RACE DAY REPORTS
FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED FROM 1400 METRES TILL THE WINNING POST, WIDTH ABOUT 1.5 METRES. FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE TILL 1000 METRES, WIDTH ABOUT 1.5 METRES.

RACE NO.1(26) – THE STORM PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners
At the start, DHISHKYAON (A.Sandesh, dr.2) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to MOONDROPS (B.Nikhil, dr.3), and at the same time, EARTH SENSOR (Prabhu Naidu, dr.4) jumped awkwardly inwards and made contact with MOONDROPS). As a result, EARTH SENSOR ricocheted, shifted out and jostled with ALWAYS THERE (Dashrath Singh, dr.5).
Near 1000 metres crossing, ADMIRAL GRAY (App.Akshay Gaikwad) lost its footing.
RACE NO.2(27) – THE GOLDEN EDITION PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – 7 Runners
After the race, JOSEPHINE and GLORIA were found to be sound.
RACE NO.3(28) – THE ZAHRA PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – 5 Runners
It was observed before the race that the body weight of VICTORIA FALLS was publicized as 444 kg, down by 35 kg as compared to the last weight recorded. Trainer S.K.Sunderji was interviewed in this regard as the filly did not appear to have lost 35 kg. The filly was re-weighed after the race and found to be 486 kg, which was consistent with her earlier body weight records for her races run during the last Mumbai Meeting 2013/ 14. As such, the weight of the filly for this race will be recorded as 486 kg and not 444 kg as publicized.
RACE NO.4(29) – THE MUSIC MAN PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – 8 Runners
ZURICH (App.Yash Narredu) jumped out awkwardly and veered to the outside and thereafter did not raise an effective gallop, resulting in the gelding losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
App.Yash Narredu (ZURICH) reported that he had to check his mount on few occasions during the race due to MAALIK (App.S.J.Sunil) racing erratic in front of him.
Jockeys A.Sandesh (ORIENTAL MASTI) and T.S.Jodha (LAURUS PRIDE) were observed to have used their whip in excess of the prescribed limit on their respective mount, as such, both the Jockeys have been fined Rs.1,000/- each.
After the race, MAALIK was observed to have an abrasion at the right fore coronet. GUNS N ROSES was found to be sound.
RACE NO.5(30) – THE MUSIC MAN PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – 8 Runners
At the request of Trainer M.Narredu, ESTABLISH PREDATOR was examined at 1025 hours on 02/08/2014 and was found to be sore by the right hind leg. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
Trainer Nina M.Lalvani has been fined Rs.1,000/- for failing to produce the Registered Racing Colours in respect of her charge PUMBA. The Jockey wore the Emergency Colours. i.e. All Black.
DANCING SPLENDOUR (T.S.Jodha) jumped out slow, losing about 3 lengths at the start.
STAYING ALIVE (Darren Williams, dr.6) shifted in before the red marker and went across RULE DOWNUNDER (P.Trevor) who was steadied and then continued to shift in and went across the field on his inside. Jockey Darren Williams has been fined Rs.1,000/- and cautioned for the future.
After the race, ANGEL IN THE SKY and STAYING ALIVE were found to be sound.
RACE NO.6(31) – THE AUGUST HANDICAP: (About) 1400 Metres – 7 Runners
At the request of Trainer P.Shroff, EL CAMINO was examined at 1725 hours on 1st August, 2014 and was found to have colic symptoms. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting with him to race.
SOUL CENTRIC (P.Trevor) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer S.S.Shah has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
INNOCENT AFFAIR (Shrikant Kamble, dr.4) hesitated at jump out and in the process, shifted out and made contact with SOUL CENTRIC (P.Trevor, dr.5).
SHIVALIK BREEZE (N.S.Parmar, dr.6) shifted in before the Red Marker and went across the field on his inside with BLEND OF ELEGANCE (C.S.Jodha) following the former. Jockey N.S.Parmar has been fined Rs.1,000/- and Jockey C.S.Jodha has been cautioned.
Jockey P.Trevor (SOUL CENTRIC) reported that his mount lost her footing suddenly passing 200 metres, whereby he had to ease her up.
Jockey A.Sandesh (FLASHING CHIEFTAIN) reported that his mount lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Karthik G has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
Jockey Neeraj Rawal (WESTPHALIA) has been reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out in the final 100 metres and in the process he carried FLASHING CHIEFTAIN (A.Sandesh) outwards.
After the race, FLASHING CHIEFTAIN was found to be sound, but having an abrasion at both the hind fetlocks. INNOCENT AFFAIR had lost its left fore shoe.
RACE NO.7(32) – THE PENNYWISE TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – 12 Runners
CHASE THE ACE (Vikram Jodha), DISCOURSE (J.Chinoy) and PURE BLISS (A.Sandesh) were restless in the stall and not allowing their riders to settle. Trainers S.K.Sunderji and Karthik G. have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the start, BEACH GAME (S.S.Baria, dr.4) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to FLYNN (Kavraj Singh, dr.3), who in turn went on to APACHE (Darren Williams, dr.2), who in turn tightened DRACO (N.S.Parmar, dr.1). Nevertheless, Jockey S.S.Baria (BEACH GAME) has been asked to be more careful in the future.
Soon after the start, QUIZICAL (D.K.Ashish) shifted in, due to which DISCOURSE (J.Chinoy) shied inwards and jostled with CHASE THE ACE (Vikram Jodha).
Approaching 1000 metres, APACHE (Darren Williams) was tightened as BEACH GAME (S.S.Baria) shifted ground inwards due to a tightly packed field.
Near 900 metres, DRACO (N.S.Parmar) shifted out when eased off the heels of DANNY BOY (T.S.Jodha) and in the process jostled with LOGANO (D.A.Naik).
APACHE (Darren Williams) hung-out in the straight and carried FLYNN (Kavraj Singh) outwards. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
FLYNN (Kavraj Singh) ran green during the race.
After the race, APACHE was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the right hind fetlock. DANNY BOY had a cut injury at the left hind pastern. FLYNN was found to be sound.
RACE NO.8(33) – THE AIR DASH PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 10 Runners
Near 100 metres, TITLEIST (B.Nikhil) shifted out and in the process went across GRAN AMIGO (Kavraj Singh) who was checked. Jockey B.Nikhil has been fined Rs 3,000/-.
After the race, GRAN AMIGO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, IRIDESCENCE was observed to have an abrasion at the left shoulder and ARMEL had a gum injury. MY FREEDOM was found to be sound.
RACE NO.9(34) – THE AIR DASH PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – 10 Runners
DOUBLE DIAMOND (App.Akash Gaikwad) prematurely tried to rush the gates and in the process the rider got dislodged and was hurt. Also, the lead on the mare came off. As such, DOUBLE DIAMOND was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order.
HUDSON HAWK (P.Trevor ) jumped out awkwardly and tried to veer to the outside. Trainer S.K.Sunderji has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Jockey P.Trevor (HUDSON HAWK) reported that his mount took an awkward jump at the start whereby he was unbalanced and lost both his stirrups, which he regained near 400 metres.
At the start, HEART OF THE CITY (App.D.S.Daman, dr.8) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to MOUNTAINWARRIOR (Hanumant Singh, dr.7), who in turn went on to NEPTUNE’S OCEAN (App.K.N.Bhati, dr.6).
PASSION PRINCE (B.Nikhil) lugged-out in the final stages of the race. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
Jockey A.Sandesh (ZEDA) reported that his mount lugged-out throughout the race. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, MOUNTAIN WARRIOR was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, ZEDA, PASSION PRINCE and PEPPERCORN were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winners of the 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th race viz. AUTUMN LOVE, ALECTO, WESTPHALIA and QUIZICAL, and the special sample of LAURUS PRIDE (4th race) and GRAN AMIGO (8th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
