RE: APPEAL FROM TRAINER ALTAMAASH A.AHMED REGARDING WITHDRAWAL OF HIS TRAINER’S LICENSE AND WARNING OFF W.E.F. 15THDECEMBER 2015 UPTO AND INCLUSIVE OF 30TH APRIL 2017 – ENQUIRY INTO THE POSITIVE FINDING OF STANOZOLOL IN THE URINE SAMPLE OF YOUR HORSES VIZ. “ASTAPI”, “ALAINDAIR” AND “AN ACQUIRED TASTE” WHO WERE COMPULSORYLY SAMPLED ON 16TH JULY 2015 FOR THE PRESENCE OF ANABOLIC STEROIDS AND SEX HORMONES SINCE THE HORSES HAD ARRIVED FROM JAPALLOUPE EQUESTRIAN CENTRE :

The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 30th November 2015 considered Appeal from Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed in the above connection.

The Board of Appeal having studied all documents and papers that were submitted and having heard the submissions made by Tr.Altamaash A.Ahmed and his Spokesperson, Ms Anita Khalakdina, deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds to the entire facts of the case, noted that Tr.Altamaash A.Ahmed was vicariously responsible for the positive finding of prohibited substance Stanozolol in the three horses and the source of contamination was not convincing. Dwelling on the severity of the penalty, although he was penalized under the Medication Rules when he was an Assistant Trainer, the Board took into account his clean record for last ten years as a Trainer and felt that the punishment imposed on him by the Stewards was harsh. Therefore, the Board decided to partially modify the penalty and reduce the punishment as under:

a)   To reduce his punishment from 17 months to 13 months;

b)   To remove the Warning off.

In view of the above, his Trainers’ License stands suspended w.e.f. December 1, 2015 up to the end of the Mumbai Meeting 2015/ 16 and thereafter, to grant him a License, if he applied for one for the Racing Season 2016/ 2017, but it will remain suspended up to and inclusive of 31stDecember 2016. His Deposit for the Appeal was refunded.
