazil, dr.3) jumped outwards onto FIERY RED (M. S. Deora, dr.4) at the same time MIRAE (App. S. Saba, dr.5) jumped inwards and they made contact. 

 

After the race, ENLIGHTENED & MIRAE were trotted and found to be sound.

 

After the race, MIGHTY THUNDER & DOWSABEL were trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 (135) –  THE NARAYANDAS J. DAVE PLATE  - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 8

 

At the start, ZIP ALONG (App. Mustakim Alam, dr.6) jumped outwards onto DAGGER’S STRIKE (M. S. Deora, dr.7) thereby forcing the latter outwards. App. Mustakim Alam has been cautioned to be more alert at the start.

 

After the race, ZACAPA was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the gelding has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, NEILINA was trotted and found to be sound and ATOMIC ANGEL was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7 (136) –  THE NARAYANDAS J. DAVE PLATE  - DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 8

 

At the request of Trainer Hosidar Daji, DEFINITELY was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 10.00 a.m. on 5th March 2024 at the stables and was found to have painful swelling on right fore tendon, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, SHE’S A TEASER (S. Mosin) shifted out and went across GOOD DEEDS (Akshay Kumar) who had to be checked. Jockey S. Mosin has been cautioned.

 

Approaching the 1200 metres, NOBILITY (Prashant P. Dhebe) lost its footing and got unbalanced momentarily.

 

After the race, NOBILITY, SHOWMAN, SHE’S A TEASER & DRAGON WINGS were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th race, viz. SANTISSIMO, SON OF A GUN, MISTY, ARBITRAGE & ZACAPA, and the special sample of ELPENOR (4th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

DES MARQUIS was observed to have broken a blood vessel (3rd time) and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of twelve weeks. The colt has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

RE: CARELESS RIDING BY JOCKEY P. VINOD ON “ESPERANZA” (DRAWN 3) IN RACE NO.127 THE FLORRIE & FREDDY SOPHER GOLD TROPHY (DIST. 1200 MTRS.) RUN ON 25TH FEBRUARY 2024:

 

In connection with the captioned subject, the Stipendiary Stewards having questioned Jockey P. Vinod on Thursday, 29th February 2024, having viewed the video recording of the race in question, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him. In that, approaching the 300 metres, he shifted out under use of the whip on his mount ESPERANZA, wherein, he failed to take corrective measures and persisted with the whip on the right, despite of his mount shifting out, as such, he went across FIGHTON (N. S. Parmar) and DREAM SELLER (R. Ajinkya) thereby inconveniencing both the horses who had to check and change course. Therefore, it was decided to suspend his Jockeys licence for 2 race days i.e. on 24th & 31st March 2024 (permitted to ride work/ mock race), for careless riding.

RE: CARELESS RIDING BY APPRENTICE JOCKEY N. BHOSALE ON “SON OF A GUN” (DRAWN 5) IN RACE NO.86 THE MATHRADAS GOCULDAS TROPHY (DIST. 1200 MTRS.) RUN ON 21ST JANUARY 2024:

 

In connection with the captioned subject, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 25th February 2024, having heard the submissions made by App. N. Bhosale, as also the Stipendiary Stewards, having viewed the video recording of the race in question and having deliberated in the matter at length, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him. In that, approaching the 200 metres, he shifted in on his mount SON OF A GUN under the use of the whip and went across CELLINI (Neeraj Rawal) thereby tightening and inconveniencing the latter who had to check and drop back, thereafter, he further shifted in under urgings thereby tightening and inconveniencing AMAZONIA (Yash Narredu) along the rails, who had to be checked. Therefore, it was decided to suspend his Apprentice Jockey’s licence for 1 race day i.e. on 24th March 2024 (permitted to ride work/mock race) for careless riding.
