On a request from Trainer Janardhan permission was granted to Trainer Vinayak to saddle his charges BIG TIME GIRL and SCARFACE in the 1st and 2nd race respective, at his (Trainer Janardhan’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (239) – THE  COMMANCHE TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres, Runners–16

 

Passing 200 metres, SWISS BELLE (C.Rajendra) shifted out as the Jockey tried to keep the filly on an even keel and made contact with OCEAN OF FAITH (R.Hughes).

 

NUNCIO (Kishore Kadam) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

WATCH OUT (Satish Nayak) kept an erratic course in the straight.   Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

MONEY FLASH (C.Ruzaan) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer D.J.Surti has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, SWISS BELLE, WATCH OUT, DOUBLE DELITE & SECRET TALK  were found to be sound. SWISS BELLE had lost its left fore plate.

 

RACE NO.2 (240) –THE  STORM AGAIN TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres, Runners–7

 

At the start, GLOWING STAR ( App.M.A.Roushan) jumped out awkwardly and went  outwards on to STAR SEEKER (S.Zervan) who was tightened on to ALEXUS (P.Kamlesh) and was steadied and also caused SCARFACE (S.John) to travel wider. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that  SCARFACE was examined at the stables at 0915 hours on 6th March, 2011 and was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, ALEXUS was observed to have lost its right hind plate. STARSEEKER was found to be sound

 

RACE NO.3 (241) – THE JAPAN CUP: (About) 1000 Metres, Runners – 9

 

HIGHLAND MUSIC (R.Hughes) fly jumped out of the gate.

 

After the race, Jockey R.Hughes (HIGHLAND MUSIC) reported that as the start was effected his mount reared up due to which his head hit on the top bar and his leg scrapped the Gates and he was dazed a bit and therefore he could not ride out.

 

Jockey Akash Agarwal (NATIONAL GLORY) has been fined Rs.2000/- for shifting in before the Red Marker.

 

Near 600 meters, SAINTS N SINNERS (App.A.Sandesh) shifted out  due to the bend and was steadied off the heels of OCEAN WISH (Imran Chisty).

 

CAPE FERRET (Stephane Pasquier) hung out during the race. Trainer Shyam S. Habbu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race HIGHLAND MUSIC & CAPE FERRAT were found to be sound. HIGHLAND MUSIC had an abrasion at the right stifle.

 

RACE NO.4 (242)  – THE  ELUSIVE PIMPERNEL TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metrrs, Runners - 19

 

After Declaration, Trainer Nana Raghunath informed that Jockey S.A. De Sousa had declined to ride HURRICANE BIRD, as such he requested for a change of Jockey.In view of the above a change of rider was permitted on HURRICANE BIRD from Jockey S.A. De Sousa to Jockey P.S.Chouhan.  After enquiring from all concerned, Trainer Nana Raghunath has been fined Rs.3000/- for declaring a Jockey without his concent.

 

Jockeys Harish (ARABIAN PRIDE) and D.K.Ashish (PRINCE CYRUS) have been fined Rs. 2000/- each for shifting in before the Red Marker.

 

Jockey R.Hughes (OCEAN QUEEN) reported that his mount lugged out throughout the race. Tainer Vinayak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Near 1000 metres, BLUE MELLON (K.P.G.Appu) lugged out and made contact with ROYAL COMPANION (Y.S.Srinath).

 

After the race, PRINCE LOCHINVA & OCEAN QUEEN were found to be sound. BOLD DANCER had a broken upper tooth.

 

RACE NO.5 (243)  – THE  WESTERN INDIA BOOKMAKERS’ ASSOCIATION MILLION:  (About) 1600 Metres - Runners –7

 

Jockey P.A.Culhane (STAR OF GIBRALTAR) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

After the race, JAVO & STAR OF GIBRALTAR were found to be sound. STAR OF GIBRALTAR had lost its left fore plate.

VOYAGER (B.Prakash) was placed fifth and JAVO (Stephane Pasquier) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO.6 (244) – THE OASIS STAR SPRINTERS’ CUP (GR.1): (About) 1200 Metres, Runners- 14

 

Jockey Imran Chisty (ATTILA) has been fined Rs.2000/- for improper use of the whip on his mount wherein he had persisted with the use of the whip with his right hand as his mount drifted outwards. 

 

After the race, FOREST FLAIR was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, WEIZHOU was observed to have an abrasion behind both hind fetlocks. CAPTIVATING was found to be sound.

 

ELOISE (Stephane Pasquier) was placed fifth and SUCCESSOR (M.A.Gallagher) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO.7 (245)  – THE PRIVILEGE INDUSTRIES STAYERS’ CUP (GR.1): (About) 3000 Metres,  Runners – 11

 

REZOOM (M.A.Gallagher, dr.4) shifted out after an awkward jump and made contact with THE LEADER (P.B.Beggy).

 

Jockey M.A.Gallagher (REZOOM) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to drift out while negotiating the bend and forcing THE LEADER (P.B. Beggy) to travel wide and later going across the said horse.

 

Jockey C.D.Hayes (ARABIAN PRINCE) has been cautioned for raising a Victory sign before passing the Post.

 

SUNLIGHT (R.Hughes) was placed fifth and REZOOM (M.A.Gallagher) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO.8 (246) – THE SOUTHERN EMPIRE TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres, Runners –13

 

HEAVENLY PRIZE (App.P.Trevor) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer  S.K.Sunderji has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice before next accepting to race.

After the race, GOLDEN CREEK was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race,  SILK CUT was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

The urine sample of winner of  the  2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th & 7th race viz. SEXY EYES, NATIONAL GLORY, NEARNESS OF YOU, ATTILA & ARABIAN PRINCE as also that of MISHRI & MAJESTIC FORCE (5th race), CELESTIAL WAY, FOREST FLAIR  & WEIZHOU (6th race) and CABRIOLET, VIJAYS ANGEL & NATIVE KNIGHT (7th race) and the special sample of STARRY GLOW (4th race) and GOLDEN CREEK & SILK CUT (8th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

SUBJECT : CONFIRMATORY ANALYSIS REPORT IN RESPECT OF ch g “AMARETTO” (PLACED 2ND) IN RACE NO.158 – THE GOOL S.POONAWALLA MILLION (GR.3) RUN ON SUNDAY, 23RD JANUARY, 2011:

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Wednesday, 2nd March, 2011 interviewed Tr.C.D.Katrak regarding the Confirmatory Analysis Report dated 27th February, 2011 from Equine Forensic Unit, Dubai, in respect of the sample of urine taken from AMARETTO (Placed 2nd) in Race No.158 – The Gool S.Poonawalla Million (Gr.3) run on Sunday, 23rdJanuary, 2011,  which read as under :-

 

“The analysis has confirmed the presence of BOLDENONE in this sample.”

 

A copy of the above report was handed over to Tr.C.D.Katrak and he was asked to continue his own enquiries and to lead evidence, if any, to prove mitigating circumstances, within 15 days and to also attend the enquiry to be held by the Stipendiary Stewards and the Sr.Veterinary Officer of the Club, as and when he would be required to.

 

Further, as per the Medication Rules,  the Stewards of the Club decided to disqualify AMARETTO (Placed 2nd) in Race No.158 – The Gool S.Poonawalla Million (Gr.3) run on Sunday, 23rd January, 2011, and to revise the order of placing of the above race as under :-

ANIL BAANDAL – ENQUIRY IN TO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “STARLITE EXPRESS” IN RACE NO 27 – THE MANGAL PLATE – RUN ON 3RD AUAGUST 2008 – SUSPENSION OF LICENSE W.E.F. 6TH MARCH 2009 TILL THE END OF THE MUMBAI MEETING 2008/ 2009 AND THEREAFTER NOT TO GRANT HIM A JOCKEY’S LICENSE IF HE APPLIED FOR ONE UP TO AND INCLUSIVE OF 5TH MARCH 2014 FOR BEING GUILTY OF GIVING MISLEADING EVIDENCE AND ABETTING MALPRACTICE BY JOCKEY AKASH AGARWAL IN NOT ALLOWING HIS MOUNT “STARLITE EXPRESS” TO RUN ON ITS MERITS IN RACE NO 27:

 

The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 5th March 2011 considered Mercy Petition dated 4th February 2011 from Mr. Anil Baandal. The Board of Appeal having studied all documents and papers that were submitted and having deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds, decided to reject the Mercy Petition.
