RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF “ACE FANTASY” IN RACE NO 81 RUN ON 25TH DECEMBER 2014 AS COMPARED TO ITS EARLIER RUN IN RACE NO 26 RUN ON 27TH NOVEMBER 2014 – TRAINER IMTIAZ A SAIT

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait and Jockey P.Trevor with regard to the poor performance of ACE FANTASY vis a vis the other common horses viz. GRENADINE and AL SHAMSHEER. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait stated that the Instructions to the Jockey were to be well up or to be in the front. He explained that in Race no 26 where ACE FANTASY finished 2nd, the gelding was able to hold on from the fast finishing GRENADINE by 3 lengths but ACE FANTASY was ahead of GRENADINE coming into the straight by about 5 to 6 lengths. Whilst commenting on the race in question, Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait stated that SQUARE MOON had played up badly and was cast under the Gates and had hit the legs of ACE FANTASY whilst being in his Stall. He was informed by Jockey Trevor that when the gelding was taken out and being examined by the VO, he was shivering due to nervousness which may have affected the performance. Trainer Sait added that the gelding had undergone a surgery for Hobbday and had a tie-back as well and the gelding has taken 7 runs to shed the maiden status. He said that the gelding was given shock-wave therapy on its back after its run in Race no 26. To another question, Tr.Sait stated that probably the mile-and-a-half trip did not suit the gelding and he has done well up to mile and a quarter.  He added that GRENADINE gained 7 kg in body weight as compared to her last run and looked much better.

When questioned, Jockey P.Trevor confirmed that the gelding was shivering after the incident in the Gates and had settled down after the start was given. He added that the gelding had not travelled well.

The explanation tendered by the Trainer has been noted.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF “DANSE DEBONAIRE” IN RACE NO 86 RUN ON 25TH DECEMBER 2014 AS COMPARED TO ITS EARLIER RUNS IN RACE NO 39 AND RACE NO 18. – TRAINER NARENDRA LAGAD & JOCKEY DASHRATH SINGH

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Narendra Lagad and Jockey Dashrath Singh regarding the poor performance of DANSE DEBONAIRE as the gelding had won a race over 1800 metres and then ran 2nd over 2400 metres and had run off board in this race. It was also put to the Trainer that the gelding had faded by the 400 metres marker. Trainer Narendra Lagad stated that the Instructions to the Jockey were similar, i.e. to be well up or to be in front position. He stated that the weather on that day did not help the gelding and he was in distress to some degree and was blowing hard after the race, however, the gelding was sound and had eaten well in the evening. He added that DANSE DEBONAIRE cut pace with SINDBAAD on its outside and also his gelding was irritated by SINDABAAD who did not take a consistent position, due to which DANSE DEBONAIRE was unable to settle and faded soon after coming into the straight.

Jockey Dashrath Singh was confronted with this statement of the Trainer about the horse being in distress and it was put to the Jockey that he had failed to report this after the race to which he had no comment to offer and apologized for not having reported the same to the Stipendiary Stewards.

Whilst noting the explanation of the Trainer, Jockey Dashrath Singh has been cautioned for failing to report that may have affected the running of his mount.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “NEPTUNE’S OCEAN” IN RACE NO RUN ON 25TH DECEMBER 2014 – TRAINER MANSOOR SHAH & JOCKEY ISHWAR PARDESHI

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Mansoor Shah and Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi in the above connection as the jockey was observed to have ridden his mount feebly throughout the race.

Trainer Mansoor Shah stated that the Instructions to the Jockey were to take a good jump, be in forward position and do his best in the straight.

Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi confirmed the Instructions and stated that the filly had thrown its head at the start whereby he was unable to take a forward position. He added that NEPTUNE’S OCEAN received interference while racing on the inside of LOVEABLE LOCKS who carried his mount inwards and due to lack of room he had to ride his mount in check and lost further ground.  It was put to the Jockey that he had failed to ride out his mount in the straight.

The race was viewed. When asked for his observation, Trainer Mansoor Shah agreed that the Jockey was feeble in is riding effort. Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi stated that he did not have enough room to ride out as there were horses in front of him. It was pointed out to the Jockey that it was possible for him to make his move from the outside at the top of the straight and that could have been a better choice since he was already wide coming in to the straight, to which the Jockey stated he had horses on his outside.

Not being satisfied with the explanation of Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi, he has been reprimanded for not persevering with his mount in the straight.
