ADDITIONAL REPORT :

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE WHIP LOSS OF  JOCKEY A.SANDESH “SANAM” IN RACE NO.11 - THE GATEWAY OF INDIA PLATE RUN ON SUNDAY, 22ND  NOVEMBER  2015 :

Jockey A.Sandesh was shown the replay of the race and on subsequent questioning, he stated that as he came into the final furlong he pulled out his whip and gave the filly a crack. Thereafter, when he again used the whip, in his opinion the middle portion of the whip made contact with the horse and bounced back which weakened his grip and he lost the whip.

After viewing the incident of the whip fall, the Stipendiary Stewards decided to give Jockey A.Sandesh the benefit of grave doubt despite the horse being a favourite and he was asked to be more careful in the future.

RE:ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND  RIDING OF “BROWN DYNAMITE” (DRAWN.7) IN RACE NO.14 - THE COL. MAHADIK MEMORIAL TROPHY (1400 METRES), RUN ON SUNDAY 22ND NOVEMBER  2015 :

Trainer S.K.Sunderji and Jockey Vikram Jodha were questioned in the above connection. The trainer stated that his instructions to the Jockey were to sit 2nd / 3rd or wherever he can and to do his best. He added that his observation is that the Jockey sat well up as instructed and did his best. He said that Jockey Vikram Jodha had improved his position but the filly  responded a little bit and thereafter packed up and in his opinion the filly was not in the same form as she was in Pune.

The race was viewed and thereafter on questioning, Jockey Vikram Jodha confirmed the instructions and added that even though he had used the whip four times in the straight the filly had not responded.

After viewing the race, the explanation tendered by the trainer and jockey was noted. However, keeping in mind the poor performance of the filly in this race, Tr.S.K.Sunderji was informed that he should maintain the running pattern as the Stipendiary Stewards will be keeping a close watch on the future runs of the filly. Further Jockey Vikram Jodha has been asked to be more vigorous in his riding efforts in the future.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND  RIDING OF “PURE BLISS” (DRAWN.1) IN RACE NO.14 - THE COL. MAHADIK MEMORIAL TROPHY (1400 METRES), RUN ON SUNDAY, 22ND NOVEMBER,  2015.

Trainer S.K.Sunderji and Apprentice R.Ajinkya were questioned in the above connection. The trainer stated that his instructions to the Jockey were to sit mid-bunch, improve gradually and to do his best as the filly lacked early speed and even in Race No.103 run during the Pune Meeting 2015 where the filly won, she has raced in a similar manner.

To a specific question, Tr.Sunderji said that the filly would jump out and not show early speed, stay behind and then come on as the race progressed and in his opinion the filly has been adopting a similar pattern of late. To another question, he said that when the filly won at Pune, she jumped out and did not show any speed in the initial part and thereafter improved and won coming from behind. He said that she generally lies 3rd last or 2nd last but in the race in question she trailed, the reason for which could be best answered by the apprentice.

App.R.Ajinkya said that the filly did not show initial speed although he kept niggling at her and she was not responding to his urgings, therefore, he settled her and as the filly started gradually improving he got into her and rode out

Trainer S.K.Sunderji said that what the apprentice was trying to imply is that, as the filly had no initial speed he did not want to rush her fearing that if he did so, the filly may give up in the straight.

After viewing the race and hearing the submissions made by Trainer S.K.Sunderji and Apprentice R.Ajinkya and keeping in mind that the filly was at longer odds, no action was initiated in the matter beyond informing the trainer to maintain the running pattern since the Stipendiary Stewards will be keeping a close watch on the future runs of the filly.
