RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 4 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 5 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.

 

FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer S. S. Attaollahi, permission was granted to Trainer P. Shroff to saddle his charge DOUBLE SCOTCH in the 4th race, at his own (Trainer S. S. Attaollahi’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (88) – THE HPSL BENGALI CUP: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS -  9

 

TARZAN (S. Zervan) was reluctant to be stalled, as such, Trainer Subhag Singh has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, OTELLO (R. Shelar, dr.4) jumped outwards and at the same time ADONIS (K. Nazil, dr.6) jumped inwards thereby tightening VOLARE (App. P. Shinde, dr.5) drawn between them, who had to be checked.

 

The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the running and riding of OTELLO (R. Shelar) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, TARZAN was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MIRAE & OTELLO were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (89) – THE HPSL BHOJPURI CUP: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 10

 

COMANECI (N. B. Kuldeep) was paraded in the paddock sporting a Tongue Strap for which prior permission was not obtained. Subsequently, the same was removed. As such, Trainer Subhag Singh has been fined Rs.1,000/- for the lapse.

 

At the start, COMANECI (N. B. Kuldeep, dr.4) jumped outwards at the same time DOWSABEL (Imran chisty, dr.5) jumped inwards and they made contact.

 

It was observed that App. N. Bhosale (UNTITLED, dr.8) lost his left stirrup as the start was effected and failed to regain it throughout the race. After questioning, App. N. Bhosale stated that since he had kept his balance on his toes his left leg slipped out as soon as he jumped out. App. N. Bhosale has been cautioned for the future.

 

Approaching the 800 metres, CHAMPAGNE SMILE (Vishal N. Bunde) shifted in thereby forcing PHANTA (A. K. Aniket) inwards due to which BLAZING BAY (R. N. Darshan) had to check and drop back as a result MOMENT OF MADNESS (App. Haridas Gore) was inconvenienced and had to be steadied thereby carrying DOWSABEL (Imran Chisty) outwards. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey Vishal N. Bunde has been suspended for one race day i.e. on 25th February, 2024. (permitted to ride work/ mock race).

 

After the race, Jockey S. Saqlain (MOJO) reported loss of whip at the 400 metres. The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the same and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

RACE NO.3 (90) – THE HPSL GUJARATI CUP: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS -  9

 

Approaching the 1000 metres, MARLBORO MAN (S.Zervan) leaned inwards thereby tightening PRINCE O’ WAR (M.S.Deora) who had to be steadied. The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the running and riding of PRINCE O’ WAR and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, CASCADE was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4 (91) – THE HPSL KANNADA CUP: (ABOUT) 2400 METRES –RUNNERS- 6

 

JERUSALAM (S. J. Sunil) planted in the stall and lost considerable ground at the start. In view of the same and a similar behavior of the gelding in his previous start, Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to show his charge in two mock races to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, DOUBLE SCOTCH (F. Norton, dr.4) jumped inwards forcing ALPHA DOMINO (Neeraj Rawal, dr.3) onto CHAT (P. Trevor, dr.2) causing both the horses to be steadied.


After the race, DES MARQUIS was trotted and found to be sound. Further, at the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, endoscopy was performed on DES MARQUIS and was found to have EIPH (Gr.III) (2nd time), as such, the colt is not to race for the stipulated ban period of eight weeks and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ALPHA DOMINO was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5 (92) – THE HPSL MALAYALAM CUP: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 8

 

At the request of Trainer Faisal A. Abbas, SCOTTISH SCHOLAR was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. in the stable area at 6.15 p.m. on 31st January, 2024 and was found to be sore by right fore with swelling on right fore fetlock, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After being stalled, RICOCHET (C. S. Jodha, dr.7) stood in an awkward position, swayed her head, as such, the filly was taken out and was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be bleeding from her gums, hence, the filly was certified unfit to race. Therefore, the filly was permitted to be withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Trainer Behram Cama has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, MIGHTY WINGS (App. N. Bhosale, dr.8) jumped inwards brushing the haunches of ESFIR (App. Haridas Gore, dr.6) causing the former to be steadied.

 

At the start, SHE’S A TEASER (S. Mosin) jumped outwards thereby starting a chain reaction due to which ESFIR (App. Haridas Gore) was tightened for room and had to checked.  Jockey S. Mosin has been cautioned.

 

Jockey A. K. Aniket (TYRONE BLACK) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his 2nd offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

Jockey Bhawani Singh (MIDAS TOUCH) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his 2nd offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

After the race, MIGHTY WINGS was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the mare has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, RICOCHET was found to have a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.6 (93) – THE HPSL PUNJABI CUP: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 12

 

DEFINETELY (K. Nazil) jumped out slowly thereby losing considerable ground at the start. Trainer Hosidar Daji has been to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

ART COLLECTOR (Yash Narredu, dr.12) and FLASHING FAMOUS (S. A. Amit, dr.7) took a fly jump as the start was effected.

 

Approaching the 900 metres, ART COLLECTOR (Yash Narredu) shifted in at the same time DECACORN (N. S. Parmar) leaned outwards thereby bumping and inconveniencing ARIES (Bhawani Singh) racing between them causing the latter to check and drop back. After questioning all concerned, Jockey Yash Narredu has been fined Rs.3,000/- and Jockey N. S. Parmar has been cautioned.

 

After the race, ART COLLECTOR & DEFINITELY were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7 (94) – THE DR. S. C. JAIN SPRINTERS' CHAMPIONSHIP  (Grade 2): (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 6

 

Approaching the 800 metres, AHEAD OF MY TIME (S. Saqlain) shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing MARKET KING (P. Trevor) along the rails causing the latter to check and drop back, thereafter, approaching the 600 metres, AHEAD OF MY TIME shifted out thereby bumping, forcing and carrying MARKET KING outwards. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey S. Saqlain has been suspended for two race days i.e. on 25th February and 7th March, 2024. (permitted to ride work/mock race)

 

After the race, AHEAD OF MY TIME, JOAQUIN & MARKET KING were trotted and found to be sound, DEMOCRACY was found to have an injury on left hind pastern.

 

RACE NO.8 (95) – THE HPSL RAJASTHANI CUP: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 13

 

After the race, RAFFAELLO was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

After the race, BUBBLY BOY was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9 (96) – THE HPSL TELUGU CUP: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS – 10

 

After the race, NEW DIMENSION & ESPERANZA were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.10 (97) – THE HPSL-2024 PAN INDIA CUP: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 12

 

At the request of Trainer Aman Altaf Hussain, MAZAL was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. in the stable area at 5.10 p.m. on 2nd February, 2024 and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching the 400 metres, it was observed that HELSINKI stumbled and fell along with the rider. Thereafter on examination the gelding was found to have a fracture of left tibia, as such, the gelding was euthanized on humanitarian grounds.

 

After the race, KING MARCO was trotted and found to be sound, WANDERLUST was observed to have lost its right fore shoe.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th & 8th race, viz. ADONIS, UNTITLED, LUMINOSITY, SUSSING, REMINISCENCE & BUBBLY BOY, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

 

The urine and blood samples of the MAGILETO (Winner – 7th race) & DEMOCRACY (2nd place – 7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
