RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 6 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 10 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 12 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer Narendra Lagad, permission was granted to Trainer M.K.Jadhav to saddle his charges BRAVE & FALCONETTE (4th race), MAJESTIC WARRIOR (7th race) and JULIO CESARO & SKYSURFER (8th race), at his own (Trainer Narendra Lagad’s) risk and responsibility.
RACE NO.1(73) –THE POLISH PATRIOT PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 7
At the start, SPLASH (Neeraj Rawal, dr.6) and SO SPLENDID (Amyn Merchant, dr.7) jumped outwards and inwards respectively and made contact.
Approaching the 1400 metres, ONE FOR THE GLORY (Kishore Kadam) shifted in thereby tightening RETAINED ASSET (App. Santosh G.) and POLARIS (Bhawani Singh), due to which POLARIS had to be checked and dropped back. On being questioned after the race, Jockey Kishore Kadam said that his mount was running green throughout the race.
Approaching the 300 metres, SPLASH (Neeraj Rawal) who was racing between POLARIS (Bhawani Singh) and SO SPLENDID (Amyn Merchant) was tightened for room and had to be steadied.
After the race, ONE FOR THE GLORY was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, SPLASH and SO SPLENDID were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.2(74) – THE KARL UMRIGAR TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 6
At the request of Trainer M. K. Jadhav, MAJOR GENERAL, was examined at 1745 hours on 03/01/2020 and found to be sore by the left hind leg, as such the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
Passing the 300 metres, LIVE BY NIGHT (Nicky Mackay) reacted differently to the whip and veered inwards thereby tightening MOON RIVER (N. S. Parmar) along the rails, forcing Jockey N. S. Parmar to check his mount and drop back. Trainer S. K. Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, LIVE BY NIGHT and RUBIK STAR were trotted and found to be sound. LIVE BY NIGHT had a wolf tooth on the left side.
RACE NO.3(75) – THE HOMI MODY TROPHY: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 5
At the start, TRULY EPIC (C. S. Jodha) jumped out awkwardly throwing its head.
After the race, FRIVOLOUS was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.4(76) – THE PRADEEP VIJAYAKAR TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres –Runners- 9
On arrival at the start, MALAVIKA (N. S. Parmar) was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was certified fit to race.
Approaching the 300 metres, WESTEROS (P. S. Chouhan) leaned inwards on to HIGHLAND WOODS (Neeraj Rawal) forcing it to be checked and change course. Jockey P. S. Chouhan has been cautioned.
After the race, FALCONETTE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, MALAVIKA was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.5(77) – THE R.M. MANDAL TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres –Runners- 9
Trainer Vinesh has been fined Rs.3,000/- for putting in late declaration in respect of his charge BROTHERSOFTHEWIND.
Approaching 300 metres, BE FRANK (C. S. Jodha) shifted out thereby bumping and forcing SACHERTORTE (Y. S. Srinath) outwards, who in turn shifted out and made contact with CUPIDO (App. H. Zeeshan). Jockey C. S. Jodha has been fined Rs. 3,000/-.
Approaching 200 metres, ETERNAL DANCER (N. S. Parmar) shifted in and went across TRANSFORM (P. S. Chouhan) causing the latter to be steadied. After the race Jockey N. S. Parmar reported that his mount hung-in in the straight despite his efforts. Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.
The Sr. V.O. reported that after returning from the race, SACHERTORTE showed signs of distress. After cold water hosing and First Aid treatment the gelding recovered and was sent to the stables. The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, BE FRANK and CUPIDO were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.6(78) – THE HOMAI AND NUSLY PUDUMJEE MILLION : (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 6
After being stalled, COSTA BRAVA (S. Zervan) kicked the rear gates, as such the gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O who certified him fit to race.
At the start, AWESOME ONE (Y. S. Srinath, dr.3) jumped outwards on to FLYING VISIT (A. Sandesh, dr.4).
After the race Jockey A. Sandesh (FLYING VISIT) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight despite his efforts. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
Passing the 300 metres, COSTA BRAVA (S. Zervan) was denied a clear passage due to which the Jockey had to change course and shift in.
After the race, PURE ZINC was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The horse has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, COSTA BRAVA was trotted and found to be sound. The gelding had a gum injury.
RACE NO.7(79) – THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 6
At the start, EAGLEINTHESKY (Leigh Roche, dr.4) jumped inwards and went across FENCING (S. S. Baria, dr.3) who was marginally slow to begin.
Passing the 300 metres, GOLDEN ERA (A. Sandesh) shifted out under urgings and carried FENCING (S. S. Baria) outwards. Thereafter, FENCING shifted in under use of the whip and brushed the haunches of GOLDEN ERA thereby unbalancing itself. After questioning, Jockey A. Sandesh has been fined Rs. 3,000/-.
After the race, FENCING was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, BENEVOLENCE was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.8(80) – THE PRADEEP VIJAYAKAR TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 10
At the request of Jockey Neeraj Rawal the saddle on its mount HIGHLAND LASS was adjusted on arrival at the start.
CAESAR (S. J. Sunil) jumped out and tried to whip around. Tr. Nosher Cama has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Approaching the 800 metres, SLAM DUNK (App. D. R. Shubham) shifted in and went across HIGHLAND LASS (Neeraj Rawal) and tightened JULIO CESARO (C. S. Jodha) along the rails who had to be checked. App. D. R. Shubham has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
In the final stages of the race, HIGHLAND LASS (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in and went across DANCING LANCES (Akshay Gaikwad) who had to be checked. After questioning, Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs. 3,000/-.
After the race Jockey S. J. Sunil (CAESAR) reported that his mount jumped outwards and had to be steadied.
After the race, DANCING LANCES and SKYSURFER were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 5th, and 7th race viz. ITHACA, DUMAS, and GOLDEN ERA, and the blood and urine sample of FLYING VISIT (6th race), and the special sample of UNTITLED (4th race) and COSTA BRAVA (6th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : RACE NO.71 – THE M.D.MEHTA TROPHY RUN ON 2nd JANUARY, 2020:
The Equine Hospital reported that MARVIN had injury to both eyes (sore).

RE : ENQUIRY INTO – JOCKEY S. S. BARIA FAILING TO WEIGH-IN ON “SAFFRON FLOWER” (PLACED FIFTH) IN RACE NO.65 – THE CARDINAL PLATE RUN ON SUNDAY, 29th DECEMBER, 2019:
Jockey S. S. Baria was questioned by the Stipendiary Stewards on 3rd January, 2020 in the above connection and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, his Jockey’s licence has been suspended for 2 Race Days i.e. from 24th January, 2020 to 1st February, 2020 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race) for failing to weigh-in on SAFFRON FLOWER in the above race.
