RACE NO.1(237) – THE WASHINGTON IRVINE PLATE (DIV.II):(About)1400 Metres– Runners - 9

At the start, CAESARS WIFE (Kavraj Singh, dr.4) jumped awkwardly outwards and at the same time TUSCANIA (Dashrath Singh, dr.6) jumped awkwardly inwards and converged upon PUNE WARRIORS (S Sunil, dr.5). Due to this incident, CAESARS WIFE was steadied and shifted in and hampered the running of MINSTREL SON (Zameer Sayyed, dr.3)

Trainer Magansingh P Jodha has been fined Rs.1,000/- for running his charge MINSTREL SON with bandages on both the hind legs without prior information.

Near 300 metres, TUSCANIA (Dashrath Singh) was observed to be in distress and was pulled up by the rider at about 100 metres from the winning post. The Sr.V.O. reported that the mare was observed to have broken a blood vessel and bleeding profusely through both the nostrils and mouth. The mare was loaded in the Horse Ambulance and sent to the Sampling Yard. Being a second time bleeder, the mare is not to race for the stipulated ban period of eight weeks and until passed fit by the Club’s V.O.

Trainer Mansoor Shah was questioned regarding the poor performance of TUSCANIA  despite the mare having broken a blood vessel. The Trainer stated that his instructions to the Jockey were to be in 3rd / 4th position, improve gradually and do his best. He added that TUSCANIA is a chronic bleeder and had bled after running in Race no 49 run on 8th December 2013. When questioned about the work given to the mare, Trainer Mansoor Shah stated that he had given her light work because she had a bleeding problem and also with this work he had found her better. It was put to the Trainer that the mare weighed 22 kgs more than the previous time and this increase was unacceptable since it was within a month. With regards to the chance he gave the mare in this race, the Trainer stated that if the mare had not bleed then she could have had a chance. The mare was kept under observation in Veterinary care. The Stipendiary Stewards will conduct further enquiry into the matter and submit a report shortly.

When pointed out regarding the two common horses, the Trainer stated that vis-à-vis AROMATICA, his horse STAR PRINCE had finished 2 ¼ lengths behind, whilst giving ½ kg weight to AROMATICA. In this race, AROMATICA carried 3 ½ kg more as no weight allowance was claimed and was worse-off as compared to STAR PRINCE. And vis-a-vis JEN’S GLORY, STAR PRINCE was 5 kg better as the Trainer of JEN’S GLORY had not claimed any allowance in this start.
