RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED AT THE ORIGINAL POINT

 

RACE NO.1(175)  – THE  ROYAL CHALLENGE ‘GAME FOR LIFE’ CUP (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 19

At the request of Trainer Narendra Lagad, ALLEGIANCE was examined at 1715 hours on 02/02/2013 and was found to have a cut injury on the forehead  and had to be treated. As such, ALLEGIANCE was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The Trainer is required to obtain a Fitness Certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

Trainer M.K.Jadhav has been fined Rs.1,000/- for bringing his charge, OLUCHI  late into the Paddock. The mare was brought into the Paddock after all the other runners had left for the Start.

 

ONLY WHITE (T.S.Jodha) lost about 2 lengths at the start.

 

At the start, BLUSH (App.Vikash Tamang, dr.8) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to MIDNIGHT LADY (Imran Chisty, dr.10) who in turn went across ONLY WHITE (T.S.Jodha, dr.11) who had also jumped out awkwardly.

  

Soon after the start, VALOROZKY (Shammi Khan, dr.14) shifted in and jostled with ZANTHOS (Daniel M.Grant, dr.13). Jockey Shammi Khan has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Jockey Daniel M.Grant  (ZANTHOS) has been fined Rs.3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

Jockey C.S.Jodha (SONG OF AFRICA) reported the loss of whip near 300 metres. His explanation that the whip of Jockey Daniel M.Grant (ZANTHOS) hit his whip and therefore he lost his whip, was accepted.

 

After the race, ZANTHOS and MIDNIGHT LADY were observed to have broken a blood vessel and are not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, BLUSH,  DANCING MONEY, EL WONDER (examined on 04/02/2013) and POLAR ZONE (examined on 04/02/2013), were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(176)  – THE  FOUR SEASONS CUP: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 7

 

MARS (Colm O’Donoghue) was reluctant to be stalled and thereafter was restless in the stall.  Trainer Karthik G. has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

FORTUNE FAVOURS (P.Trevor) lugged out in the straight. Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, NOBLE REWARD was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind pastern and CIRCLE OF LIFE had a cut injury at the left hind coronet. FORTUNE FAVOURS was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(177) – THE VLADIVAR CUP: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 10

 

At the start, NATIONAL GLORY (App.Vikash Tamang, dr.3) jumped outwards and hampered the running of HAWK OF THE WIND (Ishwar Pardeshi, dr.4).  App.Vikash Tamang has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

ANAHI (P.Trevor) lugged out in the straight. Since the gelding was reported to have returned sore after the race, no action has been initiated in the matter.

 

EMERGING STAR (App.Prabhu Naidu) shifted out in the final stages of the race and went on to HILLS AND HEIGHTS (App.Sandeep Jadhav). App.Prabhu Naidu has been cautioned.

 

After the race, HILLS AND HEIGHTS  was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ANAHI was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

The Sr.V.O. reported that NATIONAL GLORY was examined at the stables on 04/02/2013 and was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(178) – THE ANTIQUITY BLUE ‘FUSION OF THE FINEST’ CUP: (About)1600 Mts – Runners - 12

 

Jockey P.Trveor (PAPAKURA) was reported to the Stewards for having used his whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount, this being his fourth offence during the current Mumbai Meeting. The Stewards interviewed the Jockey and resolved to deprive him of the use of the whip with immediate effect till the end of the Mumbai Meeting 2012/13.

 

Jockey Colm O’Donoghue (ZIDAAN) reported that his mount was not comfortable and did not respond to his urgings. The Sr. VO was requested to examine the gelding and he reported that  ZIDAAN was observed to have lost its left fore plate.

 

After the race, APPALACHIA was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ALKAZI and SHIVALIK PRIDE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(179) – THE  R.N.KANGA GOLD TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 8

 

SMASHING (S.Zervan) planted and took no practical part in the race. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and to show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, RAJASTHAN ROYALS (C.S.Jodha) shifted in on to OKAVANGO (D.K.Ashish), who in turn went on to SILVER BIRCH (Malcolm Kharadi). Jockey C.S.Jodha has been cautioned.

 

Jockeys A.Sandesh (STAR OF GIBRALTAR) and S.A.De Sousa (RANTHAMBHORE) have been fined Rs.1,000/- each and Jockey Neeraj Rawal (YUVILLE) was fined Rs.3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on their respective mount.

 

After the race, OKAVANGO was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(180) – THE  MCDOWELL’S NO.1 PLATINUM TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners - 11

 

ICE COOL (Martin J.Dwyer) stumbled at the start. SAVAGE GARDEN (Shrikant Kamble) was tightened for room.

 

Soon after the start, ICE COOL (Martin J.Dwyer) was tightened for room and steadied.

 

Soon after the start, BONOBO (C.S.Jodha) shifted in and tightened SEMINYAK (D.K.Ashish) who in turn went in caused interference to MONET (R.Hughes). Jockey C.S.Jodha was reported to the Stewards for careless riding.

 

The Stewards interviewed Jockey C.S.Jodha and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to suspend his Jockey’s License for 21st February 2013 for careless riding (Permitted to ride work/ Mock race).

 

Jockey J.Pradeep (ANTONIUS MAXIMUS) has been fined Rs.3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

Jockey R.Hughes (MONET) has been cautioned for improper use of the whip wherein he used the whip on the shoulder in forehand position.

 

Near 2000 metres, due to the rail protruding out, ICE COOL (Martin J.Dwyer) was inconvenienced, scrapped the rails and shifted out and made contact with DANSE DEBONAIRE (Dashrath Singh).

 

SOPHISTICATED (B.Sreekanth) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Karthik G. has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, it was observed that the left fore plate of BONOBO was splayed.  ANTONIUS MAXIMUS had a cut injury at the right hind pastern. ICE COOL was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(181) – THE B.K.RATTONSEY MEMORIAL MAIDEN MULTI-MILLION : (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 11

LITTLE LOVE (Martin J.Dwyer) lugged out in the final 200 metres. Trainer C.D.Katrak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey J.Fortune (TRANCE) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards’ Enquiry was held in this race The reason being, TRANCE (J.Fortune, Placed First) shifted out under use of the whip in the last 50 metres and went on to PRESIDENTIAL (Daniel M.Grant, Placed Third), who had to check his mount, which may have cost him the race.

 

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and viewing the video recording of the race, the Stewards decided to maintain the order of placing as declared by the Judge.

 

After the race, ISADORO was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind pastern.

 

SILVER STREAK (P.Trevor) was placed fifth and TAHRIR (Pat Smullen) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO.8(182) – THE MCDOWELL SIGNATURE PREMIER INDIAN DERBY (GRADE I): (About) 2400 Metres – Runners - 17

Trainer Irfan Ghatala has been fined Rs.5,000/- for accepting with his charge WIND WONDER to participate in this race, whilst the horse was not present at the Racecourse. The horse was struck out at the Acceptance stage.

 

Near 2000 metres, SNOWSCAPE (C.Alford) shifted out as the colt was being settled and also due to the bend and caused a chain reaction in which WINDS OF FORTUNE (Dashrath Singh), MAXIMUS (Daniel M.Grant), BORSALINO (David Allan) shifted out and BORSALINO made contact with AN ACQUIRED TASTE (S.John). 

 

Passing 1000 metres, SONG DYNASTY (A.Sandesh) shifted in and inconvenienced SHIVALIK HERO (Colm O’Donoghue) and a short while later, again shifted in and jostled with MACHIAVELLIANISM (P.S.Chouhan), who in turn went on to SUPER STORM (J.Fortune). The enquiry has been kept pending since Jockey A.Sandesh was unavailable.

 

Approaching 400 metres, MAXIMUM (Daniel M.Grant) shifted in and carried WIND STREAM (Martin J.Dwyer) inwards.

 

Near 400 metres, SUPER STORM (J.Fortune) shifted in and caused NEW WORLD (Pat Smullen) to shift in, who in turn went on to AN ACQUIRED TASTE (S.John) who in turn tightened SONG DYNASTY (A.Sandesh) who went in on to MONTEZUMA (S.Zervan). Jockey J.Fortune has been fined Rs.10,000/- for not making sufficient effort to correct his mount.

 

Shortly after passing 400 metres, NEW WORLD (Pat Smullen) became unbalanced due to the interference and shifted out on to WIND STREAM (Martin J.Dwyer) who went out on to MAXIMUS (Daniel M.Grant).

 

Jockey Pat Smullen (CERRO NEGRO) has been fined Rs.3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

After the race, MACHIAVELLIANISM and SONG DYNASTY were observed to have broken a blood vessel. Also, SONG DYNASTY had a bruise over the left elbow. Both the horses have been stopped from racing for the stipulated period of 4 weeks and have to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, BORSALINO was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind fetlock, SUPER STORM had an abrasion at the left hind coronet and WINDS OF FORTUNE had a cut injury at the right hind bulb of heel.

 

AN ACQUIRED TASTE (S.John) was placed fifth and NEW WORLD (Pat Smullen) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO.9(183) –THE  ROYAL CHALLENGE ‘GAME FOR LIFE’ CUP (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Mts – Runners - 20

 

Jockey Akshay was declared to ride on two horses viz. MAGIC MELODY and MCQUEEN  by Trainers Mansoor Shah and H.J.Antia respectively. After enquiring, Trainer Mansoor Shah was permitted to declare Jockey Akshay on MAGIC MELODY and Trainer H.J.Antia declared Jockey Hanumant Singh on MCQUEEN. Trainer H.J.Antia was fined Rs.1,000/- for declaring a Jockey without his consent.

 

At the start, MZURI (Daniel M.Grant) jumped out awkwardly. ICE AGE (Martin J.Dwyer, dr.14) jumped awkwardly outwards and as the filly was steadied, shifted in and made contact with CEASARINA (App.Nikhil Bhujbal, dr.13) who itself had changed course outwards.

After the start, DOMAIN ANNA (App.S.Mosin) shifted out and hampered the running of ARABIAN CROWN (T.S.Jodha). App.S.Mosin has been cautioned.

 

Near 200 metres, ROMALIA (J.Fortune) shifted out, due to which MCQUEEN (Hanumant Singh) shifted on to ALWAYS SMILE (Vikram Jodha) who in turn jostled with MOON RAKER (M.A.Roushan) who became unbalanced.

 

Jockey T.S.Jodha (ARABIAN CROWN) reported that his mount was uncomfortable during the race and more so in the straight. The Sr. V.O. was requested to examine the gelding and he reported that no abnormality was detected.

 

After the race, FLY BY ME, MOON RAKER, ALWAYS SMILE, MCQUEEN, NIGELLA and MZURI (examined on 04/02/2013) were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of   1st, 2nd, 5th, 7th and 8th race, viz. HAWAIIAN PRINCESS, FALCON, STAR OF GIBRALTAR, TRANCE and SUPER STORM, as also that LITTLE LOVE and PRESIDENTIAL (7th race) & WIND STREAM, HEMISPHERE and MACHIAVELLIANISM (8th race), and the special sample of MIDNIGHT LADY (1st race) and HILLS AND HEIGHTS (3rd race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
