RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

On a request from Trainer Damodaran D.Pillai, permission was granted to Trainer Suresh Chavan to saddle his charge STARRIANO in the 1st race, at his (Trainer Damodaran D.Pillai’’s) risk and responsibility.

Permission was granted to Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha to saddle the charges of Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha viz. RAJPUTANA RIFLES (1st race) and CACTUS CASH & UMARKOT (7th race) at his (Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Hosidar Daji, permission was granted to Trainer Nina M.Lalvani to saddle his charge HAIL THE KING in the 6th race, at his (Trainer Hosidar Daji’’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(307) - THE  OSMAN CHOTANI PLATE: (About)1600 Metres.  Runners – 10

 

STALWART (R.Shelar) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Ivor Fernandes has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. 

 

Near 1500 meters, HOT PEPPER (T.S.Jodha) shifted in and went on to SHOWN (App S.J.Sunil) and then on to STALWART (R.Shelar). Jockey T.S.Jodha has been cautioned.

 

Jockey Hanumant Singh (WIND AND RAIN) has been fined Rs.3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

After the race, STARRIANO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, HOT PEPPER was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind coronet.

 

RACE NO.2(308) – THE ADLER DOUBLE STAKES: (About) 1600 Metres. Runners – 9

 

THE UNICORN (S.Zervan) was reluctant to be stalled and TOOFAN (P.Trevor) was restless in the stall. Trainers P.Shroff and Nina M.Lalvani have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

BETHPAGE (App.Santosh G) jumped out slow, losing about 5 lengths at the start. The explanation of the Apprentice that the filly was in her stalls for considerable time and had relaxed and therefore she had jumped out slow, was noted.

 

Dashrath Singh (ATOMIC) reported that his mount lugged-out during the race.  Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting the race to the gelding.

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (REPLICA) reported that he has used his whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount as a corrective measure since the filly lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, DAISHONIN was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ATOMIC was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(309) – THE KARL UMRIGAR TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 10

 

At the start, SILVANO (Kishore Kadam, dr.8) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to CAPTIVATE (A.Sandesh, dr.7), who in turn went on to AVANT GARDE (Neeraj Rawal, dr.6).

 

Passing 1000 metres, CAPTIVATE (A.Sandesh) leaned inwards due to which SHADOWFAX (C.S.Jodha) shifted in and hampered the running of CONTINENTAL (D.K.Ashish).

 

VELVET AMARI (P.Trevor) hung-out in the straight. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the filly to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a Mock race, before next accepting to race.

 

An objection was lodged by Jockey D.K.Ashish, rider of CONTINENTAL (Placed Second) against VELVET AMARI (P.Trevor, Placed First). The reason being, turning for home, VELVET AMARI took him out from 400 metres and bumped him, therefore he could not ride out and lost a certain race.

 

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards  and relying on their judgment, the Stewards upheld the objection and revised the order of placing of the race as under :

 

CONTINENTAL                   -               FIRST;                   SHADOWFAX                     -               THIRD;

VELVET AMARI                   -               SECOND;             AVANT GARDE                   -               FOURTH.

 

After the race, SHADOW FAX and VELVET AMARI were found to be sound. CONTINENTAL had lost its left fore plate.

 

RACE NO.4(310) – THE BAHRAIN TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres. Runners – 8

 

GABRIELLA (S.Zervan) commenced to lug out while negotiating the bend and soon on entering the straight hung-out sharply and drifted to the outer rails. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the filly to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a Mock race, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, GABRIELLA was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(311) – THE FOREST FANTASY DOUBLE STAKES:(About) 2000 Metres. Runners – 5

 

AL SHAMSHEER (Darren Williams) lost about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Jockey C.S.Jodha (ACE FANTASY) has been fined Rs.3,000/-  for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that after completion of the race, ACE FANTASY showed signs of restlessness whilst being led to the paddock. First Aid treatment was given at the paddock but the gelding collapsed and did not respond to the treatment and died.

 

The Stewards considered the above report and directed the Stipendiary Stewards to enquire into the matter and to submit a report.

 

After the race, AL SHAMSHEER was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(312) -THE  RAJCOOMAR GUJADHUR MEMORIAL TROPHY:(About) 1400 Metres. Runners– 11

 

At the start, SPEED KING (App.R.Ajinkya) jumped out awkwardly. BEYOND HORIZONS (Neeraj Rawal, dr.9) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to CHA CHA CHA (Darren Williams, dr.10), who went out on RAMESSES (D.K.Ashish, dr.11).

 

Near 1000 metres, FLANKER (App.S.Joseph) was tightened while racing on the inside of CENTAURUS (Kishore Kadam). As FLANKER lost position, HAIL THE KING (A.Sandesh) who was following, was steadied and lost position. 

 

Jockey A.Sandesh (HAIL THE KING) reported that his mount did not travel well during the race.

 

After the race, RAMESSES was observed to be sound, but having a cut injury at the right hind thigh. BARRINGO, HAIL THE KING and CHA CHA CHA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(313) - THE AHMED I.RAHIMTOOLA TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres.  Runners -14

 

At the start, MOUNTAIN SONG (Vikram Jodha) jumped out awkwardly and was steadied.

 

Soon after the start, CHASE THE ACE (P.Trevor) shifted in and made contact with UMARKOT (Kavraj Singh) on a couple of occasions. Jockey P.Trevor has been reprimanded.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2nd, 6th and 7th race,  viz. THE UNICORN, SPEED KING and SOOTHSAYER, and the special sample of VELVET AMARI (3rd race) and GABRIELLA (4th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : APPEAL FROM JOCKEY S.G.PRASAD AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS SUSPENDING HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE W.E.F. 18TH APRIL, 2015 TO 19TH APRIL, 2015 FOR CARELESS RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “ROYAL SAPPHIRE” IN RACE NO.287 – THE D. W. REID PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON 26TH MARCH, 2015 :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 5th April, 2015 considered appeal from Jockey S.G.Prasad in the above connection. The Stewards having considered all papers and proceedings before them and having heard Jockey S.G.Prasad / his Spokesman and having viewed the video of Race No.287 as also the filly’s previous races and having deliberated the matter, decided to partially allow his appeal and reduce the punishment to one race day i.e. his Jockey’s license shall now stand suspended for 18th April, 2015 for careless riding on his mount ROYAL SAPPHIRE.
