RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR / BELOW EXPECTATION PERFORMANCE OF “FRIVOLOUS” (DRAWN-3) IN RACE NO.10 – THE ALGECIRAS PLATE (1600 METRES) RUN ON 24th NOVEMBER, 2016:
Trainer M. Narredu was questioned in the above connection. He said that FRIVOLOUS had won one race for Maiden 3-year-olds during the just concluded Pune Meeting and he had high expectations from this horse. He said that this was only the second run of the horse in Race No.10 and he was running in open Class-III but he had fancied the horse to win and had instructed Jockey Suraj Narredu to jump and give the horse a chance and to ride his own race and to do his best in the straight. The video of the race was viewed and when asked for his observation, Tr. M. Narredu said that the horse took an awkward jump and tried to go out and the Jockey corrected the horse and settled him behind, gradually improved his position and rode him out in the straight but the horse did not perform as expected. He said that he was satisfied with the Jockey’s riding.
Having heard the submissions made and viewing the video of the race in question as also the horse’s previous run i.e. Race No.189 run during the Pune Meeting 2016, the explanation tendered by Trainer M. Narredu was noted for future reference.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR / BELOW EXPECTATION PERFORMANCE OF “ZINFANDELLE” (DRAWN-6) IN RACE NO.13 – THE GRAND PASSION PLATE (1400 METRES) RUN ON 24th NOVEMBER, 2016:
Trainer P. Shroff was questioned in the above connection. He said that he had instructed Jockey P. Trevor to take a jump and sit in 2nd/3rd/4th position wherever he was comfortable and to do his best in the straight. The video of the race was viewed and when asked for his observation, he said that he was disappointed with the filly in general, however, she had not shown anything special and did not deserve to run as a favourite in the first place. Trainer P. Shroff was informed that the filly may have been fancied in this poor set of horses as she may have worked well. Also, there was one common horse, i.e. the winner, LUCAS, who had previously finished behind ZINFINDALLE in Race No.97 over 1200 metres. Trainer P. Shroff reiterated that ZINFANDELLE was not a great filly and LUCAS was a better horse.
Having heard the submissions made and viewing the video of the race in question as also the horse’s previous run i.e. Race No.97 run during the Pune Meeting 2016, the explanation tendered by Trainer P. Shroff was noted for future reference.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR / BELOW EXPECTATION PERFORMANCE OF “COMIC TIMING” (DRAWN-7) IN RACE NO.21 – THE M.H.AHMEDBHOY TROPHY (1800 METRES) RUN ON 27th NOVEMBER, 2016:
Trainer S. Waheed was questioned in the above connection. He said that COMIC TIMING had run a close third to SKY MINE over 1600 metres in her previous run during the Pune Meeting 2016 and he had fancied the filly in this 1800 metres race and had instructed Jockey S. Zervan to sit last, start improving his position from the 5 furlongs and to do his best in the straight. The video of the race was viewed and when asked for his observation, Trainer S. Waheed said that after the race the Jockey had informed him that the filly was very keen and hence he was not able to sit last as instructed. He said that the Jockey had ridden out the horse and done his best and he was satisfied with the riding. To a specific question, Tr. S. Waheed said that the filly weighed 435 kg. when she last raced in Race No.192 at Pune and in the race in question, it was brought to his attention that the filly weighed 412 kg, however, he had informed the person concerned that probably there was an error in recording the weight since he had checked her weight a day before and she was 418 kg. He said that the filly had lost weight after shifting to Mumbai. He reiterated that he had fancied the filly and the owners had plans to race her at Calcutta.
Having heard the submissions made and viewing the video of the race in question as also the filly’s previous run i.e. Race No.192 run during the Pune Meeting 2016, the explanation tendered by Trainer S. Waheed was noted for future reference.
