FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED ON THE FULL COURSE. FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED 9 METRES WIDE FROM THE WINNING POST TILL 400 METRES AND THEREAFTER 10 METRES WIDE TILL THE WINNING POST.

THE STARTING GATES WERE POSITIONED AS MEASURED BY THE RODOMETER.

RACE NO.1(175) – THE  GOBELIN PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – 7 Runners

 

At the start, WALK OF FAME (Kavraj Singh, dr.6) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to ROYAL SAPPHIRE (Dashrath Singh, dr.5), who in turn went across AMAZON CAT (R.Shelar, dr.4), and then made contact with BLUE FLAME (S.G.Prasad, dr.3).

 

Jockey C.S.Jodha (RISING ANGEL) has been cautioned for shifting-in soon after the start.

 

BLUE FLAME (S.G.Prasad) lugged-in during the race and the filly scrapped the rails near 800 metres and then in the final stages of the race, shifted-in and tightened ROYAL SAPPHIRE (Dashrath Singh). Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Near 300 metres, BLUE FLAME (S.G.Prasad) shifted-out to progress in the race and in the process, inconvenienced WALK OF FAME (Kavraj Singh). Jockey S.G.Prasad has been cautioned.

 

After the race, BLUE FLAME, AMAZON CAT and DIAMONDZIP were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(176) – THE ASPIRING STAR PLATE : (About) 1000 Metres – 7 Runners

 

THUNDER STAR (R.Shelar) whipped around after the start and dislodged the rider. Since the gelding had behaved in a similar manner in its previous run, Trainer Ivor Fernandes has been asked to take remedial measures and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race, before next accepting with him to race.

 

At the start, BLUE BAY (P.Trevor, dr.6) drifted out and carried EXTREME LOVE (Hanumant Singh, dr.7) outwards.

 

CYCLOPS (Kavraj Singh) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, THUNDER STAR, PADMAKOSA and LA TRAVIATA (examined on 04/10/2014) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(177) – THE  VERSAKI TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres – 4 Runners

 

At the start, EXACTLY (C. S.Jodha) fly-jumped and on landing knuckled under by both the fore legs, dislodging its rider.

 

After the race, EXACTLY was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(178) – THE  VENUS ARISING TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – 7 Runners

 

Near 1300 metres, SABERCAT (Dashrath Singh) was tightened for room and lost position.

 

On top of the straight, LAURITA (A.Sandesh) was tightened for room as ZABROK (D.K.Ashish) shifted-out and at the same time SAVAGE BEAUTY (Kavraj Singh) shifted-in as the Jockey tried to correct his mount, who lugged out. Jockey D.K.Ashish has been cautioned and Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race his charge SAVAGE BEAUTY.

 

After the race, LAURITA was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the right fore fetlock. Also, the filly had lost its left hind plate. SAVAGE BEAUTY was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(179) – THE GIACOSA PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 10 Runners

 

At the start, STATUESQUE (I.Pasha, dr.9) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to WILD VENTURE (Kavraj Singh, dr.8).

 

Approaching 200 metres, STATUESQUE (I.Pasha) was unbalanced as the filly put in an awkward stride.

 

After the race, LUCKY CHARM was observed to have lost its left fore plate. WILD VENTURE was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(180) – THE SKY RAIDER PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – 12 Runners

 

Approaching 400 metres, ROCKING (Vikram Jodha) was inconvenienced and steadied, while racing on the inside of DHISHKYAON (A.Sandesh).

 

Approaching 200 metres, ROCKING (Vikram Jodha) was held up for a few strides, as DHISHKYAON (A.Sandesh) weakened and lost position.

 

Trainer D.J.Surti and Jockey Zameer Sayyed were questioned regarding the running and riding of NIGELLA. The instructions were to take a good jump and do the best. The Trainer opined that the mare had run better than expected as he had kept her fresh. He added that the mare had done better during the Mumbai Meeting as compared to the current Pune Meeting. When questioned, the Jockey confirmed the instructions and stated that the mare runs better when she is sat against and gives up when asked for an effort. He reiterated that he had done his best. Whilst noting the explanation of the Trainer, he has been reminded that there appears to be a pattern in respect of performance of his horses, selection of Riders and betting, which he should be careful about. The Jockey has been cautioned for feeble handling of his mount.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that NATIONAL STAR was examined at the stables in the morning on 04/10/2014 and was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, SNOW KING was found to be sound, hut having a cut injury at the left hind coronet. ICE RINK and NIGELLA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(181) – THE GIACOSA PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – 9 Runners

 

At the request of Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha, SOMETHING SPECIAL was examined at 1205 hours on 02/10/2014  and was found to be sore by the right fore leg. As such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

At the start, RAVELLO (Sandeep Jadhav, dr.6) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to BIG BANG (Vikram Walkar, dr.5), who in turn went on to ENSIGN (N.S.Parmar, dr.4), and at the same time, GYAHANA (Kishore Kadam, dr.3) drifted outwards.

 

JOLEENE (S.Sunil) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Jockey I.Pasha (QUANTUM) reported that his mount was hesitant in raising an effective gallop in the early part of the race and the gelding ran on as the race progressed.

 

After the race, JOLEENE was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(182) – THE PEPE JUNIOR PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – 11 Runners

 

CARTEL (App.Bhawani Singh) was reluctant to reach the start. Also, on start, the filly took a fly jump and lost about 2 lengths. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Soon after the start, RASHUN (P.S.Chouhan) and BELMONT (P.Trevor) made contact with each other.

 

 

Trainer Himmat Singh was questioned with regard to the comparative performance of RASHUN. The Trainer stated that the pevious race was run over 1800 metres whereas today's race was run over 1400 metres. Also, this race was for small Owners and it was less competitive as compared to the previous race. He added that Jockey C.S.Jodha had not handled the gelding properly in Race No.169.  He further added that the gelding had performed well over 140 metres in its first start during the Pune Meeting. To another question, the Trainer stated that the Owner wanted to test the gelding over an extended trip in Race No.169 to see if the gelding would stay and that the gelding was up against a good company. He stated that he had given the gelding a chance today as he had done well over 1400 metres. The Trainer was reminded that he was in contravention of the Calendar Notification with regard to comparative performance within a short span of time. The matter has been reported to the stewards for such action as deemed fit.

 

After the race, DANNY BOY was found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winners of the 3rd, 4th and 5th race viz. SQUARE MOON, LAURITA and LUCKY CHARM, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.  The sampling of LEOTHEFIERCEHORSE (Winner- 6th race) was abandoned as the horse did not pass urine within the stipulated period of time.
