RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 3 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

Permission was granted to Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha to saddle the charges of Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha viz. BONOBO, YODHA SHAKTI, CACTUS CASH & MISSFIELD in the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th race respectively, at his (Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer C.D.Katrak, permission was granted to Trainer Adil Dajee to saddle his charges GOLDEN GLORY & BELLA TRAVIATA in the 5th & 6th race respectively, at his (Trainer C.D.Katrak’s) risk and responsibility.

 

On a request from Trainer Janardhan, permission was granted to Trainer Vinesh to saddle his charge CARUSO in the 8th race, at his (Trainer Janardhan’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(38) – THE  AU PANACHE PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 5

 

Soon after the start, CUMBRE VIEJA (I.Pasha) drifted outwards, losing ground.

 

Jockeys Darren Williams (WORD OF HONOUR) and Kishore Kadam (LEONTINE) have been fined Rs.1000/- each for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on their respective mount.

 

After the race, WORD OF HONOUR and PLATED were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(39) – THE FETCHMEFORTUNE PLATE: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners - 4

 

DANSE DEBONAIRE (Dashrath Singh) lugged out in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding. 

 

DIXIE DELIGHT (P.Trevor) and DOUBLE OR QUITS (Neeraj Rawal) leaned outwards in the straight. Trainers Imtiaz A.Sait and Nirad Karanjawala have been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race their respective charge. 

 

After the race, DANSE DEBONAIRE and DOUBLE OR QUITS were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(40)  – THE FREE RADICAL PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 8

 

At the start, FLYNN (D.K.Ashish) drifted out for a few strides and went on to PLAY FAIR (App.Yash Narredu), who went across the running of TRUMP TOWER (S.Sameer).

 

Jockey D.K.Ashish (FLYNN) has been fined Rs.3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. Further, he has been fined Rs.1000/- for improper use of the whip, wherein he has persisted with the use of the whip in his right hand while his mount shifted out.

 

Jockey Colm O’Donoghue (OCEAN DREAM) was questioned with regard to the poor performance of his mount. He stated that his instructions were to be well up if the pace was fast and to be in front if the pace was slow. He added that the pace was decent and he was well up and was able to tuck the filly behind FLYNN. He opined that the filly needed a longer trip and did not need the Blinkers either. He further added that the filly will win her race in time and that she is of limited ability. The explanation was noted.

 

After the race, OCEAN DREAM was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(41) – THE MAYOR’S TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners -  4

 

CACTUS CASH (App.D.S.Daman) hung in throughout the race. Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, TOP COMMANDER was found to be sound, but having an abrasion at the right hind fetlock. SHINING PATH was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(42) – THE  PROLETARIAN PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 11

 

WINDSOR (V.Chandrakant) lost about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, SNOW KING (S.G.Prasad, dr.4) jumped out awkwardly and went on to GOLDEN GLORY (S.Sunil, dr.5) who in turn shifted out and went on to KATNISS (App.S.Joseph, dr.6).

 

STARRIANO (App.G.Amit) lugged in throughout the race and passing 200 metres, the gelding shifted in and inconvenienced to SEEN IT ALL (Vikram Jodha). STARRIAANO was inconvenienced for a few strides whilst racing behind KATNISS (App.S.Joseph). The Sr.V.O. was requested to examine STARRIANO and he reported that STARRIANO was examined at the stables in the morning on 05/12/2014 and was found to be sound, but having a wolf tooth on the left side. Trainer Damodaran D.Pillai has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, SNOW KING was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind coronet. WINDSOR, GOLDEN GLORY and KATNISS (examined on 05/12/2014), were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(43) – THE  FREE RADICAL PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 8

 

Tr.S.S.Shah has been fined Rs.1,000/- for presenting his charge OCEANA with Blinkers, an equipment for which no prior permission was obtained. The filly ran without Blinkers. 

 

In the concluding stages of the race ALDERLEY EDGE (App.Yash Narredu) shifted in, due to BELLA TRAVIATA (R.Shelar) shifted in and inconvenienced PURE BLISS (Vikram Jodha).

 

After the race, SPANISH SAGA was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(44)– THE  FAIR ALWAYS PLATE (DIV.II):(About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  19

 

At the request of Jockey D.K.Ashish, the saddle on his mount SPEAR OF TRIUM was adjusted at the starting gate. 

 

After being stalled, GASCONY (S.Zervan) sat on its haunches and whilst being taken out of the gate, the filly got loose and bolted towards the 1600 metres mark, as such, the field was off loaded. Thereafter, GASCONY was caught and brought back and when reloaded, the filly continued to play up and jammed herself behind one of the rear flaps which gave way due to the filly leaning heavily on it. Therefore, GASCONY was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainer B.Prakash has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Trainer H.J.Antia has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using Bandages on the fore fore-legs of his charge MOUNTAIN WARRIOR, without obtaining permission.

 

Jockey P.Trevor (CHASE THE ACE, dr.19) has been fined Rs.3,000/- for cutting across the field soon after the start and in the process going across the entire field.

 

Soon after the start, EMBER LADY (C.S.Jodha) was tightened for room while racing on the inside of FAJR (S.G.Prasad).

 

Passing 400 metres, MR MORRISON (V.Chandrakant) and MOUNTAIN WARRIOR (App.S.J.Sunil) made contact with each other.

 

EMBER LADY (C.S.Jodha) was held up for a run in last 150 metres due to lack of room and then abruptly shifted out and jostled with CON MAN (Akash Agarwal).

 

Jockey Dashrath Singh (ROYAL SAPPHIRE) reported that his mount hung in throughout the race. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Jockey S.Sunil (TEMPEST) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit. Since the filly lugged-in in the straight and the whip was used as a corrective measure, no action has been initiated against the Jockey. However, Trainer Bezan Chenoy has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

App.G.Amit (MOUNTAIN TREASURE) reported that his mount was uncomfortable throughout the race and in the final furlong he did not ride his mount. The Sr.V.O. was requested to examine the gelding and he reported that MOUNTAIN TREASURE was examined at the stables in the morning on 05/12/2014 and was found to be sound.

 

CONMAN (Akash Agarwal) ran erratic in the straight and was held up for a run in the final stages of the races.

 

After the race, GASCONY was observed to have an abrasion at the left hip and ARMEL had a gum injury. ROYAL SAPPHIRE, EARTH ORBIT, TEMPEST, CON MAN and MOUNTAIN WARRIOR, were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(45)– THE  SIR CHARLES FORBES TROPHY:(About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  15

 

At the start, ULTRASONIC (Colm O’Donoghue, dr.1) jumped awkwardly outwards and caused chain reaction in which ICE SKATES (S.G.Prasad, dr.2), PROVIDENCE (C.S.Jodha, dr.3), DOC HOLIDAY (App.Bhawani Singh, dr.4) and  BARRINGO (R.Shelar, dr.5) shifted outwards. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

At the start, BOMBARDIER (Vikram Jodha, dr.8) and MONZA (App.D.S.Daman, dr.7) jumped awkwardly inwards and outwards and made contact with each other.

 

Passing 1000 metres, MAUNA KEA (Sandeep Jadhav) and FORTUNE HUNTER (S.Mosin) were tightened for room and lost position.

 

PROVIDENCE (C.S.Jodha) did not get a clear run between 400 metres and 300 metres due to lack of room and had to shift wide out to make its bid.

 

IN THE LIMELIGHT (App.S.J.Sunil) lugged out in the straight, due to which ULTRASONIC (Colm O’Donoghue), who was behind that horse, was hampered for room in the final stages of the race. Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

CARUSO (S.Zervan) lugged in for a brief period in the early part of the straight. Trainer Janardhan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, ULTRASONIC was found to be sound, but having an abrasion at the right shoulder and right thigh region. IN THE LIMELIGHT and CARUSO were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9(46)– THE  FAIR ALWAYS PLATE (DIV.I):(About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  20

 

At the request of Jockey P.Trevor, the saddle on his mount TINOGONA was adjusted at the starting gate. 

 

Soon on entering the straight, QUIZICAL (Suraj Narredu) shifted out and went on to TAHRIR (F.Irani), who in turn went on to PASSION PRINCE (J.Chinoy).

 

Passing 200 metres, MOUNTAIN QUEEN (Sandeep Jadhav) was observed to be in distress and stopped galloping abruptly. As the mare was pulled up, RESILIENT (App.S.J.Sunil) who was racing on the inside of MOUNTAIN QUEEN, was also pulled up.

Jockey R.Shelar (GLORIOUS OPINION) reported the loss of whip near 200 metres.

 Jockey F.Irani (TAHRIR) has been cautioned for feeble riding on his mount in the straight.

The Sr.V.O. reported that MOUNTAIN QUEEN stopped at about 100 metres from the winning post. On examination, the mare was observed to have broken her left fore fetlock. After consent of the Trainer, MOUNTAIN QUEEN was euthanized on humane grounds.

The post race urine sample of the winner of the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th race, viz. LEONTINE, MILLENIUM FALCON, DOUBLE DIAMOND and CHASE THE ACE, and the special sample of OCEAN DREAM (3rd race), CON MAN and SAVANNAH SOUND (7th race), EMPEROR OF FRANCE (8th race) and TAHRIR (9th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ADDITIONAL REPORTS:

 

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “APACHE” IN RACE NO.195 – THE N.K.PUDUMJEE TROPHY (DIV.II) RUN ON SATURDAY, 11TH OCTOBER, 2014 :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 27th November, 2014 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry. The Stewards interviewed Trainer P.Shroff and Jockey Darren Williams. Having considered all papers and proceedings before them and having viewed the video recording of Race No.195, the Stewards were not entirely satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Darren Williams. However, keeping in mind the history of this horse of hanging out badly in the race, the Stewards decided not to initiate any action against him in the matter but he was cautioned to be more careful in the future.
