RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 5 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 600 METRES AND THEREAFTER 9 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST.
FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY 1200 METRES AND 5 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer M. Narredu, permission was granted to Trainer Rajesh Narredu to saddle his charges LIGHT OF LIFE in the 3rd race, ROUGE & QUICKER in the 5th race and ADAMAS in the 7th race, at his own (Trainer M. Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (51) – THE SAMUEL NATHAN PLATE: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 8
NASHVEGAS (Shrikant Kamble, dr.4) lost about three lengths at the start. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
It was observed that the saddle used on FLOYD (T. S. Jodha) shifted forward during the race. This being the first instance of faulty saddling during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, Trainer Behram Cama has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
After the race, JULIANA was trotted and found to be sound, ENCHANTING EMPRESS was observed to have an injury on left hind above the hock, NASHVEGAS was observed to have an injury on right hind pastern and LEO THE LION was observed to have an injury on right hind fetlock.
RACE NO.2 (52) – THE P. R. MEHTA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2400 METRES – RUNNERS - 4
At the request of Trainer P. Shroff, endoscopy was performed on DES MARQUIS at 10.06 a.m. at the Equine Hospital on 2nd January, 2024 and was diagnosed to have EIPH (Gr. III), as such, the colt was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The colt is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
Jockey N. S. Parmar (EXUMA) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. On questioning, Jockey N. S. Parmar stated that his mount was inclined outwards and he had used the whip as a corrective measure. As the same was borne out from the video recording of the race no action has been initiated against Jockey N. S. Parmar. However, Trainer M. K. Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, GANGSTER & EXUMA were trotted and found to be sound and REGAL COMMAND was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.
RACE NO.3 (53) – THE PRADEEP VIJAYAKAR PLATE - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 12
At the request of Trainer Narendra Lagad, OLYMPIA was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. in the stable area at 10.20 a.m. on 4th January, 2024 and was found to be sore by left fore and was observed to have a swelling on left fore tendon, as such, the mare was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
At the start, GALLOPING AHEAD (T. S. Jodha, dr.13) jumped out awkwardly and had to be steadied.
Soon after the start, EIFFEL TOWER (H. M. Akshay) shifted out thereby inconveniencing THE GENERAL (Bhawani Singh) and ANOUSHKA (Amyn Merchant) thereafter PRINCE IGOR (App. Mustakim Alam) shifted in sharply thereby bumping LIGHT OF LIFE (S. J. Sunil) forcing it inwards onto ANOUSHKA causing the latter to be checked, due to this incident ULTIMO (R. Ajinkya) racing on the haunches of LIGHT OF LIFE had to be steadied. After questioning all concerned and not being satisfied, App. Mustakim Alam has been reported to the Stewards for careless riding.
Approaching the 800 metres, in an effort to settle his mount Jockey R. Ajinkya (ULTIMO) shifted in onto EIFFEL TOWER (H. M. Akshay) who in turn shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing ETOILE (S. Saqlain) racing alongside causing the latter to be checked and dropped back. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey R. Ajinkya has been fined Rs.10,000/- for careless riding.
Passing the 600 metres, EIFFEL TOWER (H. M. Akshay) shifted out under urgings thereby inconveniencing SUSSING (R. Shelar) thereafter EIFFEL TOWER further shifted out thereby taking the ground of SUSSING causing the latter to be checked. After questioning, Jockey H. M. Akshay stated that his mount was hanging out, despite his efforts. The gelding was subjected to Veterinary examination. Subsequently, the Sr. V.O. reported that EIFFEL TOWER was found to be sore by right fore, as such, the gelding has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, PRINCE IGOR was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, ULTIMO was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.4 (54) – THE KAILASHPAT SINGHANIA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES –RUNNERS- 6
It was observed that the Hood used on LORD AND MASTER (P. S. Chouhan) was displaced during the race, as such, Trainer Shazaan Shah has been fined Rs.1,000/- for the lapse on his part and has been asked to be more careful in the future.
It was observed that ATAASH (App. Haridas Gore) racing on the haunches of LORD AND MASTER (P. S. Chouhan) was held up for room in the final stages of the race as a result had to check and change course.
RACE NO.5 (55) – THE M. D. MEHTA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 12
DORON (P. S. Chouhan, dr.2) reared up in the stall. The colt was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified him fit to race.
ROUGE (T. S. Jodha, dr.3) was very playful inside the gates and hence the filly was taken out of the gates and was examined by the Sr. V.O who certified her fit to race.
WIND DANCER (P. Trevor, dr.6) was continuously lashing out at the back gates. As such, the filly was taken out and was examined by the Club’s Sr. V. O. who reported that the filly had multiple injuries on both hind and was found to be sore by right hind. As such, the filly was withdrawn, before coming under the Starters order and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race. Further, Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
QUICKER (S. J. Sunil, dr.11) refused to be stalled, despite substantial efforts. As such, the gelding was withdrawn, before coming under the Starters order. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the start, EXPEDITE (S. A. Amit, dr.12) jumped outwards and had to be steadied.
Approaching the 200 metres, ROUGE (T. S. Jodha) veered out and collided with the outer railing and fell along with the rider thereafter the filly was given first aid and shifted to the Equine Hospital for further management. Subsequently, the Sr. V.O. reported that she had fractured her left shoulder, as such, the filly was euthanized on humanitarian grounds.
After the race, FAST APPROACH was observed to have injury on right hind pastern.
After the race, CINDERELLA’S DREAM was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.6 (56) – THE POLISH PATRIOT PLATE: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 12
Approaching the 900 metres, ADONIS (Amyn Merchant) shifted in and went across FAIRUZA (H. Zeeshan) causing the mare to clip the heels of the former and stumble. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey Amyn Merchant has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
It was observed that App. Mustakim Alam (ZIP ALONG) dropped his hands before passing the winning post thereby losing 5th position. After questioning and not being satisfied, App. Mustakim Alam has been fined Rs.3,000/- and has been severely cautioned for the future.
Jockey A. K. Aniket (HOUSE OF LORDS) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his 1st offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
After the race, ADONIS was observed to have a gum injury.
RACE NO.7 (57) – THE PRADEEP VIJAYAKAR PLATE - DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 13
ELOQUENT (H. Zeeshan, dr.4) refused to be stalled, despite substantial efforts. As such, the gelding was withdrawn, before coming under the Starters order. Trainer Shazaan Shah has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before the next accepting to race.
Approaching the 950 metres, ADAMAS (Vishal N. Bunde) leaned inwards thereby tightening and inconveniencing HELA (Bhawani Singh) along the rails. Jockey Vishal N. Bunde has been cautioned.
The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the running and riding of RUSH (S. G. Prasad) and a report will be submitted shortly.
The Sr. V.O. reported that after the race at the request of Trainer Aman Altaf Hussain, endoscopy was performed on GODDES OF DAWN and found to have mild respiratory infection.
After the race, RED MERLOT was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore, as such, the gelding has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, DREAM SELLER was observed to have a gum injury.
After the race, GODDES OF DAWN & TYRONE BLACK were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 4th & 6th race, viz. FLOYD, IT’S MY TIME & HAGIBIS, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
