RACE DAY REPORTS

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED FROM 1000 METRES TILL THE WINNING POST, WIDTH ABOUT 1.5 METRES.

 

RACE NO.1 (21) – THE AGNI PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – 8 Runners

 

At the start, FANTASTIC KINGDOM (S.Zervan, dr.7) jumped awkwardly outwards and jostled with SOLID ROCK (A.M.Tograllu, dr.8).

Passing 800 metres, FANTASTIC KINGDOM (S.Zervan) shifted inwards and tightened ARABIAN CHIEF (T.S.Jodha) for room, who, while being steadied, dropped back and inconvenienced SOLID ROCK (A.M.Tograllu). Jockey S.Zervan has been fined Rs.1000/-.

 

The saddle on GOLDEN KINGDOM was observed to have slipped back during the race, as such, Trainer S.Mangalorkar has been fined Rs.2000/-.

 

An Enquiry has been initiated into the comparative performance of BLUSH and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, ARSHAVIN was found to be sore by the left fore leg.  The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, CUBA and ARABIAN CHIEF were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (22) – THE GAEA PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – 5 Runners

 

At the request of Trainer S.K.Sunderji, ATLANTIC STAR was examined at 1015 hours on 04/08/2012 (Race day)  and found to have an injury on the left fore, above fetlock with painful swelling and was sore by left fore leg., as such, the mare was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The mare has to be passed fit to race by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

After the race, MONEY FOR NOTHIN was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(23)  – THE  AGNI PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners

 

While negotiating the bend, STUNNING THUNDER (S.Sunil) appeared to be in distress and was pulled up some distance away from the Winning Post. The horse also stumbled and brushed the railing. After first aid treatment the gelding was kept under observation  at the saddling enclosure. The gelding was further examined extensively at the Club’s Equine Hospital at about 5.00 p.m. and was diagnosed to be having internal hemorrhage. Despite all the necessary medication the bleeding could not be controlled, as such the gelding was euthanized on humane  grounds at  about 9.00 .m. after consent from the Trainer.

 

ASHWA PARWEZ (C.S.Jodha) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Subhag Singh has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi (SPEED UP) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift ground outwards under the use of the whip in the straight.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of CLASSIC RULER and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, CLASSIC RULER and SPEED UP were both observed to have lost their left fore plate and GATRAVAT was observed to have a bruise at the withers.  CLASSIC RULER and ASHWA PARWEZ were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4 (24) – THE  STAR OF THE SEASON PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – 4 Runners

 

Jockey C.Rajendra (BLUE ACE) reported that his mount lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

Jockey A.Sandesh (CAPRIOLE) reported that his mount lugged-in in thee final stages of the race. Trainer S.K.Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, BLUE ACE and ICON were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(25) – THE A.J.WADIA PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 8 Runners

 

HELEN (Neeraj Rawal) was fractious and reluctant to be stalled, as such, the filly was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, JACQUELINE SMILE (A.Ashhad Asbar, dr.4) was converged upon when MALADASUN (Kavraj Singh, dr.3) jumped awkwardly outwards and at the same time AFLAME (P.Trevor, dr.5) jumped awkwardly inwards.

 

Approaching 200 metres, SCARAMOUCHE (Akash Agarwal) shifted inwards and went across JACQUELINE SMILE (A.Ashhad Asbar). Jockey Akash Agarwal has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift ground.

 

Jockey R.Biramne (SMART HUNTER) has been severely reprimanded for failing to ride out his mount in the straight.

 

After the race, MALADASUN was observed to have lost its right fore plate. SMART HUNTER and MUMBAI KING were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 (26) – THE A.J.WADIA PLATE (DIV.I) (About) 1000 Metres – 9 Runners

 

SPIRIT OF ECSTASY (Neeraj Rawal)  was fractious and restless in the stall. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, JOSEPHINE (A.Sandesh) tried to veer to the outside, losing ground.

 

Near 700 metres, FESTIVAL NIGHT (Akshay) shifted in and caused interference to CAPITANO (P.Trevor). Jockey Akshay has been fined Rs.3000/-.

Jockey C.Rajendra (BRAVE VISION) has been fined Rs.3000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit.

 

After the race, SPIRIT OF ECSTASY was found to be sound but having a bruise at the left upper eye lid.  MOUNTAIN QUEEN and GIBRAN were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(27)  – THE  AUGUST HANDICAP: (About) 1400 Metres – 11 Runners

 

GATES OF HEAVEN (S.S.Baria) dropped the rider on the way to the start and bolted.  The filly was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order.

 

Soon after the start, MIGHTY KING (Shrikant Kamble) shifted in and took the running of IZARRA (Vikram Jodha) who clipped the hind heels of MIGHTY KING and stumbled. Jockey Shrikant Kamble has been fined Rs.3000/-. 

 

Approaching 400 metres, SONG DYNASTY (C.S.Jodha) was inconvenienced when tightened for room.

 

After the race, SONG DYNASTY and QUID PRO QUO were both observed to have a cut injury at the right hind coronet. GATES OF HEAVEN and IZARRA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8 (28) – THE  ISMAIL KHAN PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – 10 Runners

 

 BLUE MELLON was permitted to be withdrawn on compassionate grounds.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that whilst saddling, DISTANT PROMISE (C.Rajendra) played up in the stall in the saddling enclosure and got stuck on either side of partition wall thereby sustaining injuries on both the stifles, hip and abdomen. As such, DISTANT PROMISE was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The trainer is required to obtain a Fitness Certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, REMNISCING (M.A.Roushan) jumped out awkwardly outwards and went on to IBIS (P.Trevor).

 

At the start, TELL ME MORE (Shrikant Kamble) reared up.

 

Jockey Shrikant Kamble (TELL ME MORE) has been fined Rs.3000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit.

 

After the race, CHINGARI, SECRET MAGIC and LAURUS PRIDE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9 (29) –  THE ALBERTINI PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – 10 Runners

 

At the start, TALK OF THE TOWN (Amyn Merchant) tried to rear up and threw its head around.

 

At the start, BORDERLINE (C.S.Jodha) lugged out and took PHOSPHOR (P.Trevor) outwards. Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Approaching 800 metres, MOONSCAPE (Imran Chisty) was tightened for room and steadied when VISIONIST (A.Sandesh) shifted inwards.

 

Approaching 400, FOREST LEGION (K.Deepesh) shifted in under use of the whip and went across MOONSCAPE (Imran Chisty). Jockey K.Deepesh reprimanded.

 

While entering the straight, STRINGSOFMYHEART (App. Prabhu Naidu) shifted out and bumped FOREST LEGION (K.Deepesh) who was on his outside thereby unbalancing both horses in the process. App.Prabhu Naidu has been fined Rs.2000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (BLUE SKY) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

After the race, BLUE SKY was observed to have a cut injury at the left fore pastern. TALK OF THE TOWN, SCORCH, PHOSPHOR and FOREST LEGION were found to be sound.

 

The post race urine sample of the winners of the 2nd, 6th and 8th race viz.  STAR MOUNTAIN, BRAVE VISION and LEGENDS ORDER and the special sample of  SOLID ROCK (1st race) and BLUE ACE (4th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE: RACE NO – 19 – THE VICTORIA FALLS PLATE (DIV – I) – RUN ON 27TH JULY 2012 – DOUBLE DECLARATION OF JOCKEY P TREVOR

 

The Jockey P.Trevor was declared to ride two horses in the same race by Trainers Dallas Todywalla and Narendra Lagad on SERENA and TITLEIST respectively. After enquiring, Trainer Narendra Lagad has been fined Rs.1000/- for declaring Jockey P.Trevor without his consent.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “GOLDEN SPURS” IN RACE NO.208 – THE KLAIRON GOLD PLATE (DIV.I) RUN ON 16TH FEBRUARY, 2012 :

 

The Stewards at their meeting held on Saturday, 4th August, 2012 interviewed Trainer  H.J.Antia and Jockey T.Atul in the above connection. Having heard the submissions made and having viewed the video recording of Race No.208, the Stewards held Jockey T.Atul guilty of not doing his best on GOLDEN SPURS in the above race. The Stewards were also not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer H.J.Antia and held the view that the Jockey would not have ridden in this manner unless he had the Trainer’s tacit approval, therefore, they decided to fine him a sum of Rs.25,000/- and to severely caution him for the future.  As for Jockey T.Atul, the Stewards took a lenient view against him and instead of suspending his Jockey’s license, they decided to only caution him for the future.

RE : COMPLAINT AGAINST MR.S.SHAIKH FOR ILLEGALLY OCCUPYING CLUB’S STABLES WHICH WERE NOT ALLOTTED TO HIM AT THE PUNE RACE COURSE AND KEEPING HIS HORSES IN UNHYGENIC CONDITION :

 

The Stewards at their meeting held on Saturday, 4th August, 2012 interviewed Mr.S.Shaikh in the above connection and having heard the submissions made by him, the Stewards  were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of illegally occupying Club’s stables which were not allotted to him at the Pune Race Course and refusing to vacate the said stables when asked to do so. Further, the Stewards also held him guilty of keeping his horses in very unhygienic conditions and insufficient bedding. Therefore, the Stewards decided to fine him a sum of Rs.1,00,000/- and to severely caution him for the future.

KATRAK – CASE REMANDED BACK TO THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB BY THE BOARD OF APPEAL – PUNISHMENT IMPOSED ON HIM BY THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB IN RESPECT OF 1) THE POSITIVE REPORT IN RESPECT OF b g “STAR FUTURE” (PLACED 2ND) IN RACE NO.71 – THE CASINO ROYALE INDIAN 2000 GUINEAS (GR.1) RUN ON SUNDAY, 19TH DECEMBER, 2010  AND 2) POSITIVE REPORT IN RESPECT OF ch g “AMARETTO” (PLACED 2ND) IN RACE NO.158 – THE GOOL S.POONAWALLA MILLION (GR.3) RUN ON SUNDAY, 23RD JANUARY, 2011

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 4th August, informed Trainer C.D.Katrak that the Club had received a report from the Government Analyst, Drug Control Laboratory, Maharashtra State, Bandra (East), Mumbai of the feed supplements Equitop Myoplast and Equitop Pronutrin which were seized from the Club, contained 1.98 micro grams per kg of Boldenone and 0.77 micro grams per kg of Boldenone respectively.

 

Trainer C.D.Katrak was informed that despite these findings, the Stewards affirm the correctness of their action in the matter of suspension of his Trainer’s licence which was arrived at after due, full and fair inquiry, at which he was given a full hearing and in strict accordance with the Rules of the Club.

 

However, having regard to the said findings of the Government Analyst, Drug Control Laboratory, Maharashtra State, as a measure of goodwill, the Stewards have decided conditionally and for the present not to enter the above suspension in his records. Consequently, the fine of Rs.20,000/-  (Rs.10,000/- in each case) paid by him would be refunded to him.

 

Trainer C.D.Katrak was further informed that if any time hereafter, by reason of any events, including, but not limited to any action by Boehringer Ingelheim, the aforesaid findings of Government Analyst, Drug Control Laboratory, Maharashtra State are wholly or partially set aside, the above suspension will be re-entered in his records and he will be asked to refund the amount of Rs.20,000/- imposed on him by way of a fine.
